desire • Simply put, Vesper dreams of love. A fickle thing, most people think about it at one point or another in their life, and most get to experience it. Childhood crushes and flings come and go, but Vesper has tasted love in the most bittersweet way.

They were roommates when it began, a night full of jokes and laughter led to a kiss that sealed Vesper’s heart to doom. His lover was already betrothed to someone else, and they both knew what they were doing was wrong. Young and blinded by the prospect of fresh love, their trysts continued well into the months of the other’s upcoming ceremony.

It wasn’t until that day, when everything was draped in white silk and smiles surrounded him, that Vesper realized this had to stop. Seeing the affection in his lover’s now wife’s eyes crushed him, he couldn’t bare to imagine what he’d feel if this was happening to himself.

As the wedding party disbanded and moved to the reception, he straightened his tie and left the venue, never to turn back no matter how fate tried to tempt him. With heavy steps and an iron heart, Vesper continued on in life with wiser eyes.

“Sight. I want sight, all I want to do is see again... I was never able to hear well, but at least I can do that.. music is my shelter.. (hint to his fave song) my favorite feeling is crying. My favorite sound is laughter. I wish to see laughter, I’ve heard of the moon, I’ve chased it’s beams. I’ve heard of the sun. I urge to bathe in its light and look at the sky, I want to see color, flowers, trees. Then I realize I sound selfish. I feel ashamed I’ve even said what I have. But if I could just have one second to see.. that is all I need.”

Sammy Lane has always wanted to speak and communicate with others by talking, but that won't happen. He has no vocal cords and can only communicate with signals and sign language. When others speak to him, it makes him urn for a voice even more. Sammy Lane will always desire to speak but will never be able to.
