Shadow and Skip grew up together in Bright-Leaf, a woodland territory. Their parents Bark, and
Moss raised them well, until they were old enough to venture on their own. That same day both of
their parents were killed by a group of hunters. Shadow and Skip never saw their parents, or most
of their friends again. Bright-Leaf now deserted, the only two residents being Shadow and Skip, they
got into a fight. Shadow, being the older sibling, and the more ambitious one, wanted to be in charge.
But Skip didn't feel that was fair, since he never was in charge of anything. Their fight lasted days, until
finally, Skip couldn't take it anymore. When he backed down, Shadow looked around, and saw the
territory was ruined. He held a grudge on Skip for that. They traveled for almost a week, refusing
to forgive each other. Finally, they reached another forest, but Skip left, and claimed the beach
nearby as his territory. It was lonely for both of them, each wishing they had some company .But Skip
decided to search for some foxes to join him on his territory. It didn't take long. He took in a couple
of foxes that had become smart to the ways of hunters, good swimmers, and a vixen with two kits
who was threatened often by badgers, and took shelter in their territory. Skip named the territory
Bright-Water, a part of his old territory sticking with him, it was also named such for its sparkling
waters beside the beach. Shadow watched his brother and decided to do the same. He filled his
territory with strong, ambitious foxes like himself, as well as fast and agile ones. He named his
territory Dark-Leaf, because it was a shady forest, and he didn't want any memories of his family,
or his old home. Bright-Water and Dark-Leaf were constantly squabbling. Then one day, the two
leaders died fighting each other. Skip had always had a favorite who constantly assisted him, as
well as Shadow. The two territories each elected them as new leaders, and the territories thrive
unto this very day. Of course, there are still the same tensions and rivalries between them, but
not as bad as when Skip and Shadow were leader.

sootkit's looks are imitating, and so is his pelt. but on the inside, he's a cat that can be shattered easily. his mother loved him, but he always saw the little flinches she made when they met eye contact. he knew how bad his father was, and he knew his mother was right to punish him for having the same pelt and eye color.

though he looks like his father, he truly isn't the same on the inside. he can be snappy, and he does have a sharp tongue. but that's because he doesn't want to get close to you, and then be a father like his dad was. he hates his father and sometimes wishes that he could claw his pelt off, but that worries him too. his father would probably think the same way.

once he loves you, sootkit's never going to let you go. if you show any signs of affection, he'll be with you always in less than a second. he will be the kindest cat you meet once you get to know him, and you'll see his eyes glow when he sees you. he looks this way at his friend, spiderpaw, at least he THINKS she's his friend. but she probably isn't, and he assumed they were best friends just because spiderpaw talks to him sometimes.

sootkit's a loner, since he doesn't want to do any harm to others. he's been sleeping away from his mother for a while now, afraid she might not love him as much. she's got new kits to take care of. is she forgetting him or burnkit already? why would she do that? and why would she become mates with springcloud?

overall, sootkit is a sweetheart that's built walls up to protect you from the pain he may cause.

'' mother? '' burnkit's squeak mewed, and sootkit lightly touched his tail with his own.
'' mother said it's time to sleep, let's do that. I don't want to annoy her. '' I murmured, and burnkit looked at me, angry and frustrated. '' she's our MOTHER for starclan's sake! stop being afraid of her! '' burnkit hissed lightly, making sure to not wake mother up. burnkit knew how I felt, afraid of the flinches she would make when she saw me. why did she do it? only starclan knew.

'' okay, okay. but YOU wake her up and don't blame ME. '' I hissed slightly, laying back down in the nest.
'' mother? mother! '' burnkit mewed, pressing his paws on mother's soft, fluffy pelt before falling over when lilyseed got up.
'' what is it burnkit? '' lilyseed said calmly, her voice like sweet honey. sootkit loved the warm, soft taste of honey. '' .... where's father? who is he? what did he look like? you said he died, but when i asked the elders they said he didn't and you should be the one to tell us. '' burnkit mewed, pestering her. burnkit always had a million questions, but always seemed to make the other queens smile. when i went around and tried to do it, the queens always looked at him disapproving and whispering about me.

'' well, sit down and i'll tell you. '' mother said, curling her tail around burnkit. I immediately jumped up from my 'slumber' and crawled under her tail, desperate to get her warmth and love. lilyseed didn't seem to notice but did lick my head fur. i[ didn't care at all, unlike the other kits.

'' well. '' mother swallowed, clearly afraid to tell them the secret they've been dying to hear all their life. '' your father was a good, handsome cat when i met him. romantic too. i fell in love with him very quickly, and the way he looked at me, he did too. and for your information, burnkit, he looked like sootkit. '' lilyseed said, memories flashing in her eyes like minnows swimming in a pond. i puffed out my chest, happy for what sounded like praise.
'' he asked me to become mates. i happily said yes, my dream cat wanted to be with me, of all cats? i was so happy. '' she said,
before her eyes darkened.
'' after we became mates, he became abusive to me. he'd claw me if i didn't do what he wanted exactly when he wanted it. i was terrified when i found out i was pregnant. '' she said, her eyes widening. sootkit wailed slightly, realizing what she was about to say.
'' he was exiled when i was almost about to give birth. he was a bad cat, he wanted to kill thunderstar. she lost a life because of him. '' she said, suddenly relaxing.

'' then i had you. '' she whispered. i wailed out suddenly, tears welling in my eyes. i was the one who shared his fur color. I was the one who shared the same eye color. I was the one who probably reminded mother of the horrible cat.

i ran out of the den, wailing. running as fast as my little paws could take me, i ran to the exit of the camp. i kept running. i couldn't see mother again, her flinches, her stares. i screeched as teeth grabbed hold of my scruff. I looked up, flailing my paws to see springcloud. the cat i saw mother mooning over.

'' no! leave me alone! I will NEVER go back to camp! '' i screeched, my paws flailing and accidently clawing springcloud on the nose. the little scratch let out a drop of blood, and springcloud looked calm, despite what the little kit did. '' you are going. your mothers very scared right now. '' he said calmly, affection in his gaze at little me. '' i bet she'd be HAPPY if i left. maybe she'll finally have the cat she's mooning over, YOU! '' i hissed. springcloud looked at me, happy. '' sootkit, your father isn't that cat your mother told you about.
i'll be your father now. ''
he said, and happy tears were in my eyes.
'' t-thank you. i'll come back to camp with you,
father. ''

from that day on, sootkit loved springcloud. he was the cat he wanted mother to have. he was the cat that deserved her love and warmth. they shared happiness together, and grief. like the time that burnkit died. sootkit was depressed that day, crying and wailing in camp. he first coughed up blood. then more blood. then he coughed up so much blood, that sootkit guessed he died. he hated that moment, waking up to see his brother's body cold and blood dripping down his mouth.

springcloud had sootkit's trust, springcloud was his father. but that word still didn't seem to fit. and the cat he once called father, was having his own kits. why couldn't he just keep sootkit? but sootkit knew springcloud wouldn't care for him that way anymore, and he'd probably forget burnkit easily. burnkit, the brother whom he loved so much. and now he'd have MORE brothers!
while most cats said to him it'd be a great chance to finally have a brother again! he thought it wouldn't. his brother wouldn't be forgotten. a
he didn't want to be second best again, and he knew these kits would take up all of mother's love, and springcloud's too. he knew burnkit would watch HIM, but he'd never watch lilyseed the way she's acting!
