How do they use it to achieve their dreams?: Wendy's dream was always to protect the innocent, and become a teacher in an area where children don't have much. She uses her perceptiveness to notice threats or potential problems and find a way to work around them. She's able to see when someone's upset or lying, and uses this to her advantage to become a trusted figure to the young kalons and safely get them through situations.

how do they use it to achieve their dreams?:
isabella isn't fond of how often only her physical strength
is seen. she's smart- very smart, in fact, and all she wants
is for her intellect to be recognized. she's always been
a master of debates and strategy, able to crush almost
anyone at board games and arguments. finally, to prove
herself, she went to law school and quickly became
a brilliant young lawyer. it was never what she dreamed
of becoming, but now she loves every minute of it and
aspires to reach the very top with only her smarts.

Strength: Lena stands true to what she believes in, and doesn’t let anything get in the way of her vision.

How do they use it to achieve their dreams?: Ever since she was young, Lena wanted to be a politician. The idea of changing the world for the better called to her from the moment she knew what it meant. She worked hard, studying in school, and pushing through college. And through it all, she rallied for the things she cared about, and she sent out postcards urging citizens to vote.
But the wiser she got, the more she realized that most of the people in politics were not there to simply make the world a better place. Rather, a good amount of them were interested in money or power. She made a vow to herself to never become corrupt, and to serve her people the best she could.
When she was elected to a seat in her state’s congress, she was elated. But she realized it required a lot of devotion. She had to live near the capital, and when she wasn’t in meetings, she traveled around the state, pushing for the causes she believed in. It was a hard job, but it was worth every minute of it. Eventually, she worked her way up to governor.
While she was running, corporations would meet with her, asking her to make deals with them for huge amounts of money. Lena stayed firm to her beliefs, telling them that she only wanted to rely on donations made by her supporters. Though it was hard for a lot of them to give large donations, they still tried to give as much money as they could. In the end, Lena raised a great sum of money, and she was able to win the election.
As governor, Lena implemented important programs, like one that gave some financial aid to poor schools in order to build libraries. Though the idea had lots of opposition, she fought for it nevertheless. Lena truly believed that reading could open up lots of doors to bright futures, and she fought for the idea with all her might.
Lena’s strength gets her places without sacrificing her vision, and makes her a fantastic politician.

Extra: As Lena sat in her office, surrounded by her closest advisors, her mind drifted back to a time when nothing could obstruct her vision...
Soon, she was in a small first grade classroom filled with about 20 students. Mrs. Mulberry’s class, she remembered. The old kalon was strict, but incredibly kind.
"Can anyone tell us about our government?"
A young Lena’s hand shot up. Mrs. Mulberry laughed, and called on her. "Lena?"
"We have three branches to our government: judicial, executive, and legislative. The legislative brach makes the laws, the executive branch enforces them, and the judicial branch interprets the laws."
If the first grade teacher was impressed, she didn’t show it. "Who heads each of the branches?" she inquired.
Lena wasted no time thinking. "Congress, which consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives, leads the legislative branch. The judicial branch is led by the Supreme court of the U.S. There are nine justices in the court, so that they can’t ever tie. Finally, the executive branch has the president."
The teacher looked at her in adoration. "Lena, mark my words, you are going to change the world one day."
...Lena was brought back into the real world with shouts and cheers.
"The results are in! You won! Congratulations, Mrs. Rossi. We’re looking forward to seeing what you can do."
Lena smiled to herself. "Seeing what I can do..." she mumbled. “Mrs. Mulberry was right. I am going to change the world today."

how does they use it to achieve their dreams?:
kill them with kindness.

they attacked perrin for her looks, for her way of speaking, for her hobbies, her interests, her hopes, her dreams--anything she said was a target scrawled on her back. she could never do anything right.

for a while, she closed herself off. she hid from the world in an opaque black box, heart behind bars and teeth wrapped in cages. she tied up her hands in ropes and threw herself to the wolves, hoping that one day they'd stop.

it didn't work. they were brutal and vicious and attacked her even more for deviating from the norm. no matter what she did, perrin couldn't win.

so, she stopped trying. she killed them with kisses and loved at those who spit at her. when they snarled, she smiled.

while those who persecuted her never let up, the adults in her life noticed the change in her demeanor. she became loved, appreciated, cultivated, and she began to thrive. and nevertheless, she persisted in her kindness.

perrin was never the smartest, the prettiest, or the best at just about anything. but she had a heart of gold and she loved with her whole heart. she was the best at loving.

perrin went to college to learn how to be a social worker. she wants to bring hope to the hopeless, be loving to the unloved, bring kindness to those who the world has been unkind to.

though her life was never easy, perrin brought love to an unloved world. and that was all she could ever hope for.
