Stormclaw looked at Finchkit, surprised that he asked her such a question. "I was in the nursery, sleeping." Stormclaw answered, recalling last night. She had a bit of trouble sleeping since she believed that Nutmegkit had left the Clan with the murderer, upset that the poor kit's parents just let him leave.

having been awoken by his mother, lakekit stood by the fresh-kill pile, where he'd been told to go, and watched the scene unfold with wide eyes. he hadn't fully understood what had happened with tornadostorm, but now he saw goldenstar's body and listened to the cats talking and shouting and he began to realize just what was happening in the clan. appetite gone, lakekit ran to stormclaw and weaved between her legs, fur spiked. "are we going to be okay?" he asked in a squeaky voice. he heard finchkit's question and peered at him from underneath stormclaw. "she was in our nest, of course! that's a silly question."

"It's okay, Lakekit, you'll be perfectly fine.
We'll figure out who did this and we'll get then exiled." Stormclaw told Lakekit, painfully remembering Nutmegkit leaving with Beetlenose. She silently prayed to StarClan that the Clan would get their next vote right.

Hearing Finchkit's response to Lakekit's statement made Stormclaw angry with herself. Rather than assuming the Clan was right, she should've stayed up, to make sure. Why would someone even do this? Stormclaw thought. She couldn't think of any cat crazy enough to put their Clan in danger like this.

He padded over to his mate and kits. He was upset that they exiled his mates sister. "I knew Beetlenose couldn't do it," he said looking at his mate,"but no cat can be blamed for her exile except the killer. The majority of the clan believed her guilty but we all believed it was the best for the clan." He sat beside lakekit and icekit. He looked at finchkit. "I'd hope all of you would be asleep in the nursery. Finchkit I don't believe any cat would easily say that they were out of their nest," he said softly. He cuffed the kits ear softly.

Finchkit flinched feeling the warrior cuff his ear. The tom stepped back a bit.”Please don’t touch me.” His fur flattened and ears lowered sharing eye contacts with Blastclaws.”Also, it would be better if we were awake, so maybe we could hear the killer.” The tom’s mouth pursed, a bit suspicious of the large cat.

Icekit stood frozen in fear at the body of Goldenstar. ”W-why is Goldenstar dead now?” she mewed, her voice shrill with terror. ”I thought... wasn’t Beetlenose the killer?” With a wail, she fled back to the nursery and sank into her nest.

Finchkit saw Icekit leave and leapt after her, in the nursery he looked for her and finally saw her.”Icekit, we will catch the killer soon, I promise” Finchkit settler down next to Icekit and gave a goofy smile.”I’m gonna become an apprentice soon and I’ll protect you even more!” The tom’s chest puffed out and he smiled. Finchkit lay his tail on her shoulders and let the small kit place her head on his. Worry filled the tom’s heart, if I start to train as an apprentice...what if I don’t see her that much....will we become distant friend’s?

He tilted his head at the younger cat. "Finchkit think of it like this, you're saying every cat needs to be awake. But if our whole clan is awake all the time then if the killer were to attack no cat will have the energy to fight back. " He paused to think. "Actually I'll talk to Lionstrike.... Lionstar about having 2 or 3 cats on a night guard duty so maybe we can find the killer quicker." He watched his daughter run off to her nest. "All I want is for our clan to be free of this murderer so my kits can grow up safe. I would die to protect them and the rest of my clanmates..."

Icekit

Icekit purred, sinking her head into Finchkit’s fur. When Blastclaws spoke she glanced up at the him. She agreed having some guards would be nice, but one question still plagued her mind. What if the guard was the killer? She wondered if she should bring it up. Taking a deep breath, Icekit stuttered, ”B-but... what if the guard we choose is the killer?” She shuddered, still not accustomed to the thought of a traitor in the clan.
