Bayclaw paused, frowning "Well.. My Mother told me.. Back then there were two clans." she said softly. "DawnClan, which was us. And another whose name was lost to history.. At the time.. The Clans didn't get along all that well.. But DawnClan cats.. well some of them at least.. Were taking mates from that other clan and from loners.. It infuriated Duskstar who wanted to dominate the forest. He wanted a clan full of clean warrior bloodlines.. A clan who could crush any enemy without hesitation.. So he enforced that cruel rule. Giving anyone who didn't already have a mate in DuskClan an assigned mate. And from then on out assigning any new warriors their mates. No one got a choice... After he died.. They continued.. DawnClan became DuskClan and.. For a while we had many cruel leaders.. Its because of us that, that other clan is gone.. That the forest is unbalanced.. There were suppose to be two clans.. And now we.. their descendants.. Suffer because of Duskstar and his crazed ideas of loyalty and strength." she said.

Brighteyes nodded "I'm sure the leaders have known about rule breakers.. They've been exiled in the past.. I'm not sure what they're so scared of.. Whats so scary about getting rid of an outdated rule that is bathed in a history of cruelty." she said.

Stormyskies frowned, glancing at Waterflight before he shook himself. Clearly uncomfortable with the thought of their clans ancestors being responsible for so many bad things happening to the forest and to another clan.

Embergaze glanced at the queen before she nudged her "Head north. Keep going until you're out of the flood waters and then just keep going after that." she said. "The rest of the clan should be heading that way i'm sure you'll find more of them already there. It's higher ground there, away from the river. You'll be safer there but you must go immediately." she said quickly.

Frostpetal managed a weak grin "You don't have to tell me twice, i'd hate to get left here." she said as hurriedly followed the other she-cat. Sticking close to her she tried to think of something to say that would comfort them both but was at a loss. Her thoughts kept traveling back to the fire and now to this.. She wasn't sure how much more anyone could take.. How much more she could take.

Darkgaze paused, turning his head to look back at Nightspook "Are you alright?" he asked turning to walk back over to her. He still seemed to be perfectly calm regardless of the situation they were in. "Let's keep heading north." he said before he turned back around, waiting for her before he continued. Inside, Darkgaze was pretty worried, but he'd never let that show. He was the type of cat that hid his own feelings and fears in favor of being there for everyone else.

Swiftleap fell silent, staying close to Briareyes as he watched their kits. He silently wished he could comfort her, his mind more on thinking up ways to do that than trying to pay attention to what the kits were saying.

Treekit flinched slightly when he saw the lightning strike before he looked over at the other two kits. "What if StarClan is mad?" he said softly. "Maybe.. Maybe someone did something? There has to be a reason they won't help us..." he said pinning his ears. He shifted nervously "They still like us don't they?" he asked pitifully.

Acornkit frowned "I think Volekit is right, I think they're just being dumb.. Or maybe they don't know? Maybe they can't see how high the water is from up there? We all must look so small.." she said glancing up at the sky trying to make sense of everything.

Riverbriar pricked her ears when she spotted Brackenfall not far from where she was and let out a sigh of relief. She and Brackenfall weren't really close but.. Seeing anyone felt a surge of relief. She had no idea where her younger siblings were and her forbidden mate had perished in the flood.. She hadn't been able to save him and she felt like a complete failure. She dragged her paws as she moved closer to Brackenfall.

Bearshadow nodded in agreement "Further away from the worst of the flooding." he said before he paused. He stood still his ears pricked "Look towards your left Creamflower." he said. "I think I see a group of cats leaving.. Do you think that could be them? Or do you think those are loners?" he asked hesitating as he tried to see the cats. He knew some would be ex clan mates of theirs.. But he couldn't see who exactly was all there through the rain.

Paleflame lifted his head looking around "We're getting out of the water." he said nudging Swallowfeather slightly and offering her a small smile. "I don't see anyone else from the clan yet but we can find a dry place.. or as close to dry as we can find and we can wait it out." he said.

Willowsong purred lightly her heart racing slightly when Treetail came close. She pricked her ears lifting her head up "We can finally sit down?" she said relief evident in her voice.

Wolfstar flicked his tail slowly his gaze moving over the camp one last time before he nodded "We can go to higher grounds." he said before he stood up. Hopping up on the rock he used to call for meetings "Cats of DawnClan!" he shouted across the camp. "We will be leaving our camp for the time being and moving to the higher ground in our territory. Just as a precaution." he said. "I need all the apprentices to find a warrior to escort them. I need at least one warrior to go with every queen to protect them as well." he said. "No one gets left behind." he said.

Nightdust stood up, looking up at his brother before he looked out at the camp looking around for Marblepaw to make sure she at least had a warrior with her if she didn't want him to go with her.

Shaking his head he looked at his mate "Hopefully our kits have a little more sense when it comes to disasters than my brother does." he said.

Creamflower sees the cats Bearshadow is looking at, straining her eyes for her to see through the rain. She cant make out who they are so she shrugs at Bearshadow. "Lets go over to them and see who they are." she said. "Maybe they are DawnClan?"

Shadowsneak gasped in the cool air as he scaled the hill. Rain streamed off of his ebony pelt, and he swore that not a twig or leaf or bug on this territory was dry as he heaved and coughed up water. Eyes darting to take in his surroundings, he let out a purr to spot his clanmate, Spottedpaw, with two other cats merely fox-lengths away. Running up to them, he skidded to a halt, doing his best not to spray them with mud and water. "Spottedpaw! Oh, thank goodness you're alright - oh...what's wrong?" He crouched next to her, seeing how distressed she was, and curled his tail over her back.

Usually that was hard for such a big cat but the sound of the storm seemed to mask most of the noise he made which he was grateful for. “Hey.. up ahead.. That’s Mistyfalls over there! She use to be our clan mate so this must be DawnClan!” He said

Mottlecloud shut his mouth immediately when the DuskClan warrior showed up. He and Flurrybreeze had only recently left DuskClan to join the other clan and he wasn’t too sure what anyone would say or even think about them. And he didn’t want to set anyone off by saying anything in front of them that might not work out too well with the way DuskClan did things.. After all.. He and Flurrybreeze were not assigned mates when they left.. They had been forbidden.

Creamflower looks closer and realizes that it is Mistyfalls. She remembers the she-cat from DuskClan before she disappeared without a trace. Looking at Bearshadow, she smiles as hope fills her heart. "That has to be a sign of hope!" she said. "Lets go!"

Deer turned around after a short moment of grieving before padding back to camp, a shine of determination to protect her last three newborns in her eye. Like WolfStar said, she needed someone to escort her out so she patiently waited for someone.

Fallenrock turned to the she-cat beside her, "I'll go help Deerhorn, she has her kits with her if you wanna come help..." her social awkwardness made her voice crack and her eyes widened in embarrassment. "Oh my..." she whimpered to herself and scooted out of the den flustered with her tail between her legs like a dog who had been scolded. She regained as much normalcy as she could and sprinted towards Deerhorn.
"Need an escort?" She greeted, trying to put on a happy face despite the flooding, deaths, and her screaming anxiety. "Let's get the young ones to safety..."
