Yeah sometimes they just gain weight to gain weight... or they don't gain any weight and have like 6 hoglets. X'D
I really hope there are babies soon, though!
Thea's been sneezing since Wednesday.
It only took visits to two different vets to get things sorted out.
First vet said nothing was wrong on Friday. She got worse overnight, so Saturday I called that clinic back and their vet who doesn't see exotics prescribed antibiotics for me. Found a new vet, that we both love, today and got the dosage on the antibiotics sorted out perfectly.
And it's pina colada flavored ahah

geck0 wrote:Still no babies. The breeder thinks that they didn't take. Q3Q Guess you
were right, Dia! I guess she has some other pairs that she said may have
litters for December so we shall see.. QvQ
Hedgies can be tricky!
The woman who I got Thea from thought for sure she wasn't going to get babies. Then Thea and her sisters happened lol

I guess XD) but doesn't think that they took. I am really hoping that
the new pairs go through ;u; We really want our new hedgie, its been
quite awhile since we made the decision to get another one and it
is starting to feel like it may never happen. ;3; We are trying to keep
patient but man seeing all the pictures and videos online is starting
to make that hard. <33

Are you a hedgehog owner?: Y E S! <3
If yes, for how long? I have had a total of three hedgies! So i have hedgehogs experience for a total of 3 years now!
What are their names? My first hedgehog (she passed away from lymphonic cancer :c ) her name was Arwen, and i have two now, a male named Pippin (2 years) and a female named Lena (11 weeks!)
If no, do you want get one? well im planning on breeding my two once Lena is old enough c:

Hi Circean!
Have you been working with an experienced breeder as a mentor? And is there a breeder nearby who you will be able to work with in case your girl decides to reject her babies? This way, your mentor can have another hedgie who has babies that are about the same age, and she can be a surrogate mom (since hand rearing teeny hedgie babies is rarely successful).
Do both of your hedgehogs have pedigrees so you can be sure that they are not related and that their lines are free of genetic disorders like WHS?
I only ask because breeding hedgehogs is actually extremely complicated and also often extremely heartbreaking. There are also so many irresponsible breeders out there flooding the market with hedgehogs with poor health and genetics. :c I just have to advocate for them <3

No no, i don't mind the questions at all! There are actually little to zero hedgie breeders around here, which is why making them an easier find for those looking to purchase one in my area would be an amazing opportunity i thought. I have been researching the process of breeding hedgies for years now, I just never wanted to fully dive into it until about now. I have spoken deeply with many breeders though who sometimes come around fro reptile expo shows and sell their hedgies (which is where I got my female from...papers and all dating back 7 generations). My male is from New Mexico (he was never registered, although I was going to do that and begin here). He is a very healthy little boy and had has a very healthy life as far as im concerned. Before doing anything I'm bringing them both to my exotic vet down the street for any checkups and future concerns (I actually believe she has a few hegdies at home and she has breed them before....that being said she isn't a "breeder" but she does have experience...which is only a 2 min drive from my apartment (-: )
Now I am very unconcerned about the possibility of my two being related considering Pippin is from New Mexico and Lena is from the Illinios Area (chicago i think) with generations of history on her parents and so on

Yeah, neither of the moms from previous pairings from the breeder got pregnant, but the breeder paired some others.
Which one is your favorite? ovo
1-
Nova x
Mercury2-
Electra x
Willie G3-
Bel Air x
Diablo4-
Skylark x
LincolnI am really leaning towards a Sky x Linc baby, but I also like Electra x WillieG.. My boyfriend will probably want a Sky x Linc or Nova x Merc baby. The main decision is up to him on who we get, and on which mamas take to these breedings if any do at all. Here is to hoping that we will have a new member of the family come new years! ovo
