Number of Cats: 0 toms | 0 she-cats

xxxxZenithclan cats happily talk with loners and kittypets around borders, and their populations mean that they have knowledge of miles around. They are more reluctant to talk to other clan cats, but having news about where bears, wolves and jackals are is more important than rivalry.
xxxxZenithclan is honour based; cats would die in battle if it earned them honour (and therefore being remembered). They believe that all cats - except leaders - can be reincarnated up to 8 times, and thus, each cat gets 9 lives, even if it's over a myriad moons. Cats believed to be reincarnated either step down from being leader after losing the appropriate lives, and thus keep 9 lives (it being deemed selfish and dishonourable to have more), or are banned from becoming leader. In practice, neither of these happen often. It's claimed that a reincarnated cat won't get as many lives from Starclan if they become leader without someone realising, and as leaders traditionally keep the numbers of their lives secret, they have no way to disprove this. They believe that a cat can reincarnate as something else if they did particularly well or poorly in life. Predatory birds are considered "better", as they are higher, and closer to Starclan (and not foolish enough to be eaten by a cat, unlike non-predatory birds).
xxxxThe most distinctive feature of Zenithclan is how they raise offspring. Coincidentally, they hit on a similar system to an ancient human society who lived but 5 km from them; the Lakedamons or Spartans (if you take my interpretation of CaC geography). Because eagles are "better" than cats, they're seen to know when a kit is too weak to be a good warrior. Within their first days of life, a new litter will be placed in a prominent sunny spot for several hours. Kits who survive are welcomed into the clan, and are named after this process. Upon death all bodies are laid near the peak of the mountain for the eagles.
xxxxApprentices have to live outside of the actual camp until they become warriors, and face a trial before they can become warriors of surviving on their own outside the confines of the territory for a moon. Cats who fail will be sent out at new moon every moon until they succeed.
xxxxThere are two ways to get out of this; by becoming a medicine cat, but medicine cats are likely to be unwilling to take a cat who doesn't show the determination expected of any cat who others' lives depend on; or to use that moon in the wild to find another situation to survive in. There will often be additional tests, primarily for males, when high-ranking cats were skeptical of them being sufficiently tough.
xxxxGenerally old cats are respected, and have high prestige, which baffles outsiders who only see Zenithclan's more brutal side.

Full Moon (I)

xxxxCarin stopped a few steps behind her parents again. Just because they could read all the signs around the place didn't mean she could, and a big girl at 4 didn't need to.
xxxxFar more interesting than the fifty bajillionth sign mama and baba had seen was the lovely cinnamon coloured cat resting on a broken wall a few metres away.
xxxx"Mou aresei, kyrie gata." She said, rubbing her hand a little roughly over the cat's back. The cat leaned into her touch, and all too soon, behind her she heard-
xxxx"Carin, ela!" That was her mum, sounding disappointed of all things, at her finding a cat! Cat's were great, how could finding a cat make her mum annoyed? Carin stared at the cat, ruffled him a little more, and only said a goodbye as her mum held her hand to lead her off.
xxxx"Antio, gatoula."
xxxxOther clans would surely find it ridiculous for him to genuinely like the human kits, but they were rarely as cruel as their adult counterparts, and it was wrong to hurt any kits - unless doing so made the clan as a whole stronger. Caprastep's eyes followed her as she left.
xxxx"Bye."

II

xxxxA cinnamon tail wriggled minutely just off the ground, lightning-made-cat flying free with a swiftness to make Zeus himself proud, and the mouse was no more. The tail turned, tip flicked slightly to the right in a fashion made habit, and the tom trotted outside into the bright sunlight.
xxxx"Hey, T-
xxxx"..."
xxxxNo. A few humans turned to look at him, and one cooed, but no meows in return. No one to share his catch with.

New Moon (XIV)

xxxxClouds covered the sky, and the moon had fled once again. Kapra was alone, even Starclan having abandoned him this night.

XX

xxxxKapra took one look at the rain outside before retreating further into his shelter. He still had the remains of the sparrow he'd caught the day before. That would have to be enough. He felt terrible in the first place, but besides that, the rain was still plenty of excuse.
xxxxHe barely made an effort to greet the humans that came near him.

XXI

xxxxThe sparrow bones looked ever so tantilising today, now they were the last remains of his food, while the rain still fell steadily.

XXII

xxxxKapra forced himself out into the rain. Within seconds his fur was soaked through, and his teeth chattered loudly. But there was a shrew hiding under a fallen stone he could see, a few human nests along. It was only small, but it would be enough for now. Not wanting to spend any more time in the rain than he had to, he took shelter in between a structure where two rock walls had fallen together. They opened out at the other end to a sheer drop and a beautiful view which only reminded him more of his isolation.

XXIII

xxxxMist covered the valley and clung to the trees, in a warm embrace.
xxxxMisery plastered Caprastep's fur, in a suffocating grip.

XXVII

xxxxYolande sat in a tiny wooden booth, day in, day out, issuing leaflets and fliers, and pointing people up the hill, then 20 minutes later, down the hill. And today, as the last few days, a cinnamon coloured cat sat watching her.
xxxx"Geia pos eisai;" She asked. And then she sighed. "Ti kano, milao me ekeini ti gata;"
xxxxSuddenly, a streak of brown, and on the desk where management had failed to put a glass front (to her complaints until her opinion very suddenly changed half a second ago). His head rubbed against hers. "Eiste oloi monoi;" The cat meowed.

Full Moon (XXVIII)

xxxxCaprastep fell asleep feeling cold - not in his skin, it was a warm night. It was a deep cold, deep in his heart. As he had every night in the last moon, and the moon before, and the moon before that...
xxxxIt was long hours before he lost feeling of the floor below him, and his eyes opened in a silver-lighted wood. Just in his line of vision were probably more fully grown trees than he had ever seen in the rest of his life, and it was certainly the densest wood he'd ever seen.
xxxxEight silvery cats stood before him. He only recognised one of them.
xxxxA white cat he'd been friends with as a kit. Heliotrope-paw.
xxxxHe had to be in Starclan.
xxxxHis friend seemed so small, and so young now. He'd barely been 8 moons when the lynx got him, but here he was just a kit.
xxxx"Helio, I... it's been so long, it's so great to see you." Kapra supposed he couldn't really complain of dying now, could he? Far better than having to dwell in his loneliness any longer. "So long. Are the others... No, no." Kapra turned his head to the side while shaking it vigorously. "I couldn't wait t-"
xxxx"You still have a while to wait, my friend." His voice was both that of an innocent kit, and a long-hardened warrior as one. Mixed together. Helio had to have seen so much more since his death. The Starclan warriors looked between themselves, and then nodded. A ginger (or what would have been ginger fur, anyway, once the silvery tone was removed), nudged Helio forwards. Proudly, Helio raised his nose towards his now older friend.
xxxx"We hope that a new clan should stop other cats meeting that lonely fate. We hope that you can bring strength and memory of us back where it belongs." The curdled effect grew more pronounced when Helio said "We" each time, like several cats were speaking. Kapra's nose felt cold where it touched the ghostly remnant of his childhood friend. Dread filled him. He'd be alone again, alone for eight whole lives than he had to be... If he spent all his lives just on his own, with no chance of rejoining a clan, it would be an unspeakable hardship. He supposed he'd have to create a clan, for his own sanity. "With this life..."

Speaking in Greek is deliberate for the humans. I can translate down here if wanted though!
I may add to this later, but this'll do for now at least by my reckoning.

weather:

greenleaf - The heat is almost unbearable, and the sun is constantly glaring. Prey is still relatively active, but the allure of their cooler dens may make them hard to come across. The likelihood of coming across a wanderer has also decreased. Roaming rogues often don’t see the need in joining a clan, but don’t worry. A lot of them are easy to persuade. Queens will have a far easier time kitting in the summer, and they will be less likely to lose their kits or their own lives. Sicknesses are less likely to occur and far easier to cure with the abundance of herbs growing throughout the territory.
