okay, I need to calm down...
So, Moolettia and Aldara aren't from Pirenne and I never really defined what her 'hometown' looked like only that it was secluded, but that doesn't count shut up.
So I had this thought, for the first few years that Aldara and Moolettia met Aldara never trusted Moon enough to ride on her for long periods of time, perhaps around a hour at max, so they stayed in the general area of their homes for awhile and this is their first winter away from that area.

But imagine if their home area was hot, like a desert of some sort, and the two never saw snow before. So if it snows in Pirenne it'll be their first time seeing snow.
