➳ Eliza Swanson

Eliza wasn't like Angelica when it came to seducing and playing with men, or anyone for that matter. However, she couldn't help but smile at the teasing that went on between Angelica and Alexander. She found his words to be very enchanting, and she would have been lying if she said her cheeks didn't become a little rosy due to her blushing. She tried to control her emotions, and she smiled nicely as she watched Angelica toy with him. There was such confidence in this man. He didn't seem phased by Angelica's challenges. Eliza would have challenged him herself, but she didn't have a way with words as her sister did. She was definitely not the quiet type; however, she also wasn't the type to come up with witty responses. She stuck to polite or funny things because she could come up with things to say. Flirting and manipulation had never been Eliza's strong suit.
She couldn't stop being intrigued by his confidence. The trait was often seen as arrogant and cocky to her; however, it seemed to suit him. His determination made him more attractive than she already found him to be. His confidence wasn't anything like the traits she often saw in the egotistical men that attended her father's galas. He was different. He seemed to have a whole plan for his life, and she greatly admired his work ethic. When he introduced himself as "Alexander Hadley," her heart fluttered a bit. She liked his name. It seemed to suit him perfectly, and it was a lovely title.
Her first thought after his introduction was to introduce herself as well, but Angelica seemed to be playing hard-to-get. Eliza knew she was no good at this, but she wanted to give a good effort. He seemed to be more than willing to chase them and battle them on an intellectual level. Angelica seemed skeptical, and Peggy seemed to be getting distracted. Eliza decided to attempt to make her move to stake herself in the conversation. "I admire your confidence, Alexander," Eliza said with a small smile. She felt there was more she could say, but she didn't know how. She didn't want to say it was a pleasure to meet him, even though she thought it was. She knew she had to attempt to play hard-to-get, but she couldn't seem to find a witty response to keep up the steam that her sister possessed. There was only a brief pause though before she figured out the perfect addition to her response. "Too much confidence, however, can be dangerous," she added with a small smirk. She felt good knowing she had come up with a somewhat witty comeback. She knew she wasn't the best at playing the game, but she felt good that she had managed to come up with something even if it wasn't as great as her sister's.

Peggy loved flirting with guys as much as Angelica, but she just couldn't get into it with Alexander. He was attractive in a scruffy way, and she understood why Eliza was so intrigued by him. However, he wasn't her age, and Peggy felt somewhat uncomfortable in the conversation. She eyed the young man she had been watching earlier and looked at Alexander and her sisters. They seemed to be enjoying the flirting and teasing, especially Eliza, who appeared to be coming up with some witty responses of her own. She smirked at Alexander a bit and tried to figure a way out of the conversation. "Well, Alexander, you have fun with my sisters," Peggy began with a nice smile. "They are quite the handful, but nothing someone as confident as you can't handle. Good luck," she told him blowing him a flirty kiss and walking off. She noticed Eliza seemed a little confused by her actions, but Peggy didn't really care.
Eliza and Angelica had always been very overprotective of Peggy, but Peggy wasn't a little girl anymore. She was okay with Eliza and Angelica enjoying a flirty conversation with someone else, but Peggy wanted to meet other people. She still had her eye on the attractive man by the food table. Before heading over there, she went to grab a glass of wine. She tried to seem sophisticated and twirled it around in her glass a bit before sipping it. As she walked around, she passed by Gilbert and George W. again. She wanted to say something to Gibert because she had watched their channel before, but she also didn't want to interrupt their conversation.
As if by fate though, she tripped over another woman's dress and spilled her wine on the man that stood next to Gilbert. Luckily, the wine only got the bottom of his pants and his shoes. Peggy gasped and set her glass down on the open table behind where Gilbert and George were standing. "I am so very sorry," she said. "I can't believe I did that. I am so clumsy," Peggy told him. She felt completely embarrassed. Of course, this happened to occur right in front of Gilbert. She smiled sheepishly at him and looked at George. He didn't seem too bad at her, but Peggy still felt very bad. Her fear faded as the man chuckled a bit. "Don't worry about it, Peggy," he assured her. "It's just a little wine, and most of it ended up on my shoes anyways," he told her. She felt relieved and sighed with relief. "Would you like me to go get some towels or some napkins?" She asked him anxiously. "That won't be necessary," he began, but Peggy had already rushed off to find some napkins at the food table. She felt awful for spilling on him, and she knew she had to make up for it.
➳ George Whitmore

George smiled sheepishly, which was not a typical look for him. He felt a little awkward with the praise for being a city council member. He never thought of it as the kind of occupation that was worth any praise. After they shook hands, he noticed Gilbert seemed a little unsettled by something. If Gilbert was a merman, it only made sense that he could probably sense a coldness to George's hands. This was just one many awful things he hated about being a vampire. His skin was extremely cold, and when he was thirsty, his eyes often turned red. Luckily, he had filled himself up before coming and could go a few days without human blood before there was any difference in the shade of his eyes.
When Gilbert spoke of his accent and how he had lived in America for four years, George thought that was quite nice. George would have loved to have grown up somewhere outside of the United States. Now, George loved the U.S. in more ways than one, but he also loved the culture, architecture, and beauty of European countries. He would like to travel to one someday, but he wasn't sure that would ever be on his agenda. If he could work his way up to the president, maybe it would be in the cards, but for now, he was accepting that he may never see any European country. When Gilbert asked about his accent, he smiled a bit. He never saw himself as someone with a thick southern accent, but he knew that most people could pick it out when compared to a New Yorker's accent. "I'm from Virginia actually. I was born and raised there, but I moved to New York after my time on the National Guard," he told Gilbert with a smile.
He felt his heart skip a beat at the mention of his suit. He thought it had been a little too simple or basic, especially compared to some of the suits he saw, like Gilbert's for example. Gilbert looked rather dashing, and George admired his well-made suit. Of course, the compliment had been aimed towards the fit of the suit, but it still made George feel good. The suit was a year or two old, and he probably needed it tailored, so it felt even better to hear that it still looked good on him. "Thanks, I know this suit is a year or two old, so I didn't think it would fit as nicely as it did. It's my favorite suit though. I only wear it for special events, and it's been a while since I've worn it, so I thought it could go back into the mix," George told Gilbert. He felt a little shameful for not having more suits, but he just didn't have the money to own a collection. He often stuck to dress pants and a dress shirt for work over a full-out suit.
George then noticed that Gilbert's glass was empty. "Would you like me to refill that for you?" George asked politely. The food and wine tables were not far away, and he would have loved to be of service to Gilbert. Right as he was about to grab the glass, a young woman tripped and spilled her own wine on the bottom of his pants and his shoes. He instantly recognized the young woman as Peggy Swanson, the daughter of Arthur Swanson. She quickly began to apologize, and he could tell she was very flustered and embarrassed. He assured her that it was no problem and that she did not need to get anything to clean it up, but before he could tell her, she had run off in search of napkins. He chuckled a bit and looked at Gilbert. "She's one of the Swanson sisters; in fact, she is the youngest of them. They are all wonderful young women, and she's such a sweetheart," he told Gilbert. He paused a bit hoping that it didn't seem like he was at all interested. "I'm a friend of their father's in a way. We have met a few times at these parties, and he's a very charitable and sociable man," George added awkwardly. He felt stupid for needing to explain himself, but he felt it would help make more sense. He gently shook off his shoes a bit and decided to wait for Peggy to come back.
➳ John Lawrence

John noticed that his new friend was enjoying the sights of the ballroom as much as he was. It truly was breathtaking, and everyone was dressed in the most formal outfits he had ever seen. He wished he could say he had the same amount of money as anyone in the room, but he knew for a fact that his life was nowhere near the worth of anything in that place. He cleared his throat awkwardly awaiting a response from his new sidekick. He didn't feel too uncomfortable though because he knew it was a lot to take in. He could barely get over it himself, but he did eagerly await to know the man's name.
When Aaron said his name, he smiled. Aaron was a lovely name, and his last name reminded John of the title of a duke. He felt extremely poor and unworthy compared to all of the people in the room. Even Aaron seemed more sophisticated and gentlemanlike than John was. John took Aaron's hand and shook it with a firm grip. It was common for werewolves to lack complete control over their strength, but he made sure that he did not squish Aaron's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Aaron. My name is John Lawrence," he replied with a big smile. He didn't know if he should have mentioned in his introduction that he was a teacher of all things. He felt so inferior to all of the others in the room. Of all of them, he probably had the lowest paying salary. It made him feel weak, but he knew that he could at least beat the majority of them if it came down to wrestling.
He wondered if he should try to chat with Aaron or leave him be. Was he worthy to speak to any of the people here? He supposed none of them knew he was a teacher, and Aaron was a handsome and nice guy. Would it be bad to talk to him? John recalled that Aaron had been looking for his plus one though, and his heart sank a bit. He knew that would be a good way to start a conversation though. It was a thought that he was wondering. "Aaron, earlier you mentioned a plus one? Do you know where they are?" John asked. He hoped it was a no. If he could have someone to spend time with during the gala, it really would help, but he also knew that he couldn't hold Aaron back from time with someone that he had to be with. He didn't want to ruin any of Aaron's plans.
[ don't worry! you don't always have to post about a character if it just doesn't work! i tried to steer Peggy away from her sisters so maybe George could casually approach her and try to befriend her ] [ also, we talked about earlier how all of the characters should get asked about Peggy and interviewed after she goes missing. i hope it is okay if i have her bump into other characters, so everyone can start meeting and stuff ]
