Rant- How all my characters get depressed, ignored and used. I know that's life, but it's abnormal how much this happens. Almost every post I make, someone makes them feel worse. I'm afraid that one day I'll just get frustrated and kill them. ;-;

I would just make a character who does the using rather than being the victem

I have this old character, whom I absolutely love.
So I tried to make him into an rp character, failing hardcore.
But the thing is, in the right rp {perhaps without some idiot controlling him-(myself)} he would be an awesome character.
Poor guy.

Can't remember if I've said anything about this before, but...
I'm really sick of people just slapping a mental disorder of some kind (or make them gay, for that matter) on a character, then making the character revolve entirely around said disorder.
There's so many weird things that make people unique. Stupid little things that you don't really think of, but when you put them together you get interesting, fun, and believable characters. A person with OCD isn't just going to spent their entire day organizing and reorganizing things, they're going to have thoughts and talk to people, just like a "normal" person would. You don't just make a character the textbook definition of a disease and then just completely leave it at that. It's not unique, just lazy.
And if you're going to make a character with a disorder, at least do your research. Schizophrenia doesn't mean, "She hears voices, yay!" and a psychopath doesn't just kill everything in it's path, non-stop. (And for the record, not all of them are serial killers either, it's a lack of feeling empathy, not something that turns people into mindless killing machines =P)

If you want a unique character, put some effort into it instead of just looking up a disease.

As an example, I have this one character who, in a nutshell, thinks she's all that, going in and trying to steal from the lions (She's a lone hyena). However, if you try to splash her with water, or show her a crocodile, she will scream and run for cover. Although, I don't think that's really unique.

Rant: That I love the above character to death, and I can't find the perfect rp to put her in, except for this one lion rp that's slowly dying right before my eyes. ;_;
