Taiger Lilly wrote:Yeah, it is pretty interesting. Embark actually tests for a few things that could cause shortened limbs. Some are more serious but since she is otherwise healthy we never really suspected them; such as Congenital Hypothyroidism, Skeletal Dysplasia 2, Osteochondrodysplasia, Oculoskeletal Dysplasia 1 etc. Again though, these usually come with other syptoms.
The typical short legged phenotype (visual appearance) is chondrodystrophy(cause by the FGF4 retrogene I believe) and I don't think Embark includes it on the health portion of the test. I wanna wait until I get all the results to really dig into it though.
As for Wick, it's really about how much it means to you! It's a pretty steep price in my opinion, especially if you already know what the breed results will look like. Sure the health information is valuable, but testing positive still isnt a diaognosis and you would still have to work with your vet a lot to determine what the results mean (in terms of treatment etc., plus some diseases don't ever express themselves even if the dog tests positive)
If you wanted to go the health testing route I would look around at places that do just health tests/ talk to a vet about what he should be tested for since you may be able to get only the relevant information for a better deal (or maybe not, I haven't really looked at the prices for just health testing).
Well I'm glad at least she doesn't have anything serious at least! Love that she's basically 1/4th super mutt, lol. It makes sense with how unique she looks. I'm glad she doesn't have any serious issues with shortened limbs.
And thanks for the advice I'll ask the vet when he goes for his 3rd round of shots. I wouldn't mind getting embark if it came to it. I think it would be useful if we know if there is any genetic issues to look out for as he ages.

Look who got her first big girl collar! I bought it for Kes ages ago but she only wore it for like one photo lol. It stands out a lot better against Octavia’s fur!
We had a lazy morning where basically all we did was relax and a few training sessions! Then my lazy plan got derailed by my mom needing to go to TSC, so me and O went and met her. We also ran into a pet friendly fax store thing, then I carried her around Petsmart before we came home. So pretty good socializing day, to end with getting to play in the front yard where I took some pics of her in her new collar!

@.Middy., I love her so much, her ears are just too cute, and that collar looks great on her! What a good puppy.
On the topic of collars, where do you guys usually buy your collars from? I bought JJ's newest collar from XDream Dogs. She got to model on their Instagram, lol. I wanna get a nice leather collar next.

I usually like to buy martingale collars from shops on Etsy, like Anomaly Collar Club and Dogs By The Bay since they have pretty and unique fabrics. Or Hurtta. However I just got a collar from Stillwater Kennel Supply and I love it! It’s super durable and gorgeous. I know it will hold up for a long time.

Thanks guys! And yes, I love her ears so much! I’m so glad I decided to glue them haha! She looks a lot better with prick ears!
My favorite collars are from x.FallingStarDesigns on Etsy. She makes some amazing paracord collars! I can’t wait to get Octavia her own once she’s grown! Nawtydog has some really nice tie dye collars.
I’m too broke for leather so far, but if you want to splurge I am loving Kokolati’s new dragonfly design. I wanna get it for Kes but money 😭. Ella’s Lead and Collared Up are both suppose to be awesome leather collars. KNM.Leather on IG is also amazing, I am dying for collars from her!
I really like biothane myself since we do so much hiking and swimming, SloppyChops is my go to biothane maker. Kes has a leash from there and I adore it! Planning on getting O a nice ‘ice caves’ leash and eventually both will get matching collars from them.
If you are on FB, check out the group ‘Collar Snobbery’ but be careful they will make you broke 😂

Alright, we’ve had it with Oppie chewing up shoes!
We’ve tried the Apple Bitter spray and Nature’s Miracle “No Chew”
Is there anything else we can do? We keep the shoes up but he manages to get them while we’re sleeping.
We’ve tried crating him overnight and all he does is whine and bark.
He’s crate trained, he just hates being in there.
Any and I mean ANY other option would help please suggest some?
I’ve caught him chewing on my fiancées purse strap... she ultimately had to get a new purse.
I’ve also woken up on morning to my phone charger chewed.
It’s like he doesn’t care. And with our sons arrival on April 10th, we have to somehow put a end to this.

my favorite shop is probably Rudel Liebe, they have some really nice collars and leads but also some... really weird ones? i don't know. i look forward to getting some stuff from them, my favorite collar is this one. though the worst thing about dogs with long hair is buying pretty collars and never being able to see them under all the fluff.

I wish I could get nice colllars for Olive. I mean I could, but she's just so darn fluffy that they just dissapear. Has anyone know a place that makes harnesses that are both functional and beautiful looking? Most of the "prettier" harnesses I've seen are super cheaply made and not really designed with the dog in mind.
