Theme Song: Ghost town by Radical Face
I don't remember much of my parents or family. I knew I had one and that they cared for me, but I also knew they sent me off for some purpose. I remember flying by my siblings, laughing through the clouds as we soared in the air. I remember thinking that I would fly the farthest because I was ambitious and wanted to see how far I could go. Lastly, I remember regretting that decision as soon as I landed.
The quaint village I landed near seemed nice enough, though my aching wings caused me to plummet down into a tree so really I didn't feel the need to complain. I was hungry but mostly sore, so I decided to just take a nap on a thick branch of a grand oak to rest my wings. By the time I awoke the sun was filtering through the trees. In search of food I scrambled my way into the village. I tried to blend in as I strolled down the dirt streets, however I could feel all the eyes peering down at me. Thankfully my youthful nature pushed me onward in search of nourishment, but as a went to every bakery and butcher and market shop I was continually disappointed. At first I thought it was just because I had to money, something I really should have packed, but as I went deeper into town I started to feel claustrophobic under the stares of the vendors. Eventually a brute kalon grabbed me by the scruff and spit out at me, "What does ye think ye is doin' about our streets ey? Beasts like yens belong in the forest." I was utterly shocked and frozen as he tossed me into the dirt and roared out a loud "SCRAM". I quickly rose to my...um wings and took to the skies.
I landed back on my perch, my stomach clawing at me begging for sustenance. I ignored it as it antagonized my every movement and I tried to grip comfortably on the branch and sleep. However, as I perched there and began to wallow in hatred for those in the village, I saw the locket around my neck shimmer. I couldn't remember much about my childhood before that point, but I did know that I was sent out for a purpose. Having flown so far and feeling disgraced, my young mind came to the conclusion that I must have been sent out to experience persecution. Why else would I be named Amnesty except to have to endure the harshness and cruelty of the world and learn to forgive. But that was easier said than done.
Every few days I would sneak into the village while it was dark and try to scavenge some scraps of food. More often then not I would end up scurrying to the woods after being swept away by an angry inn keeper. The town began to call me the Fury in the Forest and would tell kids to stay away from the darkness that lay beyond the village gates. Finally after a few months I saw a poster on a small cottage advertising a reward for "taking care of the beast in the woods". A crude drawing of me was depicted on the front. I had was drawn with large fangs in the shape of lightning bolts and stood towering above a tree. Though it scared me to think they wanted me gone, I couldn't help but chuckle at the poster due to its blatant inaccuracies about my appearance, so I ripped it of the stone wall and flew back into the woods.
The first few groups to try and catch me were extremely pathetic. I did nothing to try and harm them, only hopped from branch to branch as they chased me, but each of them were so clumsy they could barely catch up. Often they would trip and try and blame my "magical abilities" to make a tree limb appear out of no where. However, eventually the hunters became more determined and skilled. I had to start hiding and covering my scent everywhere I went to prevent them from getting a lead on my location. Keeping them away became increasingly difficult and I started to worry if I should return home. However, I had stayed so long I could barely recall the way back. I barely slept and ate due to the stress and knew I needed to escape soon or I would never survive. However, then the wandering knight came to town. I heard the excitement in the village as this "hero" strode in. Apparently they were skilled enough to have tamed a dragon. Due to my exhaustion I knew I couldn't run away from an actually skilled knight, so I decided tonight I would meet my fate.
As the sun set I heard the cheers as the knight began their journey into my domain. I gripped onto my branch and awaited the fate that would befall me. Suddenly a giant fluffy beast tackled me to the ground. It growled as it pinned me to the forest floor. I heard a voice call, "Dundee off!" and the fuzzy dragon jumped off me. I stayed put and looked to see a tall bright Kalon in front of me. They had a pack and a helmet on, but otherwise just appeared like a normal villager. They took their helmet off and peered down at the locket around my tail.
"Are you a child of Solace?"
I didn't know how to respond because hearing the name of my mother threw me off guard, but I nodded nonetheless. The knight introduced herself as Nadya and her dragon companion Dundee. She explained that she didn't plan to kill me buy instead literally take care of me and help me escape this village. She saw the reward poster and recognized the symbol on my tail as similar to my mother Solace's. Nadya then lifted me off the ground and placed me in Dundee's mane. She told me to rest and that she would take care of the rest.
Apparently she strode into the village and told them that the beast had been taken care of and won't bother them any longer. They wanted to throw a celebration for Nadya, however she declined so that we could be on our way. Ever since we have been traveling back towards my home, taking small jobs to hunt actual beasts. Dundee would do the tracking, I would scout ahead, and Nadya would finally finish the job. We became an inseparable team. I started to show interest in the medicinal properties of herbs as days past and Nadya purchased a herbal medicine book for me to study. Suddenly I began spending most days exploring the fields along our path to collect herbs. In the evenings I'd tend to Nadya and Dundee's wounds from earlier fights. After many months we returned to my home. I was nervous to return, but I realized that after traveling so long I began to forgive the villagers. They had no idea what I was and though their actions were cruel, I could forgive them and keep the pain from lingering on. Forgiveness wasn't just for the wrongdoer, but for the victim to feel release.
