I'm kind of a newbie myself, but I suggest adding "l33t speak" to the list as well, perhaps alongside chat speak. I can't actually speak l33t so erm.. you'd have to find a better example, but ^_^; it can be annoying.

I was going to add chatspeak, I don't even know what l33t is.

I have yet to see someone on here use 1337 much less type it considering it was developed and used by FPS players.

1337 was my old house address number!

Just so it's clear, 1337 stands for "leet" or "lit", as in "literate."

Also, you might want to have something about the 18th day of December, and how all pets adopted on that day have the SAME DARN VALUE as the pet in which month they were originally released (so a Jewelry sundog from December 18th is still a really, really rare pet and isn't worth a common advent). So people really should stop offering lousy offers for 18th day July pets and then trying to tell older members that no, THEY know the rules and THIS IS A DECEMBER.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to lock myself in the pantry and drown my sorrows in bottled water and granola bars.

You should add a section about warrior cats and butterfly wolves-- How almost all of them aren't 'worth' anything in trades.

You might also want to post the 'Hollypaw' and unreleased cats next to one another so new members can see the difference and don't think that their common cat is worth a lot more than it is... I have pictures of the two in my trade thread, so you can use those if you'd like.

Thank you very much for doing this. It's a good writeup about what new members need to know.

Hopefully lots and lots of people will read it and take it to heart. I was quite sad after I had to change the trade settings on nearly all my pet groups. But I keep getting trade offers for pets that were in my 'dogs/wolves' category. Doesn't this sound like a normal 'I'm going to keep these pets' category to you? It did to me. But other people didn't think so I guess.

Thank you very much, now I have a url I can toss newbies when I have to cancel the trade, when they just do what you described in the first post. ^^
