Matteo may seem like a drifter to some, but he might respond to such observations with,
“Drifting, but with direction, my friend.” He is a young soul, but is wise beyond his years.
He hopes to aid all those walking in darkness, even if they are unaware of his meddling.
He finds joy in watching others realize they will not always be so unlucky. He spends a
lot of his time alone, but sometimes drops in to visit those who are now thriving and
play some harmless, uplifting pranks on them to get a few extra smiles.

Atop Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Italy, some say they occasionally see a twinkling red
star. Many stories have been created around it, but it is referred to the most often as the Lucky
Star. Those who are struggling sometimes hike as close as they can get to the top of the
mountain and tell the star why they feel they might give up, in hopes it will find them a reason
not to. Sitting among the stones and snow on the peak, is Matteo, listening intently. He will then
spend the next few weeks following each lost soul about their daily lives and leaving small ‘signs’
that will catch their attention just enough, that they will begin to believe the Lucky Star had
heard their plight and seen the effort that they’d made to reach it on the mountainside. Most
will think their luck has come from the star, but only Matteo knows that it is coming from they
themselves. They only needed a little push to start bettering themselves on their own, and a
little red star to guide them to the top of their mountains.
