Just as she was about to pounce on a sparrow, a yowl startled her and she misjudged the jump. The bird let out an alarm call and flew away. "Fox-dung!" She hissed, turning around to go find where the yowl had come from. Soon enough she came across Dovepaw and sighed. "What's the matter?" She asked, then remembered that the apprentice didn't have a mentor. She felt sorry for the little she-cat and hoped Pinestar hadn't forgotten.

Dovepaw jumped, not expecting someone to come to her "rescue" so soon. She hesitated a bit, noticing that Birchtail seemed a little irritated at first. She hoped she didnt interrupt a hunt or anything, and rushed the next thing she said nervously. " IwasjustboredandIgotlostandnowIdontknowwhereIam " she blubbered helplessly, nearly out of breath by the time she was done speaking. Her ears pinned back and she looked down. She was embarrassed and ashamed. She wasnt a kit anymore, she couldnt be getting lost. But she wanted to train. She wanted to hunt and to explore. But she couldnt do it alone. It was against the rules. She had to have a mentor with her. " Im sorry " she added. " I hope I didnt interrupt anything important " she said quietly.

(She said " I was just bored but I got lost and now I dont know where I am. ")

Birchtail let out a purr of amusement, touching her nose to Dovepaw's ear. "You're fine." She reassured her, glancing up at the sky. "Let's get you back home. And if anyone asks, say I took you out for a while." Birchtail mewed, before taking the lead back to camp. "Maybe Pinestar will assign a mentor to you soon, so you won't be so full of energy." She teased, trying to lift the she-cat's spirits.

Pinestar grumbled, it was time to assign a mentor to Dovepaw, where was she, anyways. Pinestar padded out of his den to see Dovepaw and Birchfall. He sighed and jumped onto the large tree stump ''Cats of PineClan, it is time to assign a mentor to apprentice Dovepaw.'' he spoke calmly ''Dovepaw, step forwards.'' he mewed adding ''And..'' he stopped to glance around the camp, he spotted Birchfall, Birchfall seemed to be close to the apprentice so he continued. ''Birchfall, please step up, if you are willing to be mentor to Dovepaw.''

Birchtail gasped but bowed her head and stepped forward. She glanced at Dovepaw kindly, hoping the apprentice didn't mind. She focuses back on Pinestar, nerves and excitement swirling through her belly. This was her first ever apprentice and she didn't believe that it was her that was going to mentor Dovepaw.

Dovepaw let out a sigh of relief when she noticed Birchtail wasnt mad at her. " Thank you miss! " she mewed happily. She trotted alongside Birchtail as they returned to camp, still laughing slightly after the warrior's last comment. However, she was shocked to find she was being called forward by Pinestar. She would finally be getting a mentor. She bounced up and down excitedly, stepping forward alongside her chosen mentor, Birchtail. Her tail waved back and forth with excitement as she stood before the clan, now becoming a true apprentice. She smiled brightly.

Fawnpaw couldn't believe her ears at her mentor's praise. She felt her lips curl into a huge grin, "T-thank you..." she murmured. Fawnpaw wasn't the best at taking compliments, let alone from someone she respected as much as she did with Willowtail. She hadn't expected herself to even properly complete the move, so the fact that her mentor seemed to be pleased was shocking to her.
