Northern QuiverThere is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.Just a taste.Name: Northern Quiver
Nickname: Thera
Looks:
The one in the middle
Rank: Herd mare
Gender: Mare
Age: 12
Height: 14.2Things left unsaid...Personality: When one looks across the Alfheim herd, Thera would not really be the first one that comes to mind. A nondescript white mare splashed with muted colours, she looks like a standard paint. Not filled to the brim with fiery dominance nor shrinking to the corner with meek submission, she is the self-sufficient and quiet sort, the type one wouldn't really pay much attention to.
However, like the stripe that starts from her forehead and trails waywardly down her muzzle, there's something a little off about the little mare. Whether it's how she carries herself, with grace drawn from an unknown source of self-confidence, or maybe how she watches everything that happens round her, though she often reserves her comments.
Most herdmates would know her as a generally agreeable individual. As long as you treat her generally amicably and don't attempt to bully her nor her young foals, she's fine(though once the goals are about a year and a half, she grows disinterested, often letting them fend for themselves.)
But if anyone tries to test her boundaries, watch out. Thera is fine with not being the most dominant out there, and if anyone more proficient than her tries to take charge she will willingly step aside, not especially bound to titles or roles. However, if she senses that someone is in over their head and will cause harm to the herd, she will not hesitate to do something about it, though this will probably be through telling someone about it.
Someone who greatly prefers anonymity, Thera isn't the loudest nor the most friendly individual. Anyone who really knows her would know her to be the nonchalant sort. It isn't really that she is disillusioned, more that she knows that this is how the world works and she doesn't really see a need to interfere in it. She knows that in this world nothing really lasts, and with the herds, everything changes frequently and quickly.
However, because she watches so much, she usually is pretty knowledgeable. She is quite content to watch everything go by, but to the rare few that she calls friends and for her foals, Thera will take action, though even then one might not know it. Thera is the type to do things in the shadows, whether be it through spying, quietly planning a coup or uncannily appearing at just the right time with just the right item, she aids things in a way where it would be hard to pin any sort of agency on her movements.
Though quiet and not exactly the most sociable, Thera is the kind that you want to have on your side, whether for want of her aid, or fear of her against you.
History: Thera actually had a relatively normal life. Born to a wayward herd near the three main herds, her parents had to skulk around, trying to avoid the notice of any of the kings. Which actually succeeded for a while, but when she was about a year or so, her father got found out and chased away, and her mother and her were taken into Alfheim.
Since she was a mare, Thera's life was spared along with her mother's, and they simply integrated into the herd. Whilst her mother was taken in, the other foals often saw her as an outsider, and the other mates saw her as future competition. Her mother tried to help, but after a year she had a foal of her own and was a little too busy to keep another eye on her 2 year old.
Forced into self sufficiently where normal mares under the kings could stay till 3 or 4, Thera had to grow up fast, learning to pick her battles and stay under the radar so she didn't get targeted and yet didn't get relegated to the bottom. Because of this, she got very good at watching everyone and learned how to do things indirectly, whether by turning gazes or finding ways to slip from sight.
Over the years, she perfected such tactics as well as growing her own arsenal. Though she often doesn't ask for a fight and isn't usually provoked, she can throw a mean kick if provoked. The little things...Pet peeves: Having to come into the limelight, things being troublesome and outside her reach.

Nickname: Phantom
Looks:
Rank: King
Gender: Stallion
Age: 15
Height: 15.2Things left unsaid...Personality: If one was to describe Phantom with two words, it would be hardy and adaptable. No nonsense and not prone to showing off, he doesn't tend to make a lot of noise. Very adaptable, Phantom often takes the trials and tribulations of life with a pinch of salt, and thinks fast on his feet to come up with a solution. To him, there is no reason to mourn the dead or the lost. Life belongs to the living, and in that sense, it only really belongs to you if you are making the most out of it. There isn't that much time before one dies oneself, and if you're joining the dead soon enough there will be enough time to think about them then.
When dealing with outsiders, Phantom is very strict. Maidens and Valkyries are allowed to choose if they'd like to join or not, in which case, he will accept them, but if they do not wish to join or are indecisive, Phantom will chase them off, not bothering with keeping them. In this sparse land where survival itself is an issue, he would rather a tight knit band than a large one. Earl's are allowed within a certain distance, but if they come way too close, he will engage them, and fast. The way he sees it, if there is going to be a fight, then having it done with as soon as possible is the way to go. He manages to do so well too, with that being how he won his herd in the first place. With a stocky build and a fast gait, Phantom is strong, and fast enough to pull his attacks off cleanly. Combine that with a fast mind, and you have a horse that is both able and willing to make his opponents bleed.
Towards his herd, Phantom tends to be relatively free form. Though he tries not to form too deep a connection to foals because he knows he has to let them go eventually, Phantom harbours deep care and affection towards his herd, which is frequently shown in how he behaves. He wouldn't get in the way of the mares during their dominant shows, but he is not above giving misbehaving foals a nip for their mothers, not the type to leave the foals to themselves. They are his children too, after all, so they should at least have a certain standard. His herd members are generally allowed to wander around, Phantom only bringing them together if there is a very real threat. After all, in jotunheim, grass is sparse and predators are few. All the same, he keeps a sharp eye and an attentive ear out at all times.
History: Coming from a land outside the three bands, Phantom was born in a large herd filled with other foals to play with, yearlings that tried to tease him and plenty of watchful eyes. He was never the biggest, nor the strongest foal, but Phantom always had a willing and playful heart, and always was up for a fight, even if he thought he would lose. But from every loss Phantom learned, and he watched other foals play at what the winning horses had done to win.
By the time he was a yearling, Phantom was winning fights with his own batch, and when he was around 2 years old the colt was playing with 3 year olds. Quickly enough though, he was kicked out the herd. With high hopes, the stallion had assumed that he would go and start his own band, but though he managed to flirt with and cover a few mares, they were always stolen by the end of the breeding season. Tired of being constantly chased out of herds and the such, he joined a bachelor band and took his sights off chasing tails for a while-though he still did when the opportunity was presented to him.
From this, he learned how to lay low, and for a period of about 6 years, he lived like that for a while, wandering and getting brief respite where he could find it. Even then, however, he watched other band stallions and how they did things. When he was 10, he was separated from the bachelor band by chance, and ended up in this land. He spent a year or so scoping out the area and observing some things, and then challenged the Jotunheim King. Long story short, he managed to win, and has kept this herd for about four years. The little things...Pet Peeves: Others whining that they don't know how to do things. In his opinion, if you don't know how to do things you watch, learn and then try and try again.
Fears: His loved ones being harmed.
Loves: Peace, winter
Young: Many, but most not played.

A City's Dream (Dream)

Small, but her personality is anything but. Tiny little spitfire. XD
With a small stature but fiery personality, Dream is loud. One wouldn't suspect Dream to be anything but a little angel when she is asleep. With a completely white coat like her dam but with slightly lighter hazel eyes, Dream being born premature means she is much smaller than the average foal and with that carries this look of fragility about her that is hard to hide.
However, when this foal moves, it is easy to see that she inherited her father's anger. With a loud opinionated voice, Dream has a strong sense of justice and self-righteousness that she also got from her father, and if anyone does anything that she perceives as not fair, she will not hesitate to tell them so. Seemingly born almost without fear, she will not allow herself to be baited or cajoled(well she will, but she'd feel incredibly guilty about it). However, she does have a caring side. Dream is incredibly affectionate toward others who gain her trust, though she tends to be wary toward strangers, warning them away with a warning snort and the pounding of her little hooves against the ground. When she finds a role model she likes, it is not uncommon to see her tailing another horse, copying their movements to a tee.
Her naïveté also shines through when any form of affection is shown. Though she refuses to move from her positions if she's decided on them, any form of compliments or grooming brings this foal over the moon. She also tends to try to take on tasks she cannot handle, and tends to see things through rose coloured glasses, being very sure of what things
should be. All in all, this foal is a character, and is one full of promise, even if her body doesn't exactly cooperate.
