ged mates. there's also true mates, and cats who fight to be togethe
r and cats who love each other that much will be tested in a life-or-
death situation, the star-signed trial. they won't be injured, but the
y will be faced with many dangers. the mountain is magical, and the
closer bond the two cats have, the less dangerous and more protect
ed the cats are. so if they truly love each other, and will sacrifice eve
rything for their lover, they will be protected. they must survive thre
e days. if they safely return, the north star will shine brightly. that's

their ancestors telling astralclan they passed, and are worth being each other's mate, hence, true mates. if they pass, the north s
tar does not shine. it is preferred that they no longer interact with each other. if they still believe they are true mates, they can ta
ke it again, but the stakes are higher. you could actually get injured because their ancestors have limited magic. every full moon,
there's a hidden cave only star-readers know of, magic is collected from the moon. the heirs learn about it when the star-reader
s get a sign that their end is near. full moons are every moon, and it doesn't collect a lot, so the ancestors don't want to waste a
lot of magic on something that is most likely going to fail. if they failed once, it is likely to fail again. unless their intentions are
true. if they fail again or failed before, they're sometimes looked down upon, because love and loyalty is a major thing in this cl
an. if you never gets a mate, or that you aren't compatible with your assigned mate, you are considered cursed, and most cats wi
thout a mate want to avoid that cat because they believe it can spread. of course, that doesn't often happen. back to the mountai
n and the star-signed trial. ever since the mountain was destroyed, astralclan's ancestors haven't received as much magic, and ar
e now becoming more and more frugal. that is why they haven't been able to bless cats or anything at all. they have little magic

assigned mates have been a thing of this clan for generations. why? to keep a strong bond. kits were only an option if both cats c
onsented with the idea, or if they actually learned/fell in love with each other. but then, there are true mates. to become true
mates, the pair would go through a life-or-death trial in the mountains. predators and other horrible things would happen to the
m, but if they were truly in love with each other, and no matter what they would do anything for the other, they would survive.
it lasts three nights, and if they return safely, they are granted and blessed a happy life. of course, nothing bad actually happens
to them. just a minor scrape or disappointment at most. if they do not last a day, they are not true mates and will be given an as
signed mate.

like in the introduction and above, there are assigned mates, but ever since the mountain was destroyed, there has been no trial

ts are getting angry and irritated. they want to be with cats whom they love but never get the chances. there have been many ru
naways, murder, and more. if a cat doesn't have a mate, they can request to be assigned to a certain cat, which happens to be t
he one they love. that is rare, which is why some cats went to murder their/the one they love's assigned mate. moonlitsky create
d a law that if you wanted to be true mates, a blessing would be shown in the stars. it is usually a faint response from their ance
stors that still are able to send messages, but it rarely happens. about every fourty moons, because astralclan's ancestors' power
is low, and they want to bless pair's, to know that they accept their love, but it rarely works, again, about every fourty moons. b
ut now, it's becoming less, and less often. soon it will hit every one-hundred moons. moonlitsky is aware of all of the forbidden r
elationships, but dissagrees with it, and hates the thought of it. she knows it's the only way to be happy for her clanmates, but s
he will not allow it. not to mention her deputy is completly against it as well, and her deputy happens to be one of her best frien
ds, so it helps to have them reinforce the 'no forbidden mates' rule.

e with the male, who believes he loves her back. moonlitsky loves her clan too much, so she can't betray the shecat, but she also
loves (male cat here). moonlitsky refuses to run away from her clan to be with him, and won't become forbidden mates with him.
so there's one option. restore the trials and happiness to astralclan. what journeys will they be forced to go? will the clan fall int

still confused about the trial? here's a more detailed/ better-explained version ^^

in the mountain, they travel for three days. during that time, there are many dangers, that would normally be life-threatening, but the mountain is magical, so if their bond is true, they are protected, and their ancestors use that love to turn into a shield to protect them from all bad. their ancestors have the ability to see into the future, so they look into both cats' futures, and if they mostly have a happy ending together and are happy with each other, they bless them and give them their permission, and send a star sign to the star-reader.
if their bond isn't strong enough, and that they don't truly love each other, then they will receive bad effects, like hallucinations, anxiety, fear, etc. basically making them go insane. of course, they won't be injured because their ancestors aren't that cruel. if they fail, they're usually mocked or put down by the clan, which is just a response, and because they failed the trial, they are assigned a mate and forced not to talk to the other unless allowed by the herbalist/star-reader, or they can do the trail again if they prove that they deserve another chance.
a horrible storm swept by, lasting weeks. it ravaged throughout the mountain, and the stone that connects the ancestors to the mountain that receives/give magic was eroded and washed away. barely any of astralclan survived. now, they want to restore it and gain the connection with their ancestors once more, and most importantly, be able to be with the cats they truly love, without sacrificing so much.
