is Link purebreed? and are you in the i think i read something about a worldwide study with dobi, for possible heart disease?
Thank you, took a lot to get both of them looking at me at the same time for it lol.
Link is purebred, but sadly from a BYB. He's still a great dog, and so far we've not had any major health concerns (fingers crossed that keeps up). I get a blood panel and full exam done every six months to keep an eye on things. And we are starting yearly ECG testing this year once my uncle gets back into town. He owns two veterinary offices a couple cities over from us and will be able to send us home with the holter monitor vest for half the cost of going to our regular vet.
I think you're referring to the genetic diversity study? I believe that one does go into the two markers they've found for DCM. I have been debating ordering the test kit for that and probably will the next time I have a three paycheck month and funds to spare.

could be, but it was a test where owner drive to the place or a vet who does this, they cut some fur away at head, i think the belly and leg then take different blood samples, check the heart when dog is calm and after different workout an Training, some brain tests, an again blood and heart, this for a day or two each year, when i remember right from puppy of 15week to old dog.
i had a short look into this because of a dobi owner who did lose some dogs because of this, one was only a year and some month, and got shocked by a wild animal that got in the yard and surprised the dog badly the owner only told that dog was barking in the house they let him out then a strang bark and found the dog in his last moment..dobi who got this there parents and siblings are tested and often all pulled out asap from any breeding rights. but they still get dobi aand try to look for known healthy lines.

good that your dog seems healthy im happy for you:) great that you want to ttest yearly andd that you uncle is such agreat help^^
hope you Show more pics of this two cute ones ;)

i haven't posted in so long... :(

Chess got very sick last week and we couldn't get to the vet. She fortunately recovered on her own but her paws are still really bad. She won't let them heal. Justin is good, he's coming along very well with attention training. He likes hanging out in his outdoor kennel, it's very roomy in there.

Yesterday, we made the nine-hour trip and adopted an adorable little lab/bc mix by the name of Levi. He is eight months old and was one of the worst affected victims of a hoarding situation involving 76 other dogs. He's so cute and I can't imagine what he's been through. We set up a cage for him in the kitchen, Justin really doesn't like him but Chess doesn't mind him that much.
My little brother is obsessed with him and I feel like he'll turn out to be a dog that begs for everything, thinking he can get his way.

What breeds are most common where you live?

Golden retrivers
Seriously, almost everyone where I live have kids and goldies (and every sort of goldie mix) are the most common here.

What are your top three favorite breeds?

GSD (Justin is a GSD/Elkhound mix)
English springer spaniel (my dream dog, although probably not a good match for my lifestyle)
Siberian husky (My friend has the most beautiful one I've ever seen named Dakota)
I have quit. Goodbye.
Profile pic is art of my GSD/Elkound mix, Justin. Credit to Kasezki on Deviantart.

Flossie wrote:@RebelliousWinter, I adore Irish Setters. Over here in Ireland, they’re Setter Irish and Setter Irish Red and White, at least that’s what the IKC calls them. You actually don’t see a lot of them here. My relative has one called Rua, and I’ve seen one or two at shows, but apart from that. Rua’s a beauty though, I see him quite often and he’s such a quirky dog. If he likes you, he’ll put his giant paw on your head, which is adorable, but also very heavy lol. I’ve lots of photographs of him, I’ll have to post some!

What are your top three favorite breeds?
Bichon Frisè’s,
Samoyed’s,
And probably Red Setters.

What breeds are most common where you live?
Collies,
Jack Russell’s,
Retrievers.
You see all three on such a regular basis, and it’s really made me less fond of the breeds, especially collies.

Oh! I didn't realize they had a different name over in their homeland. That's pretty cool.
I'm surprised though there aren't that many. I figured they'd be pretty popular. I would love to see pictures of Rua! (Lovely name btw)

what breeds are most common where you live

    - overpriced backyard bred american bullies being claimed as ‘purebred blue-nosed pitbulls’ lol.
    - herding breeds : heelers, border collies, mixes of them. theres a “breed” called the american shag and its airedale, border collie, etc. the airedale gives them ugly, shaggy coats and theyre bred for herding / working with cattle.
    - german shepherds
