Writing prompt #9 - Crow's Writing Challenge

"Promise you'll stay by my side."
Her wide, black eyes filled with tears. Her long black hair waved like a flag as the wind brushed through it gently. I could feel her emotions in me. Probably because I felt the same.
"Of course," I said, feeling some hot tears streaking down my cheeks too. I gave her a hug. We both knew we wouldn't see each other for a long time. After all this time, I began to regret all the drama I got her into. All the tough times we've experienced. Despite the rough days, I really wanted to befriend her. But now when we were close, she had to move away.
"We'll still call, right?" she asked me, wiping her tears and beginning to smile. I nodded, feeling better now too.
"Of course," I replied. "Without a doubt."
She smiled and jumped on me, hugging tightly again. We were truly friends. All the memories from our past flooded back to me. From the times that we would bicker at one another, to the times when we went out for lunch and took photos of our food for fun. Everything felt like a couple of seconds.
"I promise I'll stay by your side!"
Sooner or later, we found ourselves calling each other everyday. Each day, a different story we told each other. Even a distance didn't set us apart. True friendship is a true gem.
