Basil looked up at Soren, looking a little scared. It was clear that she did not want to get caught. To be honest, she seemed more frightened of getting caught by the nobleman than the forest fire. Her shoulders were tense as Soren put his hand on it comfortingly. But, Basil's muscles relaxed just a bit as he spoke. " Thank you Soren. I hope you're right" She said quietly. She smiled a bit, grateful for his confidence and encouragement. Basil was very anxious around most people other than her closest siblings.

At Donatello's voice, Basil jumped slightly. She instinctively shrank back towards Soren, as if Donnie was a threat. It seemed the small princess was more afraid of him than the forest fire. Even though her bangs covered most of her face, it was easy to see that she was intimidated by the nobleman." Nature Quell have an... unusual bond with the Earth. We can feel when it's in danger." Basil said, her soft voice barely a whisper," Legends say that Quell with green hair are closest to the spirits because of our connection to the earth. " She shrank back closer to her brother as Donatello scolded them. She was thankful Soren had enough spunk to stand up to him. Anxiously tugging on her bangs, the princess explained quietly," We.. can't just leave without trying to help.."

"Pretty sure you better be dealing with punishment" Don yawned and rubbed the back of his neck irritably. Boy did he hate heroes. "Fire is a tricky thing you know" he started, moving his hands behind his back as he thought out loud. "This fire is destroying forest life. True, I can sense the danger but fire also brings about new life. After a fire rages, there's left new land for life to grow" Dons gaze turned back to the pair of royalty, "Now are you wanting to help because of your love of the Earth? Or simply because you want to help those savage animals that'd like nothing more than to tear us apart?" He asked calmly, his eyes dark with mischievous intent. Oh how he was practically begging for them to take sides with those Howlers.

Hawthorne couldn't seem to find his siblings. Even the staff had said that most had been out all day or either just didn't want to be bothered. Hawthorne still was a little worried, but he knew his younger siblings could handle themselves. The thought seemed to comfort him a bit, and by the time he returned upstairs, most of his anxiety was gone. Seeing Arkady's door shut, Hawthorne realized that she was most likely going to take a little while to get dressed and everything. He decided to go to his room and get ready for dinner.

Hawthorne took a quick bath and washed his hair. As he came out of his private bathroom, the captain smelled faintly of nice soap and a warm, spicy perfume. It was light enough that the smell wouldn't be overpowering for a Howler's sensitive nose. Hawthorne went over to his closet, trying to find something suitable to wear. He wasn't the best with fashion; most of what he owned was armor or sensible clothes for fighting in. Of course, Hawthorne was relieved to find that he did have a few nice outfits stuffed into the back of his closet. Hawthorne hurriedly chose one and got dressed. He wore a dark grey, collared shirt, a purple sash with Solodin's emblem on the hip, loose black pants and leather boots. It wasn't too terribly fancy, but he did look rather striking. Hawthorne barely glanced at the mirror before hurrying back to wait for Arkady. He didn't want her to feel like he abandoned her, or worse, get lost in the palace. Hawthorne waited patiently outside of her door until she was ready.

Basil anxiously tugged at her bangs as Donatello spoke. He was right of course. They would get into trouble for just being out here, but then something struck her as odd." What about you? You're out here as well. Surely... you would be facing punishment too?" She asked innocently. Basil said," Yes, I know forest fires are an important part of the ecosystem, but.. this one wasn't caused naturally. Can't you feel it? I believe it's poisoning the earth instead of helping it." She said, her soft voice rising a little. " Surely, that affects Solodin? What happens when toxic water runs into our city?"

Basil was a bit offended at his accusations. How dare a nobleman question a royal's loyalty? Basil frowned, trying to choose her words carefully," That..that was out of line. " Basil said, trying to sound self-assured, but she so nervous she stumbled a bit over her words," Don't question our loyalty to Solodin."

Soren hummed softly. He let his sister hide behind him, even opening his wings up a bit to provide a bit more cover. He blatantly wasn't afraid, or didn't display his worry if it was there. He looked a bit irritated, if anything. "Yeah. It's not really like any of us are supposed to be out here for any reason, yet here we are, having this conversation." He leaned his head back, sighing. He looked at Basil as she spoke again, not surprised that she had a better sense of how unnatural the fire was than he did. He clicked his tongue faintly, smiling at her words. He looked out towards the forest, scanning through the trees. He saw no animals anymore, most gone from the area or simply hiding. "There's nothing right about this. We just want to deal with the fire and save as much of the forest as we can, before it gets worse."
He furrowed his eyebrows at Donnie's question, looking back to him. He narrowed his eyes slightly, knowing the answer he wanted, his pride irritated at the implication. Regardless of their reasoning, it was easy to get things twisted up, and that frustrated him even more. "Be careful with what you're implying," he spoke, voice not quite as casual as it usually was. "Of course our goal isn't to save howlers. This place is... it's beautiful. It wouldn't be right to simply let it be destroyed," he tried to explain. It wasn't helpful that just the idea of anything dying by fire gave him a horrible feeling, but he didn't want to mention that, knowing that could easily make the idea that he cared for those that were their enemies. "Even if we don't live up here, it's all on the same planet. Besides, it's not like we came out just to stop it, we were just already out here."

"Of course" Don said, confident as ever, "I'd never imply that the Prince and Princess of Solodin would commit such treasonous crime" he bowed mockingly, "It was simply a question of curiosity" Don then glanced towards the smoke once more, trying to feel the feeling Basil was pointing out but he never really was as powerful with his green side as he was with his grey side. "If the fire is poisoning the earth and it does affect our water system then we already have a contingency plan for that. We couldn't call ourselves inventors if we couldn't simply make a purification system" He then looked back at Spencer and the backpacks settled on the ground and shrugged as if getting caught was the last thing he was afraid of. "I'm out here to obtain materials we need for the benefit of those living in Solodin. It's not like those lavish gemstone attire or weapons that are sold by my family miraculously appeared out of nowhere" he said, growing bored with the conversation after not being able to get his answer. At least until Soren peaked his intrest. He laughed, bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. Why in the world would Soren say such a thing? "Okay so let me get this straight. You guys were out here to what? Explore and sightsee?" He shook his head. "That's even worse than coming up here to simply save the forest"

Oliver | Solodin Square

Oliver did say he was gonna check up on what Hawthrone was doing but he ended up getting himself distracted. As evening settled into Solodin and thier sun shined dimly, there was a big change of scenery in the square. Not a lot of people were out and about since it was just about dinnertime but this was the time when the best deals on fresh food could be made. That's when he stopped into a shop that made sweets. It was a shop definitely for the high-end side of Solodin and it was common for Ollie to come around and purchase sweets for his secret stash of food. Chocolate was quite a delicacy in Solodin and only certain green dominant families grew the cocobean tree on thier own property and it took a lot of work in order to produce a plentiful harvest. He smilies softly to himself after ordering as many sweets as he could with the amount of coin he had leftover. Man, green and yellow Quell are so awesome. Oh. And grey too. He thought, for surely he couldn't forget about Don and all the other grey quells' inventions.
After obtaining the two basket full of various sweets, he made his way towards the Palace. Along the way he offered sweets to those who would pass by him and sometimes an adult would come up to him and ask of news of the prisoner. It seemed he couldn't escape the fact that he would have to confront Hawthrone about the prisoner.

Arkady spinned and watched the loose dress billow around her. Good thing is I can move in this properly. Bad thing is if I do I’ll probably ruin it. She carefully made her way to where she had seen shoes being. Arkady pulled white simple slippers from the back and put them on. They were a bit uncomfortable but it was the best she could find. No way am I wearing heels. Arkady could imagine herself tripping and falling over if she wore heels. She checked the time and knew she better hurry. Arkady began to braid her hair quickly into the French style. Two stray pieces of hair framed her face, but she could care less. Arkady picked up her cloak, the only valuable thing she had and tucked it away neatly in the corner of the room and made a mental note to go get it back. Her heart was racing as she walked to the door and opened it to find Hawthorne already waiting there. ”I hope I’m not late.” Arkady lifted her chin slightly and went over to him.

Once they reached the river, she carefully place Juniper down. She looked to Ash and Juniper in surprise when he said she was alive. Alive? But how? She decided she’d ask questions later. Aurora turned her attention back to Juniper and was glad to find him still alive. Her eyes and lungs burned from the smoke and fire they escaped, but she knew they’d have to move faster if they didn’t want it to catch up with them. ”Amille, we don’t have much time.” She could see the smoke rising above the trees and knee that everyone near the forest would be able to see it.

Soren rolled his eyes at his actions, scoffing softly. "Yeah, careful with curiosity. It can dangerous, for however wonderful it is." He raised up a hand, brushing his hair out of his face. He wrinkled his nose as Donnie spoke again, shifting his weight a bit. He didn't really like listening to him, but he was trying to not be too rude. "Of course the contamination could be handled, but it'd be better to avoid altogether." He turned his gaze away, smoothing out some feathers on his wings. He wrinkled his nose at his answer, unable to deny that it was a good reason. He pulled at some feathers out of nervous habit before stopping himself, shaking his hand. "Right, that would make sense," he muttered, resting his hand on his hip to keep it away from his wing. "Still, being out here... ah, whatever." Arguing was pointless, and he waved a hand dismissively. He was getting impatient, hating to stand about idly talking at such a time. He raised an eyebrow at his words, looking over at him and staring for a moment, fumbling for a moment to figure out how to respond. "Er... Yeah, I guess. So? Exploring is fun." He seemed a bit perplexed, head tilting. "Don't get what's so wrong about that..." He mumbled slightly, awkwardly scratching his cheek. "It gets boring doing the same thing every day. It's not like there's nothing to be earned from adventure, anyways, and there's only so much you can explore in Solodin before you start to run out of places to go..."

Hawthorne waited patiently for Arkady to finish getting dressed. He was still worried about his siblings' absence, but he didn't want to ruin his good mood. The usually grumpy captain seemed to be a lot happier. Hawthorne absentmindedly checked his watch, thinking about Arkady. He still wasn't sure why he helped her, but he had come to the conclusion that it was one of the best decisions he had ever made. Not only had it benefitted her, but it had also changed Hawthorne in a way. It seemed to bring out his softer side and had made him think about hybrids in a different way.

Lost in his own thoughts, the captain was just a bit surprised to see Arkady coming over to him. Hawthorne's heart sped up just a bit as he stood to greet her. His hazel eyes sparkled as he smiled at her softly. " It seems you are the dress type. Somehow, it suits you" He teased Arkady, giving a warm chuckle. " You look absolutely stunning, Arkady." Hawthorne complimented her honestly. He thought that she was beautiful and it wasn't just because of the lovely dress.
