Arkady took a sip of the milk. She had never taken a liking to the drink, but figured it would do her some good to get some type of nutrition from it. "What will the others think of a former prince eating with a low-life prisoner?" She tilted her head and began to eat. Her hunger began to sub-side as she ate the meal he had brought. It was better than anything she had ever tasted. Arkady though made sure not to eat to fast, not wanting to make herself sick.

Hawthorne chuckled dryly," I don't know what they'll think. But, believe me, word won't get out. The only people who know about this is you, me and my soldiers. I trust my men not to tell anyone." He took a sip of milk, watching Arkady eat with a faint smile. Hawthorne was glad she had accepted his offer. " So, enough about me... what about you? You must have an interesting story to tell. What made you want to steal my brother's book?" He asked. Hawthorne wasn't interrogating her, just curious.

Soren nodded slightly. "Very strange- I like it, though! It feels like there's not enough time in the world to see it all..." He hummed softly, wondering how true that might be. He stared up at the sky, squinting slightly. It was bright and vast, not seeming to adhere to any sort of crowded space. He wondered how far up one could go. "It's so... not-crowded. I would believe it goes on forever, really." He tilted his head slightly, chewing his bottom lip. As he observed the skies, he thought he saw faint licks of a darker colour tainting it, and while he surely wasn't used to seeing the things of the Aboveworld, it looked... off. Something made him feel something was amiss, and he wasn't sure what to feel about it.
Once Basil spoke, he looked at her, seeming like it made sense to him then. He took in a deep breath, grimacing as the scent was brought to his attention. "It's faint, but I do." He looked around again, recalling the animals and how they seemed to flee. Perhaps it wasn't to avoid the strangers after all. "Something's wrong..." Though, that was admittedly obvious. He grew a bit more tense, furrowing his eyebrows. "What should we do?" He asked, looking back at Basil. "There might..." He paused, apprehensive. "There may be howlers in the area. This isn't far from their home... so if there's a problem, it'd make sense for them to be on top of it."

Arkady debated on whether or not to tell him the truth or some lie. She decided to be honest and could see no harm in telling him. She would just leave out her fellow outcasts, not wanting to get them in trouble as well. ”Telling comes with a price.” Her voice was serious but she was far from being so stern. ”How far back should I start?”

Basil nodded, still looking up at the sky. " I like it too. It's just so hard to imagine something going on forever..." She said. The Aboveworld fascinated her. She wanted to stay around and explore it a lot more, but the smoke worried her a bit. Basil nervously chewed her lip, " I... don't know. " Looking back at Soren, she wasn't sure if they should get involved. If there were Howlers... it wasn't safe for them to be out her. " The Howlers.... they'll probably take care of it... right?" Basil said unsurely. " Then again, how would they stop a forest fire? They don't have Water magic to put out fires like Maroon Quell do." Nervously tugging her bangs, she wondered what they could do.

" You can start as far back as you want. " Hawthorne shrugged, smirking faintly, " I've got all the time in the world. ". He finished off the rest of his milk and looked back at Arkady. The girl was a puzzle to him, Hawthorne wasn't sure why he bothered with her. Arkady was a thief and a mix, while he was a high ranking Royal. Maybe it was because he wanted to know more about her. Why was she stealing something like a book? Why didn't she put up much of a fight when he arrested her? Why was she even speaking to him after he had arrested her?

Arkady breathed in deeply and closed her eyes. Don’t be vulnerable. She opened her eyes and looked at Hawthorne. ”Mother was a Howler, father a Quell. She died and I was abandoned and forgotten about, left to take care of myself.” Her voice was steady, no sign of being upset. Though inside she felt awful, but of course she wouldn’t show him that. Not just yet. ”And don’t say you’re sorry. You didn’t do anything wrong and I can’t stand it when people give me pity.”

Leonardo
Ignoring the dryness in his throat and the burn in his lungs, Leo cautiously darted around the fire and towards the opening. Backing away from the edge, he pushed himself to run as fast as he could and jumped through the opening. Flames licked at his sides as he did so and even more threatened to burn him as he landed on hot crispy burning forest. He barely was able to spot Juniper and Ash among the bright flames and cloudy smoke. He squinted and breathed in quick, shallow, breaths as he dashed towards them, his claws digging into the ground. "Juniper! Ash!" He coughed, "This way! Quick before our opening closed" He hissed as he felt the bite of the flames at his legs as the ground around them was quickly being engulfed in flame.

Aurora said a quick prayer before leaping into the fiery pit. Unbearable heat and toxic smoke engulfed her as she landed on the ground. Luckily, she had landed near Juniper and Ash. She saw Leonardo barreling through the opening that was their way out. Aurora shifted into her human form, and rushed over to Juniper and Ash. "Leo, get Ash and let's get out of here!" She went to loop her arm around Juniper and help him up. It was more difficult said then done, because he was holding onto Ash, who didn't seem to be breathing. Oh please let her be alive.

Ash felt as if she were disconnected from her body and was floating in space. She was… dead. Dead, that's what I am. Ash could hear a distant voice begging for her to be alive, and whatever was left of her ached in pain. She didn't want to return to that fiery place that was full of smoke and despair. A light shined above her and was getting closer.

Ash's body was cold, despite the heat surrounding her and Juniper. She was limp and unmoving, even the blood in her veins had stilled. Juniper had his arms wrapped around her, as if trying to protect her from whatever was coming their way. Ash looked serene, as if not a blazing fire was surrounding her. The only sign that she had ever once been alive was her rosy cheeks and even then the color was slowly fading from them.

Amille waited impatiently. She paced and paced, back and forth and in circles. It was taking Aurora a long time. Amille had to tell herself to relax. Aurora obviously couldn't be fast in there; she had to deal with debris, fire, and rescuing others. That calmed her a little bit, but she was still nervous. The fire kept moving closer to her, and she had to back up. She had probably moved about twenty feet from where she originally was. Her mind was racing, thinking of all the possible outcomes of this situation. Amille never realized how scary a forest fire sounded. There was crackling, snapping, the sound of things falling, and Amille swore she could hear screaming. But the next moment, it was gone. She swallowed, hoping she just imagined it.
