Looking toward Dawn as she came to join him once again, a faint smile crossed his lips and Pikachu jumped down from his shoulder to take a seat in the girl's lap. It was obvious that the electric type saw her a a kind soul and trusted her enough to be close to her. "Thank you for joining everyone. I know Gold is a bit over the top, but he's a good kid," the former champion told her as his eyes moved to the other male momentarily. It had been some time since he had last seen Gold but he kept up to date on all things Johto and Kanto. Blue helped with such and so did Leaf, though she was far more under the radar than Blue was. Looking back at Dawn, Red let a soft sigh escape his lips. "I imagine he's had many pressures on him for his entire teenhood. He was only the third champion to claim the title at the age of ten. First Blue then me and then him. The difference is he never walked away like I did. You can only imagine what that must be like being a champion at such a young age and having to put an entire region on his back." He remembered his two years as champion. The pressures of watching over Kanto as a mere child had been a lot of work. Back then it he had been watching over Johto to some extent, though Lance had taken some of that work off him. He still felt guilty that he had never warned the other that he planned on stepping down. He just one day had disappeared, leaving Lance with full control over the leagues.

It would only be months later that Gold would arrive and become unofficial champion. He still remembered the ten year old Gold coming to face him at Mt Silver. He could tell the champion still had the same fiery soul, but he had matured greatly. Looking at him now, he could tell years of stress had gotten to him yet he continued on. "But trust me, I think he'll appreciate you accepting to ride with us. I know I do." He didn't see why some of the other trainers were feeling the need to be so independent and such about the whole thing. They didn't need to all offer up their Pokemon to carry people when it was clear that Ho-oh was large enough. If they wanted to go alone on their own Pokemon that was one thing, but he didn't see why a second legendary had to be offered. He could understand Gold's irritation. Shaking his head at the thought, he let another sigh escape his lips.

Maybe Kris had been right about coming to this whole thing. She had told him he didn't need the stress of it yet he had told her he would be just fine and wouldn't let it get to him. He should have listened to her and sent Lance in his place instead. He could only imagine how such would look to the others. Shaking his head, he reached down and stroked the top of the Ho-oh's head. "Ho-oh, was a right to say such? I was only saying that one legendary is enough? Is that really too hard for others to understand?" he asked softly with a frown upon his lips. The legendary bird could tell its trainer was distressed. It was a feeling it often sensed from him even though he buried it more times than not. Gold, do not let the likes of two young trainers bother you. The other's legendary spoke to me, saying its trainer did not like that you rejected his help, but you were not in the wrong. It is the champions duty to take care of the trainers here and he should have respected that given he is only a mere trainer. So please do not beat yourself up over such, Ho-oh told its trainer telepathically with a soft caw to accompany it. It had taken years for the two to create such a bond that allowed Ho-oh to communicate in such a manner, but Gold was more than appreciative of it. The legendary was wise. That was to be expected for the one who was said to grant eternal happiness. Letting a small smile cross his lips, he stroked the bird's head once again. It always seemed to understand how to put him at ease in his times of need. He was still grateful that it had seen him as a hero all those years ago and appeared before him to become his companion.

Satisfied with his legendary's response, the champion pushed himself to his feet and balanced himself on the bird's head. "We will take off in a few moments once we are sure all of us are boarded. I appreciate you all for wanting to go together as a team."

Hearing Kif the Hoenn champion smiled toward him. "I think it would be safest if we all traveled together," she told him. She recognized him as one of the newer champions. She had only met him just before the whole trip had been arranged when all the champions had gotten together to talk things over, though it had seemed like the ones who ran the leagues had done most of the talking and bored all the champions to death. Being one of the older champions, Caitlyn knew she had to make sure the younger ones had some kind of guidance. That was something she couldn't rely on Gold to offer even if he had been the longest serving of them all. He was still a spitfire even after eight long years. Besides she knew what it was like to become champion at the age Kif appeared around. She too had become champion around the same age and it had been conflicting at times. "You're more than welcome to sit with me up here if you'd like. I'm sure Riley would love to have another trainer to bug." A soft chuckle escaped her lips as the Pikachu on her shoulder let out a happy chu and swayed his tail back and forth behind him.

Watching as Lottie approached and climbed on, she gave a small nod in her direction of appreciation. "Thank you for joining us, Lottie, right?" She was still a bit shaky on the newer champion's names but she had tried to make sure she had them all straight before the trip so she wouldn't get them confused. It would be rather embarrassing if an older champion like herself couldn't set some kind of example for not only the other champions, but for the trainers as well.

"Oh, ah thank you!" He replied, glad at least someone was paying any attention to him. "And also, sure!" He added, referring to Caitlyn's offer. He turned to Suicune, who was looking at him curiously. "Alright Suicune, return for now." He pulled out Suicune's pokeball and returned them. Even though Kif was a champion himself, he was still thrilled to be around other champions, whom he'd looked up to for so long. He wished his sister, Akari, could be here too, because he knew she'd be just as excited.

Seeing that no more trainers were approaching the legendary, the champion decided that she could sit down finally and wait for take off. Sitting down near Kif, she let a soft sigh escape her lips before Riley jumped down into her lap and curled up with his head resting against her leg. For once the Pikachu seemed to be at ease. Normally he was on high alert and that worried Caitlyn. It was nice to see the electric type at such peace at the current moment. Stroking her companion gently, she moved her eyes to the boy that sat beside her and offered a faint smile. "I apologize for all the commotion. I don't think Gold expected some of the trainers to be rather independent. I promise the entire trip won't be like this," she said. Of course she couldn't be certain if such a promise could be true, but she hoped it would be. Someone would have to keep Gold's ego in check to make sure he didn't go toe-to-toe with someone again. She figured it wouldn't be too big of a problem since the plan was to split up into groups to search the island. At least then groups would be more manageable.

erika stared at zeus as he nudged her hand again, beginning to start to speak with her. erika, you do know what risk you are taking by trying to speak to these people, right? i don't want you to break down crying in front of everybody about your brother.. the latios spoke worriedly, trailing off at the end of his sentence. he had read her mind—she did want to speak to these trainers, but had a feeling she would still break down in front of everybody. "zeus, i'll be fine. you know you don't need to be a worrywart." a soft sigh escaped her lips after she responded to her latios, her silver eyes shifting over to where some of the other trainers were standing. secretly, the young woman had wanted to be like them. having friends to talk to, and not being alone. she envied them—they could speak to others so easily. so easily it wasn't fair. erika paused for a moment as she looked at the johto champion, hearing him ask if anybody wanted a ride on his ho-oh. she thought about it for a second, before standing up and speaking in a quiet voice. "excuse me.. may i ride, too?" erika was quite proud of herself for being able to actually ask them the question, for she was quiet most of the time and hadn't had many skills with other people.

amaryllis pumped a fist into the air as she saw azure write down her request, looking straight into her light blue eyes. it wasn't often that she was this happy to have a cloned pokemon, considering she was somewhat against what they were doing. as she watched azure smile, she couldn't help but think of lilith and the way she used to smile at others. it wasn't often that she noticed her own mother smile, so it kind of made the girl happy. she quickly bounded past azure, beaming at her, before running near the entrance of the base. amaryllis's gardevoir looked at her like she was unsure that they should go outside. "we can go outside as long as we don't venture too far away from the base, amethyst." she responded with a nod of her head, walking out of the door and running around the base. usually at the back of it, flowers grew. they were pink, white, and red, all of her favorite colors. usually amaryllis would make flower crowns with her pokemon and wear hem until they feel apart or something. throwing out all of her pokemon's pokeballs at the same time, amaryllis shouted happily, "c'mon guys! let's make some crowns!"

"I suppose," he answered plainly. He hadn't really been against others riding their own Pokemon though it was nice to travel as a group together. It was offering a ride when one had already been offered to everyone. That was where he had a problem. It wasn't worth worrying over now though. Things had calmed down anyways and Gold seemed to be perky once again. He wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing. Shrugging it off, he looked around at the others. It really wasn't his say what happened anyways. On this trip he was nothing more than a trainer. Of course he knew nobody would buy that given who he was. He had no plans of trying to even take a leadership role in this whole thing. He simply was there to provide any assistance that might be needed. In a way he saw his role as more of a bodyguard than anything else. Looking toward Michael as Dawn spoke to him, Red said nothing. His gaze may have seemed cold though he wasn't trying to come across as such. He wasn't even sure if the other was a champion or not. Not that it mattered. Watching Pikachu jumped back over to him, the trainer gave the mouse a gentle pat on the head. "Also, no need to apologize for rambling. I'm used to Blue doing the same thing to me."

He was about to tell Ho-oh it was time to go when he heard a soft voice directed to him. His eyes shifted from his place on the head of the legendary and noticed Erika had come to join them. Lowering himself down close to Ho-oh he gave the bird a pat on the head and it immediately responded by lowering its head closer to the railing to allow the champion to address the girl. Returning to his full height, he looked down at the girl for a moment. He hadn't noticed before but she oddly reminded him of Silver in terms of appearance. That was one thing he really didn't wish to be reminded of, but he knew he shouldn't be comparing her to the likes of his former rival. Pushing it off, he offered a smile to her before giving a soft hum. "Of course. That is what Ho-oh is here for," he replied. It was a surprise he had held back any flirty comments he might have at the moment and was for once being kind. Climbing down onto the railing of the boat, he found his balance on it before he jumped down beside Erika. "Here let me help you up onto it." It wasn't the obvious kind of flirting he normally went with, but it still had its hints of being such. Without permission, the champion scoped the girl up in his arms with a playful smirk on his lips. Ho-oh lowered its head even further to allow him to step back up before it lifted it back up into the air. Setting Erika down, Gold took a seat on the legendary's head as well before giving it a soft pat. "Ho-oh we are ready to leave now," he told the bird.

It's about time. And you mister need to learn to be less of a flirt one of these days. Trying to swoon every pretty girl you meet isn't going to get you anywhere, Ho-oh jested at its trainer before spreading its wings out. The remark from the bird caused the teen to chuckle before he shook his head. Feeling the bird take off from its perch, Gold glanced at Erika to make sure she wasn't struggling to hold on. Compared to Ho-oh's back the head wasn't as easy to hold onto. He rarely rode on it himself but he felt staying upon it made it easier to see what was ahead. Glancing toward the island ahead, he couldn't help but notice how lush the land appeared. It had a vast variety of different terrains but plenty of green around. "Wow, Acrea sure it pretty from up here."

She was about to respond when she felt the bird take off. She hadn't been expecting it, but Gold must have given the command to leave. Looking up in the boy's direction for a moment, she noticed that he was no longer alone on Ho-oh's head but now a girl had joined him. It was no surprise to her. Shaking her head, her gaze returned to Kif. "We're splitting into smaller groups. Four groups to be exact with six members each. I'm not sure how we'll decide who will go with who but that is the plan as of right now," she informed him. She knew they would probably have two champions per group but how the trainers would be divided up among the groups she wasn't so sure. They could always go by region, but then again it might be fun to mix it up and send various trainers in a group with one another. "Groups will allow us to cover more ground and not draw too much attention to us if something is around."

Kif regained his balance as the bird unexpectedly took off. He then turned to Caitlyn as she answered his question. He nodded slowly as she spoke, to let her know he was listening and had understood. “Makes sense. How did someone find this island anyways? And why is it so important we search it?” He felt slightly guilty for bothering Caitlyn with so many questions, but he supposed it was important information anyways. He probably should’ve done proper research before leaving, but it was too late now.

"thank you-" was all of the words erika managed to speak before she was scooped up by the champion. she hadn't really expected to be picked up by her idol, let alone put on a ho-oh with him, but erika was grateful nonetheless. she gave a small nod of gratitude to gold, looking down at the island and sighing. when she stared back at zeus, who was following them from behind, she almost fell off. "holy rockets!" she shouted, regaining her balance and looking at gold again. had she seriously just almost fell off? "ah, i'm okay. i think." erika didn't want everybody to think that she was going to fall over again, and not come back this time. maybe you shouldn't fall to your death, miss nakamura.. she thought to herself, looking back down at the island again, erika let out a small chuckle when she heard gold say how pretty the place was. "it is. i like it." erika responded, smiling at the champion in front of her. it was very green, and erika had never seen many places like these in kanto or johto. well, there were the forests, but they weren't as exciting as this forest. that was definitely true. she decided not to look back at what zeus was doing, though something inside of her told her to go ahead and try. erika knew she was better than that.. she refused to give in to her urges. she absolutely refused. erika yawned, as she was sleepy from the entire boat trip, and looked ahead at gold again.
