Murderers in Riverclan V.3 [welcome back!]

Lavenderstar curled her tail around Breampaw's quiet form, bending her head down to lap at his head fur.
"It'll be okay. I promise," she whispered into the night, soft blue gaze meeting his curious one.

The young apprentice quivered with each step he took towards the new leader, squishing his pelt against hers to comfort himself. "It was him, it was him, it was him," he murmured to himself, sinking to the floor as he fell asleep.

Lavenderstar sighed, picking him up by the scruff and carrying him to his nest in the apprentice's den. He had insisted on sleeping in Onyxtail's old spot, always seeming to feel safer when the she-cat was around.

The she-cat smiled to herself in understanding. She had once been in his place, with young love in the air.

With a shake of her head, she sat herself down beside the apprentice, watching his chest rise and fall with each breath. He looked so peaceful despite all of the chaos that had been going on in the past quarter-moon. Lavenderstar was glad that despite the tension and grief in the air, at least one cat could rest happily.

Leaves rustled at the edge of the den and a cat slipped through, holding a piece of fresh-kill in their jaws. Setting it down on the ground, they meowed quietly, "I brought something for you to eat. You seem a little stressed lately, what with everything and all of these deaths, you becoming leader and all of the things that come with that. So I decided that I'd do a little work for you instead, so that you don't have to worry." They stumbled over their words, trying to get everything out quickly so they could sheepishly wrap their tail around their paws.

Lavenderstar rumbled out a shaky purr, dipping her head to the cat. "That was quite kind of you. I'll share some with Breamki-- paw if you don't mind." Even she wasn't used to the new apprentice quite yet.

"Oh, I don't mind at all," they purred back, nosing the fish towards her. "Breampaw must be really sad, too. All of his family is gone..."

Once Lavenderstar had finished listening to what the cat had to say, she nudged at Breampaw until he woke up and raised his head. "What is it?" he yawned, glancing around the den.

"I've got some prey to share with you," the leader told him gently, picking up the fish and placing it beside him. "Come on, let's eat."

The cat that had just entered moved closer to the entrance, watching as the two dug into the fish they had brought.

Lavenderstar and Breampaw tore into the fish ravenously, and soon there was nothing left of it but the bones and several black specks that had been spilled onto the floor.

A few moments of silence passed before the apprentice started coughing. The killer grinned, watching as the two collapsed onto the ground. They padded up to look down on Lavenderstar with a grin. "Did you enjoy your meal? I added extra poppy seeds,
just for you."

"I-- no-- y-you-- how cou--" The leader could barely choke out a reply. Breampaw had been lying still for quite a while, but Lavenderstar was still struggling to stay alive as she fought for each life that she lost.

I failed him...

I couldn't stop it...

StarClan, where did I go wrong?...

At last, Lavenderstar lay limp on the ground beside the newly-named apprentice. The killer chuckled, staring down at the two dead figures and several poppy seeds that surrounded them.

"This den will be full of the scent of lavender soon," they muttered, turning around to slip out of the den just as they entered.

Another pair has left you, RiverClan.
Onyxtail has been made leader and Pigeonpounce has been promoted to deputy.

onyxtail stretched luxuriously, her tail waving as she shook her fur. she padded out into the clearing and yawned widely. she wondered where her leader,lavenderstar was. she shook her head before going back in the warriors den and nudging pidgeonpounce.

xxxwhen the cream and grey molly was nudged awake, she blinked groggily upwards, jaw parting in a wide yawn before she shook the sleep from her mind. "onyxtail?-" she mumbled, gaze focusing on the molly in front of her. pausing before she continued, pigeonpounce sat up and stretched, tail swaying behind her as she extended her claws in a fit to loosen herself up a little. "good morning... did i miss anything?-"

onyxtail/star perked her ears before whispering "its too quite. we should check on beamp- i mean everyone". she swished her tail before bounding over to the leaders den, sniffing around. once seeing as there was nobody, she frowned.

xxxpigeonpounce rose to her paws, pricking her ears as onyxtail did the same. she followed her around, brows furrowed with a sleepy concentration, nose twitching in agreement as she scented the air. "it.. does seem a little quiet. i'll go check on breampaw."

xxxhowever, an uneasy feeling settled in her stomach as she stepped closer to the apprentice's den, cautiously poking her nose inside, the rest of her body following. her gaze dropped to the shapes of her leader and the clan's only apprentice curled around each other, seemingly in a deep sleep. "breampaw, lavenderstar, time to wake up, we have a patrol to set-" she cooed gently, padding over to gently nuzzle the pair awake, but when she pressed her nose into their fur, she found both of them cold and stiff."lavenderstar..?-"

xxxthe molly gave a sudden, startled shriek, stumbling backwards, eyes wide. "onyxtail!-"

oynxtail frowned again before jumping as pidgeonpounce called her name. she ran over, before skidding to a stop as she saw beampaw and lavenderstar laying still. she let out a in-animal shriek and she dove towards beampaw. she nosed his fur, and once truly confirming that they were dead. she let out a low moan, her tail trailing limply on the ground as she stared. both her mentor and her crush were dead.
she flattened her ears, before whispering "i-im leader. im a apprentice age cat and im leader!". her eyes were dilated as she stood there, her ears still flattened. she turned to pidgeonpounce and whispered "and i guess your my deputy, but that doesn't matter! riverclan will dwindle out." she lowered her head, before slowly padding out of the den. rain started to slowly drizzle as she howled up at the darkening sky "WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO RIVERCLAN? DO YOU HATE US, STARCLAN?"

xxxeyes glossing over, pigeonpounce physically whimpered at onyxtail's reaction to the two dead cats in front of her. her ears pinned to the side of her head as the molly started babbling on about how she didn't think riverclan would make it through it, just as rain began dribbling from the sky above them. she stifled a choked sob as she padded towards onyxtail, trying to be comforting and nuzzled the black molly's cheek, quivering with fear and emotion.

xxx"why has starclan abandoned us," she mumbled, voice tight, "why hasn't breezefire said anything? if starclan has-"

xxxsuddenly, her entire body tensed with a realisation, almost forcing her to pull herself away. "breezefire- we haven't seen much of her. what- what if she's the cause of these murders?! what if it's her fault, what if we've been guessing wrong the entire time, that's why she's so quiet?!"

onyxtail stiffened at the accusation, before lashing her tail and whispering "your right!". she nuzzled pidgeonpounce back and whispering "at the exile, lets make sure to exile her." her tail lay limp and dragging.

xxxpigeonpounce nodded, a faint dash of determination hidden within her hazel gaze. her whiskers twitched as onyxtail nuzzled her cheek, breath growing tighter. "shall we call her out?" she questioned quietly, glancing over at the dark pelted molly with dilated pupils, a hope that they would finally be safe almost seeming to shine behind her gaze.
