Lionfang nodded. "While I didn't know how long it would be until I was ready, I felt ready when the time came. No matter how much I learned, there was still so much left to learn. I soon realized that being an apprentice is to prepare you for the rest of your life, where you will really learn things. Just trust your instinct and follow your training, and you'll know when it's time," He meowed before tilting his ears. He glanced across the clearing and saw Hazelmoon waving to him with her tail, trying to get her attention. "Looks like we're going on a hunting patrol," he commented as he started walking over to Hazelmoon and Limeleaf. "Just one last thing. You may want to get to know the apprentices a little better. Once you get your assigned mate, it may feel better if you already know them well," Lionfang suggested to Stormypaw.

Smoketail frowned at the thought of talking to Sootnose, but he guessed he should,
just out of curiousity. He heard Ashstar call his name and headed over to the apprentices' den to get his apprentice for the patrol. Before leaving, he waved his tail at Firewillow. "Goodbye and good luck with your mate too." He said, then poked his head in the apprentices' den, looking for Darkpaw.

Cloudypaw sighed as Spiritwhisker left and hoped Ashstar would take her out on a patrol or at least practice a few battle skills with her. She looked back over to Ashstar and his deputy Dappledheart. A feeling filled her heart as she hoped she'd get a mate as good as Ashstar's.

It seemed that only cat left was the patrol leader Smoketail who was still looking after his apprentice Darkpaw.

She was eyeing the leader, when another female appeared to her, narrowing her eyes she looked at Hazelmoon "I guess we are" she meowed kind of a cold tune to the she-cat. Sighing she turned to face the Lionfang with his apprentice Stormypaw making their way toward them "I guess all of us is there now..." she meowed noticing the Sootnose and Nightpaw with her apprentice Cinderpaw.

He gived the younger cat a smile, before quickly looked around the camp when the patrols was being called "Lets go now, shall we?" he meowed turning back to the young she-cat.

Rosepaw simply nodded back. Just waking up, she wasn't quite ready for a patrol, but she came along anyways.


Sandbreeze wakes up from her nap. Not too keen on getting up and hunting or anything like that, she sits up and starts cleaning herself instead.

The white tom made his towards the hunting ground, hoping to impress Mouseberry with his teaching skill."Ok, rabbits are tricky creatures to catch. if you can get one, im most certain you catch a bird easily." he said with a nod."Anyway, what you have to do is. stay low to the ground, gentle, soft steps and once your close your close enough, put all the power in your back legs and go for it. Aim for the neck and if your aim is off, try going for the legs. If you mange to spook it off, well..it might be kinda hard catch unless your very fast. " He paused." Im no to fast, so i have to be careful. Do you want me to show you, or do you want to go for it?"

Riverbriar slowly exited the warrior's den squinting her multicolored eyes in the faint light. Had she overslept again? She shook herself before she looked around seeing cats gathering up into groups, oh she definitely had overslept! Those were the first patrols of the day. She stifled a yawn and slowly looked around, what would she be doing this morning now? Perhaps she could find someone else who wasn't on a patrol to talk to this morning?

Sootnose shrugged as she moved away from the two apprentices, flicking her tail for them to follow her over to the rest of the patrol. "I'm not sure, we'll have to see where the others want to go." she said as she made her way over to Limeleaf "Hello Limeleaf." she greeted softly, she then offered a much more friendly smile to Hazelmoon as she was her brother's mate. "Hello Hazelmoon. I hope we didn't leave you waiting for too long." she said glancing back at the apprentices to make sure they'd come with her. She felt slightly bad for Nightpaw having to wait till they could train more but.. She was sure this wouldn't take that long. And in her opinion it was the better of the two patrols, she'd rather go hunting than make small chat with everyone while they searched for loners.

"Hey Spiritwhisker." he glanced behind her frowning slightly. "I suppose Smoketail's apprentice can sleep through anything." he commented dryly.

Rainypaw nodded her ears twitching slightly as she listened to him. She was silent as she tried to picture the herbs in her mind, she glanced up at him and nodded. "Catmint is used to treat greencough, Feverfew helps with fevers and aches and pains.. And tansy.." she hesitated. Narrowing her eyes slightly as she tried to figure that one out. "That one I don't know as well.." she admitted pinning her ears slightly a small look of disappointment appearing on her face.

Stormypaw nodded in agreement as his mentor spoke "Makes sense.." he commented. He supposed his mentor was right, maybe he had a lot more to think about and learn... He stood up and began to follow after his mentor his head held high "Hunting patrol? Sounds good to me-" he cut himself off and made a face at his mentor. "Oh.. Er.. Ew." he said. "I don't want to be mates with one of my friends" he grumbled. Sure he knew he needed to get closer to his fellow apprentices, he was sure his sisters were closer to them than he was, something Rainypaw was quick to remind him of. But he still considered them all his friends.. Sort of.. But he hadn't really been thinking about how one of those she-cats was his future mate. He wasn't sure how he really honestly felt about that. They were all friends weren't they? Wouldn't that ruin their friendships?

"Is there anything, in particular, you want to do today?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. "We can stroll through the territory, sit by the stream..." His long gray tail flicked contently. Mouseberry smiled as she watched Cloudstep and Flamingpaw. Once the tom signaled they were ready to go, she rose to her paws. Her tail twitching lightly as she padded along. Once they arrived at the hunting grounds, the she-cat parted her jaws, taking in the taste of nearby prey. They were lucky to have such a plentiful Greenleaf. It should make teaching apprentices to hunt much easier. Who knows what will come once leafbare arrives. Sitting down a couple tail-lengths behind the two, she observed the lesson carefully. Maybe she could even learn something from her mate!

Nightpaw watched silently as Sootnose began to pad away. He sighed quietly. Still confused about why Cinderpaw decided to approach them. Shaking his head, he put the thought away. He was pleased to see that the cats in the patrol were all decent.

Rabbitleap heard other cats shifting throughout the morning, but he decided to lay around until he got bored of it. Slowly, he sat up, spent quite some time grooming out his light brown pelt, then padded out of the den while stretching out his legs. As soon as he stepped out of the warriors' den, the first cat he saw was his assigned mate, Riverbriar. While he was by no means fond of the mate-assigning process, he saved his more... Grand compliments for the tortoiseshell. "Ah, how lucky I am, for the first cat I see is the most beautiful in the clan." He purred loudly. "Good morning, Riverbriar. I see you and I both overslept today." Well... He always overslept, so it wasn't that unusual for himself to do.

Greypaw had gotten up early this morning, and spent his time sitting around camp, tail twitching back and forth as he waited for Burningsun to come take him out for training. As his amber-colored eyes scanned the camp every now-and-then, his attention eventually settled on one of the younger apprentices, the white-and-silver figure of Cloudypaw. He found her to be one of the more tolerable of the other apprentices, and although hesitantly, he decided to stand up and approach her. "Are you waiting for your mentor, too?" He asked her with a completely neutral tone and expression.

Shellsong looked around the nursery, a soft sigh escaping her lips. She was completely grateful to Emberclan for taking her in, but having to remain in camp for this long was making her muscles ache. She had grown so used to traveling for long periods of time, and while it was relaxing to have a place to settle, it didn't feel like home yet. Perhaps when her kits finally came, it would feel more like home. The older calico rose to her paws and left the den, walking awkwardly due to her heavy stomach. Maybe she could find a warrior who'd be willing to go on a walk with her. The first cat she looked at was a brown tabby, who looked like she was around Pansy's age. Sadness stung her as she thought about her first kit, separated from her during the wildfire, but she pushed it away as she approached the young she-cat.

The queen was never very successful in socializing. She spent the majority of her life alone, until she found a band of loners, but even then, she took a while to warm up to them. "Hello... Err... Dawnflight, was it?" She gave the warrior a shaky smile. "I hope I'm not disturbing your meal, but at some point, whenever you have the time, would you mind going for a walk with me? I need to stretch my legs, and I'd feel safer with another cat to go with me." She rambled on nervously, proof that, indeed, she struggled in all types of social situations. "But if you don't wish to, I understand, I'm still a stranger to most of you."

Pansy was crouched down next to a rat she had caught, ears perked as she took in the surrounding sounds as she ate her meal. When it was especially silent like this, she would find her mind wandering. She missed Garlic's idiotic jokes that he'd crack when things got too tense for his comfort, or Olive's wise advice. She missed Ivory's dramatic shrieking over a cockroach she found in her nest, or Pepper's constant sarcasm. But most of all, she missed her mother Shelly and her father Badger. Garlic, Ivory, and Olive died of disease a while ago, but she had no idea whether Pepper, Shelly, or Badger were even alive. She could only hope they were, and that they found someplace to thrive.
