Not surprising because it sounds like you had a comp team? I even had some difficulty. I only used a casual team that didn't have perfect stats and was either right at it's level or lower (can't remember). I had to use revives and stuff to overpower it.
I had more trouble with the boss battle in the post story though... I only won because of affection hax from feeding my Pokémon rainbow beans.

i think a nuzlocke could be fun- but there's a certain battle ( ultra necrozma)that is an absolute pain- it's a swift game over for nearly all nuzlockes, so you may wanna cut yourself slack for that fight.

On the topic of this spoiler
||is there only one Ultra Necrozma fight? The one where you battle it and it separates from Lunala/Solgaleo, and then you later catch it on Mt. Lanika? Because I honestly didn’t have much trouble in that fight, he knocked out the Alolan Muk I led with and I u-turned a couple times with Talonflame, but my Metagross basically led the fight with meteor mash and I had him beat in about five minutes. Or is there another battle I need to be concerned with?||
On another note, I’m heavily considering getting Ultra Moon in addition to the Ultra Sun I already have to reset freely. I absolutely love the story and it’s monumentally better than Sun and Moon, and although my brother has Ultra Moon, I doubt he’ll give up his version exclusive legendaries or totems.

No that's the fight everyone is referring to. But lol everyone who is saying it wasn't hard. It wouldn't be if you have a Pokémon or strategy that can resist it's attacks or counter it. It's not like it can change type or move set depending on who it goes up against.... though I kind of wish it did! I thought it was really cool how the first gym in black/white changed depending on the starter you chose.
It wasn't "hard" but it was a much tougher fight than I'm use to in Pokémon games. Basically what I imagine a "hard" mode would be if Pokémon added difficulty levels.

In BW2, they had a Key System. There was a different key for each version, and there were three types of keys. There was a key for difficulty settings, a key for whether you have White Forest or Black City, and a Key for which Legendary Golem you run into.

Buuuut you only got it after you beat the game so it was only useful if you had a 2nd game or a local friend who had a BW2.
You basically gave them the key to unlock it to playthrough with. And both mode keys weren't even in both games; I think black 2 unlocked hard mode key while white 2 unlocked easy mode key.
