awakening souls. wrote:Aww, sorry to hear about that! That sounds really frustrating. My late dog was allergic to gluten, nuts, and chicken, but for some reason, she seemed to do okay with chicken fat and chicken liver... I'm not really sure why, but it saved us a bit of hassle. If Shadow can have chicken fat, I'd perhaps check this out? You mentioned she didn't do too well with the other fish formula, but maybe she'd give this a go?
https://firstmate.com/product/pacific-ocean-fish-meal-original-formula/ Totally understandable if it's not for you!
I've not looked into Firstmate, but I have Kasik's! The biggest thing that held me back on Kasik's was the amount of lentil and pea in the formula. I'll dig deeper into Firstmate for sure! I'm willing to give anything a go at this point.

Shadow's allergy panel results came back and she's allergic to corn, soybean, duck, rabbit, rice, lamb, and turkey. Had the boyfriend order Under The Sun's chicken formula and she's reacting horribly to that, too. Now it's back to the drawing board. Unfortunately, along with being cursed with an extensive list of allergies, she's also incredibly picky and won't eat a formula with solely fish long enough for the purchase to be worth it. Zignature Pork is on the list to try next. Wish us and our bank accounts luck. All of the half eaten bags of food are piling up quick!
In other news, Opie cost me another 300$ vet bill a month ago after he flared up with some sort of skin infection. Cause is still unknown, but I've already weaned him from the steroids so that's good.
Ouch, I feel you. Are you feeding kibble? You might have better luck with canned or raw since it's smellier. You can always mix canned with kibble and some dogs are able to tolerate raw with kibble, either might help with costs. If fish is okay have you tried sardines packed in water? They're very smelly and might appeal to your dog. You could try mashing one up and mixing it in with the other food if she likes it. Or maybe just try mixing the pork with the fish? Good luck, I know how exhausting it is when you get that long list of allergens back.
On top of all of Chloe's allergies she's got a sensitive tummy and can't tolerate certain things (at least in raw form). Luckily she can still have duck so that's her main food. I give her dehydrated fish from the same company (Vital Essentials) but have to put it in a kong as she doesn't like to eat it out of a bowl.

Primarily kibble with canned every now and then. She's 1 of 3 German Shepherds in the house and everyone is kept on the same feeding schedule, so it's hard to have them on different diets. Ideally our dogs would be on some variation of raw, but it's not possible considering living situations at the moment! She lives with my boyfriend and his father, as well as his 2 GSD. I'll pass along the sardines suggestion for sure! My poor boyfriend is desperate lol. I appreciate all of your advice!
Definitely love Vital Essentials, though. That's my go-to brand for my raw fed cat.
& Thank you Awakening Souls! I'm hoping we find something soon that works! For a while the Acana Pork & Squash was doing great for her, but it's become too much of a hassle to chase it down anymore. Really hoping the Zignature Pork is a close enough match.

@Middy I'm glad to hear that you are doing well post-op!
I hope that your healing process is quick and smooth. (:
As for puppy names - my vote goes for Flurry! My second choice is Arrow. (: Flurry is pretty and is something that I have never heard as a dog name before.
I know 3 "Haze"'s right now. All young dogs. I think it's trending haha! 1 is an Aussie, 1 is a Siberian Husky and the last is a ACD mix.

Thanks guys, I’m dying to get back to normal with my Kes but it’s taking awhile as expected lol. Can’t do a ton with her when I have a 15inch insicion down my spine lol.
And Arrow is my top choice at the moment. Her breeder suggested a registered name to fit with the theme as well that I really like. Would probably shorten it to Air as well lol.
Still thinking on names though for sure, I’ve got time though since I don’t pick her up until the middle of next month. Right now I’m starting my online shopping which is always fun lol.
Haze is cute but idk if it’s the right one for her. I like Flurry a lot but think it fits a merle better tbh.

Sardonyx is a very talented dog. She managed to step on a stick, it flip up and stab her in the spay incision and pop a stitch. HOW?! Vet said a popped stitch past day 7 is fine as it should be sealled to near-about sealled but c'mon. Also, silly, but our new vets stitch work is so nice! Its so neat, tidy, and even. No bruising or weird puckering. Ahh <3 I dont think she will have a scar (not that it really matter though). Ive seen some barbaric stitch work and bruising from vets that didnt take their time and were way to rough.
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

Two new family members arrived a few days ago!

A very good friend of my dad's is moving and he couldn't take his dogs with him so he has given us Sergio, a beautiful Belgian Malinos and Pip, the cutest little Pomeranian I've ever seen. They're getting along really well with our other dogs, Justin and Sergio are inseparable.
I have quit. Goodbye.

Killian went to petsmart Sunday and got a bath and haircut. Then rolled in dirt right when we got home lol. I got him a new sweater as well and it is adorable on him
