[ThatPinkThing]

Check moved easily, despite being caught a little off guard by Ruby's plain apartment. He looked around curiously, peering out of windows and perching on the couch. "Cozy," he noted aloud.

[Dethuma]

"Yeah, it works." he agreed with a shrug. He then looked to the kitchen and moved over to close and put away all the pill bottles that were sitting out in the open. "I don't really have much" he laughed "But I buy a board game the other day," he informed without purpose.

[ThatPinkThing]

“Ooh, what game?” Check’s shoulders went back as his head popped up, looking like a dog whose ears perked up.

[Dethuma]

"Uh.. Monopoly." he answered after thinking for a while. "I heard it's supposed to help future thinking or something." he added with a smile. "I'm not very good at that, at least that's what Maria used to say..." he trailed off, voice becoming quiet when he spoke of his sister.

[ThatPinkThing]

Check was quiet. “... how is she?” He asked nervously, remembering feeling small and stupid in Maria’s presence.

[Dethuma]

"Dead," Ruby responded quite bluntly. He didn't really have much else to say on the matter. What else was there to say? "She uh.. she died a little bit after we were er.. discharged." he decided to explain after several long and quiet seconds..

[ThatPinkThing]

"Oh," Check said, feeling bad for bringing it up. "If... if you need someone to fall back on as a stand-in family member, I'm always here." He said, looking gently at Ruby. He wanted to smile, show he cared, but he just... ached for Ruby. He must feel so lonely.

[Dethuma]

Ruby went quiet suddenly. "Right.. family.." he mumbled, not feeling comfortable and confident in thinking about Check that way due to their past relationship and his current feelings towards the man. "But its fine now.. it has been a while, I'm used to being alone and she wasn't really there for me a lot anyway."

[ThatPinkThing]

Check nodded sadly, looking down as he remembered the events that unfolded years ago. He remembered the loneliness that had plagued him then when Felix and Katie abandoned him, partly by his own fault. He sniffed, rubbing at one eye with his wrist to wipe away a tear before it could fully form. "Do you want more? The pack are loyal guys, the families of all members are protected and... I mean, there's a lot of us, I'm sure you could find at least one or two close friends." He offered. "I hate... I hate remembering the loneliness, and I don't want you... to feel that way." Check's voice grew quiet as he remembered the dark thoughts he'd had to kick out of his head by himself. He drew his knees up to his chest as he shook his head. "Want you to be safe."

[Dethuma]

Ruby frowned when he saw Check break down in such a way, it hurt him in a way he couldn't describe. He instantly went to be closer to him. He was unsure if his touch would help but he put a hand on Check anyways. "I'll be safe, just don't get upset over me." his voice broke when he said such a thing "You don't deserve to be upset." he hummed in an attempt to comfort him.
