Cloudbreeze sucked in a breath at Quietstar’s announcement. The naming of the deputy! Could this be the day her dreams come true? Her heart ached with longing to take up the noble position of deputy. But sitting on her tail and getting anxious wasn’t helping anyone. “I’d like to go on a patrol as well,” she added behind Sunpaw’s mew.

Russetfox brushed against Reedgaze’s fur reassuringly. “Don’t worry, even if the dog is still out there, we have plenty of strong fighters who can take care of it. We’re still safe, although the dog is still worrying. But I’ll protect you,” he mewed, his voice hardening. No one would ever, ever hurt Reedgaze as long as he had strength enough to stand. A surge of protectiveness pulsed through him and he curled his tail around her back instinctively, before realizing it. “U-um, I mean- uh-” he stammered awkwardly.

Leap glared at the dark grey tom, before turning his eyes to the ginger one, at his words, Leap paused.
"Willowclan?" His eyes darted to the grey tom again before he asked.
"Is this where the star cats are from? The ones that visit in dreams?"
He held his breath, realising how stupid the question was.

☞EAGLEFROST smiled up at his mate as they made eye contact, wanting to both reassure and encourage her. Though the meeting was brief, he found it to be competent, covering exactly what it needed to cover. At the mention of patrols, the ginger tom decided to offer his services once he'd been to the medicine cat for a bit of wound inspection. The warrior stood from his seated position towards the back of the camp, making his way closer to the rock and his mate. Grunting slightly at the raw sensitivity of his minor nips and scratches, his progress was slow. At last, he made it to the rock's base where he sat, patiently awaiting Quietstar. He was more than a little curious to discover who she was considering for the important role of deputy. While he stood, the tom racked his col gaze across the assembled cats, picking out one tom in particular. Rayfeather made him uneasy. Staring at the other warrior for what seemed like an eternity, Eaglefrost finally tore his gaze away and attended to a quick grooming of his ruffled pelt.

☞WRENTALON lit up at the prospect of finally discovering which of the qualified cats would earn the title of deputy. The end of patrols simply couldn't come fast enough! For as long as she could remember, the pretty she-cat had dreamt of one day filling that role and maybe even some day leader. A dedicated member of the clan, the hunter had and would always put the future and safety of her clan above all else. But of course it could never be her now could it? Reminding herself that she was nothing more than a hunter, she let her own dreams fade to the back of her mind, no less excited to discover which among them was about to become second in command. Once Quietstar had finished her short and to-the-point meeting, the lithe she-cat stretched herself out, limbering up her body before weaving through the sea of cats towards the rock, ready as always to offer her services as one of the first for the hunting patrol. Once there, she spotted her brother, quietly assessing his wounds, deeming them minor, though probably quite uncomfortable.

Skypaw rushed to the strange loner's and her clanmate's sides, her entire body shaking very badly. "Are you all ok? Where are you hurt?" she asked, searching their body. Her eyes widened at the loner's words about star cats and she looked at the other cats near him. "Starclan..?" escaped her lips as a whisper. The young she-cat tried to keep some of her attention on the meeting.

Owlpaw smiled slightly, excited to share a training session with the other apprentice. He nodded eagerly and opened his jaws to answer his mentors previous question but was cut off by the dog. He stared at the large, lumbering creature as his clan mates attacked it without hesitation and his ears filled with white noise. Owlpaw froze, and if his mentor hadn't been there to protect him, he would have been completely exposed. After the threat was chased away, he was hit by a wall of shame and stared at his paws while waiting for his leader to continue her sudden meeting.

"Of course," he responded to his mate's apprentice. He had just taken his first bite when the dog crashed in. He attacked the creature with flying claws, growling deeply by his mate's side. The growling didn't subside until a few long moments after the dog ran away and out of sight. When the cats gathered for the meeting, Pearpelt pressed himself tightly to Wolfheart's side and licked her fur. "Were you hurt?" he asked softly, voice and eyes full of concern and worry.

Nightleaf heard the calling and tried to stand, but fell back into her nest. She let out a loud yowl, forced from her mouth, and squeezed her eyes closed.

Brairpaw had wanted the role of medicine cat, but seeing how eager Elmpaw was as a kit had... made her let it go. The usually sweet she-cat felt a tinge in heart heart. Either from jealousy or something else she couldn't tell.

Ashfrost snorted at the thought of it, "No. And you're telling me you didn't smell the border or any of my clanmates and just managed to run straight into the heart of our territory?" Ashfrost paced around the cat, analysing him. He agreed with Skypaw's line of thinking but he couldn't deny the thought of this loner having a dream from StarClan was... too out of place for him to say in confidence that the tom was lying, but he didn't trust this loner in the slightest.

"What's your true story? Are you a spy? Were your parents exiled? Is this a ploy to take revenge?" He continued pressing, suspicious.
