♛ARKADY RHYAS FEYRE
18 / female / heterosexual / half quell, half howler / tags> Hawthorne / loc> palace
Arkady lightly blushed at the compliment but it quickly disappeared. ”Thank you. You don’t look half-bad yourself.” Her voice was barely above a whisper, so only he could hear. He smelled of rich spices and she breathed in deeply. ”Your heart is racing again.” Arkady could hear the blood pounding through his veins, the sound so distinct in her ears. It was a mystery to her on why, but she figured she would find out at some point. Her right hand drifted to her leg where underneath the dress she had strapped a her dagger. The blade was pressed up against her skin, a bit painfully but nothing she couldn’t handle. Frankly, she had no interest in this dinner. It just made her nervous and not knowing anyone but Hawthorne was a bit distressing.

ℬ𝓪𝓼𝓲𝓵/ 𝓠𝓾𝒆𝓵𝓵/ ℒ𝓸𝓬𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷: The water fall, Forest/ 𝓣𝓪𝓰𝓼: Soren, Donatello, Spencer
Basil stayed close to Soren, still mostly behind him even though she had spoken up. She was grateful that he didn't mind her doing so. It wasn't necessarily that Basil was afraid of getting caught, it was her social anxiety and her soft spoken personality that made it hard to talk to Donatello. The nobleman seemed to be challenging and quick to turn whatever they said against them. Though, she didn't know why Donatello seemed to dislike her and Soren. Basil frowned deeply at his mocking attitude, but didn't say anything. Soren seemed to be able to handle Donatello easily. Basil was to flustered to say anything. She felt that she would just stumble over her words and sound foolish if she tried. But, as Donnie mentioned a purification system, Basil immediately perked up a bit. She seemed very interested in the idea of it. " How?" Basil asked, looking directly at Donnie," How can you successfully make a ground water purification system before the contaminates get into the city? I've not read much on the mechanics of..." She trailed off, shrinking back closer towards Soren, but not so they touched" Never mind..." Basil said quietly, tugging on her bangs anxiously. Now's probably not the time to learn about water purification systems.... She thought bitterly. Basil looked away as the other two talked. This was only wasting time. They had to do something about this forest fire. Basil felt it was the right thing to do. She didn't want to see the beautiful forest destroyed or the animals and Howlers hurt.

" You're more than welcome" Hawthorne nodded, smiling a bit more. He blushed faintly as she noticed his heart beat quicking. " I guess I'm a little nervous...." Hawthorne chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck," About what, I'm not quite sure yet." He smiled at her softly, offering her his arm again. " I'm afraid there's been a slight change of plans with dinner. It seems that all of my family are either busy or out of the palace. It's strange, this doesn't usually happen. Im sorry you won't get to meet them all tonight it seems" He said, his eyes sparkling in rather amused way," I guess you'll have to put up with me as your dinner companion."

Arkady shook her head and smiled lightly. ”Let me know when you have figured it out.” She looped her arm around his and listened to him speak. Arkady nodded and looked at the ground as she walked. ”Pardon me when I say I’m a bit relieved.” It seemed her hopes had come true and that she had avoided meeting the Royal Family. She raised her hand from where it rested at her leg and decided that she should avoid telling Hawthorne that she was bringing a weapon to dinner. Her own heart began to beat wildly. It was all to much. She couldn’t give up the spark inside her that told her danger is always near. Arkady’s walls had been up so long that taking them down would be a battle.

Donatello | Aboveworld
Donnie rubbed the back of his neck, highly annoyed to be questioned on the specifics of how the purification system worked. Shouldn't they be learning how Solodin continued to flourish although being forced to remain underground? His eyes darted to Soren, a flare of anger rose up inside him. His stance stiffened and his hands crossed across his chest, his shirt still damp from his swim. "Right. Well you go on ahead and play hero instead of doing your duty. You know, the one where you're supposed to be learning is to rule Solodin" he said, "While we hardworkers of Solodin continue to work day and night to keep the city from falling apart"
Donnie cast a glance towards the two, utter contempt in eyes. Despite knowing thier status as royalty, he believed that anyone who didn't compare to him in intellect was beneath him. "Maybe Hawthrone shouldn't have given up his title" he muttered and picked up his backpack, grunting softly at the heavy weight. "Let's go" he said quietly to Spencer.

" You'll be the first to know once I've sorted it out then" Hawthorne said, chuckling warmly. He wasn't surprised to hear that she was relieved to not have to meet the Royal family. He assumed that she was feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything that had happened. "Don't worry about it, ". Hawthorne smiled back warmly, giving her arm a very gentle squeeze. It was just a small gesture, meant to comfort Arkady a bit. Hawthorne knew it all of this was probably overwhelming her. Heck, it was a bit difficult for the captain to grasp as well.
Hawthorne casually led Arkady to the dinning room. As the two of them walked, the captain let his mind wander a bit. But, his throughts kept returning to his sibling's disappearance and Arkady's company. Hawthorne was enjoying spending time with her. He wanted to make Arkady as comfortable as possible. Glancing over at her, Hawthorne noticed her hand on her leg. His soldiering instincts told him that she was hiding something, most likely a weapon. Hawthorne's chest tightened at the thought. Even thought she didn't seem to want to hurt anyone, Arkady could still pose a threat. Of course, he had always known that, but he still trusted her. Hawthorne barely recognized that they were at the dinning room because he was so lost in his own head.
The dinning room, like most of the rooms in the palace, was beautiful, yet a little extravagant. The table and chairs were all gorgeous. Each was hand carved, and made of a dark mohagany wood. Not one, but three huge chandeliers hung above them. And a spottless, cream colored carpet lined the floor. Somehow, this was the least intimidating room in the manor. In fact, it had a quite cozy atmosphere. A wide array of food lined the table. Each dish was looked delicious, and very expensive. The royal family were able to by the best of everything, including delicacies like chocolate. The smell alone was mouth watering. Hawthorne pulled out Arkady's chair for her. " Ready for dinner?"

As Donatello spoke, Basil looked as if she had been slapped. His bitter words went right to her heart. Maybe he didn't mean it the way it sounded or maybe he's just angry about something She tried to reason, but it still hurt. Basil had spent nearly her entire life stuck in the castle, studying and trying to learn how to be a good leader. She could quote nearly all of the books in the palace's huge library. Basil was very intelligent because of it; she could do calculus and speak latin and knew more about Solodin's history than nearly any Quell. Even though Basil obviously wasn't meant to become Queen, she felt it was her duty. She looked away from Donnie shamefacedly. Though this was the first time she ever dared to venture out of Solodin, Basil was wracked with guilt. " He's... he's right.... we never should have been out here." Basil said quietly," Ollie warned us too ". She bit her lip, trying to keep from sniffling angrily. Basil brushed her bangs away from her face to swipe at her eyes. "Like he said, w-who are we to play hero?" Her soft voice was just barely a whisper. Basil had lost any confidence she had that they might even attempt to help put out the fire. " I think... i think we should just go home... it's... getting late anyway". She said almost inaudibly. Somehow it still felt wrong to just leave like this.

Arkady walked with Hawthorne to the dining room and once again was astounded by it all. It was comforting but still lavish. She nodded when he asked if she was ready for dinner and sat down. "You truly have it all here, don't you?" She couldn't help but think about all of the people in Solodin who died of hunger or cold while the royals lived in amazing rooms and were never hungry. Arkady pushed the thought away though as she looked back at Hawthorne. He had helped her, even though he didn't have to. She wondered whether or not he did this with every person he came across. Arkady would be surprised, but she still didn't know why he chose her out of the others he had encountered. Maybe this is just what he does.

•••[♥ Prince Soren] [Quell; Purple/Blue] [Location: The waterfall, forest] [Tags: Basil, Donatello, Spencer]
Soren furrowed his eyebrows, not having thought about it. He never really cared to figure out how all the technology worked, since he wasn't any good with it- he tilted his head up, mentally trying to figure it out himself. He really couldn't hope to work it out in his mind, though. "Right... have to look into that," he mumbled to himself, looking at Donatello with a moment of lingering curiosity on the subject. He was briefly startled to have an angered gaze turned towards him, enough that he almost immediately forgot about the idea, but a smile was quick to play across his features as a faint laugh escaped him. He didn't normally find amusement in other's negative emotions, but there was an exception for some people. He hummed and shrugged, stretching his arms up. "Mmmmhm... I think I will, yeah." He didn't seem too bothered, letting the words roll off of him relatively easily. He was more amused than anything else. "I've got a lot of free time to kill, 's all. It might do you good to find something to have fun doing too~" He watched for a moment as he grabbed up his backpack, raising up a hand and giving a slight sort of dismissive wave, figuring he'd probably be leaving. "Have fun with your work, though. Good luck and all that."
He huffed out a sigh, seeming to be done with the conversation, himself. He glanced back towards the forest, seeming to already be falling back to thinking about what to do. But as he heard a quiet voice from his sister, he focused on her, staring dumbly for a moment as he processed what she said. "We can-" he paused, stopping himself before he said something stupid. His mood changed, feeling guilty for the fact that he hadn't really thought that she wouldn't have the same train of thought to himself. He turned a bit to better face Basil, quiet for a moment. "Well, I don't think there's much shame in being out here. Besides, there's a lotta days just in a year; taking some off won't harm anyone." He tried to offer a smile, but it was broken soon and he still gave a soft sigh. This was more than just ditching studies, and he had to remind himself of that.
He spoke with a softer tone than he defaulted to once he gathered up his thoughts, more conscious of his words. "'Who are we to play hero'..? Well- what good would we be to our kingdom if we couldn't deal with something like a fire? This is like... you can see it as extreme practise for our skills, or something. If all we have is book smarts, we wouldn't end up being that good at our jobs. Or at least, that's how I see it..." He stared up at the sky, biting his lip. It didn't feel right to go back- he could see more smoke than before now, and knew it wasn't good. He furrowed his eyebrows, not wanting to go, but Basil was more important. He returned his gaze to his sister and raised a hand back to her shoulder, and though her voice only grew quieter, he had enough of an idea of what she'd said. "If... you want to go back, we can. I understand. But that's if you want to, because while what others say is important, your actions are best lead by yourself." He gave another smile, this time not letting it be dispersed by his own thoughts.

Hawthorne smiled wanly, " I guess we do have it a lot better than most Quell." He knew that he was very lucky to have a wonderful house and more than enough food; he was grateful for the things he had. Hawthorne knew very well that their were Quell less fortunate than the royal family. He cared very deeply about the people living in the city. The captain and the other royal siblings often tried to help them any way they could. But, Hawthorne had never invited someone like Arkady to eat dinner with the royal family and even stay at the palace.
Hawthorne sat down at the table, helping himself to a bit of salad. He was quiet, unable to think of anything to say. He was a bit bad with small talk, although he did enjoy talking with Arkady.
