weather:

newleaf - The season brings with it a tirade of warm showers and new growth within the territory. Duck for cover if you're not a fan of getting wet! Queens will have a much easier time kitting and the likelihood of losing either the mother or her kits will be greatly reduced. Prey will be more abundant than ever, what with most critters eager to finally be able to stretch their legs. With rogues eager to feed, your border patrols will be more likely to come across a few. Any sort of sickness will be harder to catch in newleaf, but danger can still come in the form of floods.

"I'm bored of fish!" Badger was just growling when a shadow flitted through the bushes. He remembered trying to train earlier but he couldn't get the hang of it. At least he could improve fighting skills. "I should recommend that then." He purred in amusement, glancing back at Petal Gaze, who was glancing around as if she had heard something else. When he looked back, Badger was looking into the bushes. Then Badger was gone, dashing into the bushes. "What in StarClan?" he growled, thinking mostly of how he didn't quite know what it was.

Meanwhile, further in the bushes, Badger - or the preferred name as Birch - muttered. "What is that?" he growled, arching his back. "Don't hurt me... If you yell the fox will get you!" a voice whimpered, revealing themselves to be a scrawny, young she-cat. Badger slashed his claws across their muzzle, an automatic defence. She reeled back in pain and terror, before crouching with her back to him. "The fox..." she wailed quietly. "I'm actually called Badger, but I can get Fox Claw for you." the young she-cat looked towards him. "Not a fox... Foxes are bad!" Badger nodded. "The fox I know is terrible, a real mouse-brain," Badger continued. "I am Mouse.
You are Badger. Fox Claw is your friend. Where is Squirrel?" Badger tilted his head, surprised. Squirrel Pounce was one of the newest warriors, and notably one of the best hunters too. Mouse flashed a hollow smile before hearing the warriors. She attempted to run, but Badger caught her by the scruff of the neck and whipped his paw around her muzzle."Try to make sense!" Mouse growled, before going limp, her gaze down to the earth. "Now stay, or you will become our prisoner." she looked down, her gaze unreadable.

"Who's this, fresh-kill?" Fox Claw teased, looming over Mouse like a monster. A fox. She whimpered slightly. "It's okay." Petal Gaze muttered. "But... A fox!" Mouse mumbled. "She thinks I'm a real fox?" Fox Claw laughed cruelly. "In fact, you seem familiar. I remember seeing a little sniffling loner when hunting earlier." her laughing rang in Mouse's ears. "What's your name then?" Fox Claw's eyes examined her curiously. "M-Mouse." Mouse mumbled. "Now stay away, fox-breath!" she said, plucking up her courage. Fox Claw laughed, a single claw extended as she poked Mouse in the chest. She jumped back. Then something warmed her. "Go away, fox-breath!" Badger echoed. At that moment, Squirrel Pounce emerged from the warriors den, blinking rapidly in the sunlight. "What's going on?" his mellow voice purred softly. "Did someone say apprentice?" Hurricane Glider asked, her head appearing from her den. "Squirrel Pounce, would you like to be Mouse's mentor?" Mouse looked up, pressing her nose against Squirrel Pounce's in a respectful fashion. "Squirrel Pounce is my mentor?" she asked. "The what now? Oh yes." Squirrel Pounce nodded, his eyes bright.

The next day, as Arrow Fang went with Badger to train, they worked by the river. "Not fishing!" Badger groaned. Instead Arrow Fang looked up to the trees, as if ignoring him. "We're not doing that," he purred softly. "Look up!" Badger looked up. Trees. "Climbing sounds alright." he offered. "this can also help you with surprise attacks. Leap on you enemies!" he dashed up the tree with surprising speed and leapt of a branch gracefully, before landing with ease. Badger flexed his claws excitedly, surprised at his mentor's hidden agility and grace. "How do you do that?" he asked, tilting his head. "Flex your claws like this - good -and approach the tree. Use your paws to navigate it. Strong branches are the ones you should look for." Arrow Fang meowed happily, really getting into it.

Cloud gracefully leapt through the forest like a gazelle, jumping over a bush with ease. Suddenly he skidded to a halt, right in front of a party of fierce cats. "Found you!" a young tom growled, looking fierce."Hello," he purred calmly. Badger tilted his head, before muttering something to an older tom in the patrol. "Are you... 'warriors'?" Cloud asked, his eyes filled with calm. "Yes! I am the leader of this clan! Would you like to join?" Their leader asked, stepping forward with courage. "Sure." he purred softly. "I am Cloud-" He was just about to carry on speaking when Hurricane Glider interrupted. "I'm Hurricane Glider. Your new name shall be Cloud Leap." Cloud Leap nodded. "Shall I join your patrol then?" he asked. "Go ahead. We're just returning to camp." Fox Claw observed silently, and as they walked back to camp bumped into Badger on purpose. Badger growled. "Who are you growling at?" She asked with a smirk. "At least I'm not a silly fox-breath."

Arrow Fang walked into camp confidently, noticing Hurricane Glider catching up to him. "Seeing as we don't have a deputy, I was thinking of maybe choosing you." Arrow Fang nodded. "Really?" he asked in disbelief. "Unless another warrior arises, you shall become deputy then. But not yet." She purred."Thanks."

Just as he was making his way to see Petal Gaze, Badger came up to him. "can we go training soon?" Badger asked. "Fox-breath keeps annoying me, so I want to get away!" he growled. "Why did we have to bring her on the patrol?" as Arrow Fang looked around he saw Fox Claw smirking at Badger, before she saw him and scuttled off, probably to pester Mouse. "I was thinking we could do a double training session with Squirrel Pounce and Mouse." Badger jumped up and down. "Sure!" He jumped towards the camp entrance. "You can go now with Squirrel Pounce, I'll be there soon." Arrow Fang nodded to Squirrel Pounce, who was just getting Mouse. Badger tilted his head to one side before nodding.

"Hey," he purred, standing in the entrance of the medicine cat den. "Hello?" Petal Gaze stepped out from the shadows. she clearly had been sorting herbs, as they were scattered across the floor, some in piles. "I brought you a mouse." he offered. "Thanks." she seemed subdued, taking the mouse before dropping it gently onto the floor. "What's wrong?" he asked, sensing her shyness. "I... I think... that I'm expecting your kits." Petal Gaze shyly looked away. Arrow Fang widened his eyes. "That's great news!" he purred, surprised. "Not exactly," Petal Gaze paused. "Medicine cats aren't supposed to have kits." Arrow Fang licked her cheek affectionately. "I have more good news at least." Petal Gaze didn't resume her worried expression, instead nodded. "I might become deputy." he began. She smiled.

"StormClanners! Gather under the Tall Stump!" Hurricane Glider yowled, her eyes bright. She looked around at the gathering cats, noticing Arrow Fang at the front. "We are here to appoint a deputy." she paused. "Arrow Fang, will you come up here?" he came up happily. "Will you accept the role of deputy?" Arrow Fang paused.
"I will do all I can to be the best deputy I can be. Thank you for letting me take this role."
He smiled wistfully, looking up to the setting sky.
"The StormClan legacy shall live on forever!"

greenleaf - The heat is almost unbearable, and the sun is constantly glaring. Prey is still relatively active, but the allure of their cooler dens may make them hard to come across. The likelihood of coming across a wanderer has also decreased. Roaming rogues often don’t see the need in joining a clan, but don’t worry. A lot of them are easy to persuade. Queens will have a far easier time kitting in the summer, and they will be less likely to lose their kits or their own lives. Sicknesses are less likely to occur and far easier to cure with the abundance of herbs growing throughout the territory.

All the patrols flooded into a camp, chatting happily about the weather and patrols and things, greeted by the eerie silence that flowed through the camp.

One cat ran ahead, his blue eyes wide. He was looking for a certain someone. A loved one he was wondering about. He walked up to the nursery, acting as if he was simply wandering around. His ears pricked up. A small squeak met his ears. Not a soft voice quietening them, just squeaks. Dread filled his heart. "Petal Gaze?" he asked. Silence continued. Hurricane Glider looked towards him with a questioning look. He walked cautiously nearer to the entrance. The squeaks were louder. "Petal Gaze?!" he asked loudly. As if wanting to leave quickly Squirrel Pounce spoke quietly to Mouse, edging closer to to the camp exit. Silence continued. He burst in, his eyes adjusting to the slightly darker den. Nobody followed, sensing something. Only Hurricane Glider edged forward, her eyes wide.

Four kits were squeaking. His kits. He felt a pang of pride for a moment. Then he noticed their mother, barely breathing. "Petal Gaze." he continued in a low voice. Then Arrow Fang realized he was alone. He drew in a shaky breath, before beginning to speak to the kits.
"It's okay, I'm here for you no matter what."

It had been three days since Petal Gaze had been buried, two since the kits had been named. Now it was time to talk. "Arrow Fang?" Hurricane Glider asked quietly. She had been rather subdued since he cousin had died, and neither had left camp. "Yes?" came a quiet reply. "We need to talk, about the kits. They need a mother." she hesitated. Then she began in a lower voice. "Or they shall join the stars." she sighed, tears threatening to breach through. Grief was a dull ache the two friends shared. Hurricane Glider looked at the four sleeping kits, a small smile on her face. "You want to look after them?" Arrow Fang asked in disbelief. "For Petal Gaze."

I don't mind about the art, it's okay if you are not able to get replies straight away. The death of Petal Gaze surprised me, but it adds drama (even if I was only just developing her character).

Badger ran ahead of the patrol once again. The bell was coming louder. Badger had never heard of such a noise, so he eagerly carried on. A She-cat was going along a low branch, stalking something. She clearly appeared to be far from her Twoleg best as there weren't Twoleg houses for miles. He watched as she jumped down, and pounced eagerly. She stopped in surprise. "a lost kittypet?" he asked. "Get away,
pigeon!" Badger growled, his claws bared. "Pigeon?" then he laughed, a warm laugh. Out of the corner of his eye a ginger pelt ran forward. "Briar?" she asked with a snarl. Briar snarled back. "Flare?
I thought you left to get a 'better' life, not to become friends with some cat with no manners: well less manners then you." she huffed coldly. Fox Claw growled, stepping forward with her back arched. "I told you to leave me alone! Everyone wants to get away from you." The previous kittypet laughed coldly at her words. "I came to join a clan." she said slowly. Badger bared his teeth but said nothing, looking away from Cloud Leap as he stepped forward from behind a tree. "Cloud Leap, we have a warrior to join the clan." he said hesitantly.

"StormClanners, gather round!" a familiar voice called, slightly hesitant."I have a few announcements to make." Hurricane Glider glanced over to the two cats sitting at the base of the TallStump. One was lean, tall and serious, while the other was bouncing up and down, a bell noise coming from their throat.
A collar? She paused, only to see in the corner of her eye everyone was assembled. A small figure was also crouched. Lark. Hurricane Glider gave a little smile. "First we have two new cats joining the clan, Briar and Bramble.
They shall become Briar Dapple and Bramble Tooth." the clan cheered hesitantly. "Also the clan needs a-" Hurricane Glider gulped. "Medicine Cat, so Bramble Tooth shall take this role." The only sound after that was an acorn falling before she began again.
"This Clan also needs a proper meeting call! Tell me what you think it should be!
Winner gets first pick of fresh kill, and that can be anything they want it to be." then Hurricane Glider left the stump, Lark trailing after her innocently.

"I'm bored of fish! This means I can choose whatever I want!" Badger exclaimed to Mouse, who was shyly walking over to her mentor to ask if they could train. She turned round. "That would be nice..." she thought quietly. Badger nodded excitedly. "But I like fish." Badger shuddered in horror. "So do I," another voice giggled from behind him slyly. Mouse looked around to see who spoke. But she didn't need to as soon as she heard the bell. "It's me, Briar Dapple." she said in a voice dripping like honey. "We could tell by the bell." Badger laughed. "At least we don't have stupid bells -whatever they are- to tell the others where we are." he grinned. Mouse nodded, before shooting a glance towards Badger as Briar growled. "You don't know who you are messing with. I actually know how to catch fish, and pounce on enemies." Nearby Fox Claw smirked for a second. Then she recognised Briar Dapple.

"Who do you think you are Briar? Fox Claw growled. "You think you can barge into anything, don't you?" Briar Dapple growled, stalking off to pester the hunting patrol."Thanks." Badger purred shyly. "It was nothing Badger-breath." Badger smiled. "What ever you say, Fox-dung."

Then Badger turned to Mouse. "Can you teach me how to fish?" Mouse nodded. "O-okay," they two walked up to the river,
chatting. "How about we make a deal?" Badger asked. "Like what?" Mouse replied. "We help each other with training sessions, like fishing and tracking." Mouse nodded. "Deal." the two cats smiled, reaching the river bank."So you put your paw in the water, but watch the sun before you do so. If your shadow goes over the water the fish will be scared off." Mouse purred shyly. "Lean back a bit." Badger nodded, leaning back a bit. "Now I put my paw?" the tom reached into the water. "Not like that!" Mouse reached out her paw to guide his. As their paws touched the two cats blushed.

"I don't think I can do this." Mouse sniffed tearfully. "I con't think I can be a warrior." She sighed. "You will become a warrior." her mentor promised. "Maybe we need to do more training." Squirrel Pounce continued. "How to collect moss?!" Mouse growled, her eyes solemn and angry. "I meant training set one step at a time," he continued calmly. "You joined the clan as a warrior." she growled."Does that mean you think you are the best?" she continued sadly. The warrior shook his head. "If you want to become a warrior you need to train very hard. That is simply what you need to do." Mouse nodded tearfully. "Can we go training now then?" she asked, sniffing. "First wait until the announcement ends -it is just about to start- then we shall go," he paused, hurriedly beginning again as she started to grow worryful again. "Remember the meeting call is being decided- you might be chosen. And besides,

Hurricane Glider had thought long and hard. It was time for some traditions and rules to be made with Badger's upcoming assessment. It had been annoying with Lark pestering her the entire time about when she was going to be leader, but she had eventually ran along to play clans with her siblings. Yet every little thing the kits did reminded her of something about Petal Gaze: Lark had her mother's passion for rules and order, Sun was always the nosy one, putting beetles in Oak's nest, Oak seemed to be Sun's shadow with a calmer attitude, while nearly every aspect of Blossom seemed to connect with the late medicine cat's mind. Hurricane Glider sighed. Everything about the kits reminded her of the past. She pushed those feelings away yet they came crawling back. All of the past was blotted out as Hurricane Glider focused on leadership. While she was not going mad she could at least try to be happier for the clan.

The she-cat squeezed out of the nursery, a little brown figure followed her. The leader growled, and jumped onto the TallStump. However, she had misjudged the jump, so Hurricane Glider toppled to one side before shamefully taking her place on the stump. "StormClanners, gather round!" all of their eager faces immediately popped up from the dens scattered around camp. "A few customs need to be made so every cat for the forests around will have heard of us: the strongest warriors in the forest!" eager cheers filled her ears. Lark nodded knowingly as if she knew everything. "So first a few rules need to be established before we can get down to it. When an apprentice takes their assessment they need to retrieve a feather from a bird to prove how worthy they are. And this has to be plucked by yourself, not from the earth." the leader took out a Nightingale's feather from behind her ear and held it up in her paw. Badger gaped in wonder. "I can find one too!" he boasted to Mouse. "These feathers can be worn for special occasions, such as a Clan celebration." She paused for breath, glancing down at Briar Dapple who was acting as if her collar was a special prize. She couldn't wait for the she-cat to realize how silly she was. "When clouds are brewing before a storm we shall hunt and have a feast! Apprentices will challenge each other to prove their strength." she looked towards the apprentices' reactions: Mouse seemed to be terrified while Badger flexed his claws. "What about kittypets? They need to prove their strength too. If they have collars then they are clearly too soft." Briar Dapple growled at Fox Claw's comment, while Fox Claw smirked and Badger gave Fox Claw a glance with happiness. "What about cats without feathers?" Arrow Fang asked, his tail waving towards Lark as she tried to catch it. "You will find an object that represents yourself." Badger grumbled something about wanting his own special object. "You might not be able to wear it however. If apprentices do not want to have a feather they can find a feather to wear before finding their own object." Cloud Leap held up a swan's feather that he had found earlier as if boasting he already had his feather.

"Clan Meeting Calls will be chosen by every new leader after a competition is held..." A dramatic pause followed. "And that call is-!" as if history was repeating itself Lark stepped forward, shadows and sunlight on her pelt creating a familiar pelt pattern. "All cats old enough to Swoop with the Storm gather at the HighStump!" A chuckle of humor spread through the crowd. "All Cats old enough to clash with the storm gather together!" the she-cat added enthusiastically. "You just revealed the best calls!" hissed the leader to the kit who was smiling proudly. Further chuckles followed. "So anyway, will the owner of the second call step up?" a cat stepped up. Their face was shocked as they listened, but brightened. "Mouse! Pick your prey, and congratulations!" Mouse hesitated. "Me?" with an encouraging look from her mentor, she stepped up.

Lark purred happily when learning of her new fame. She was the leader of the clan now, and the deputy, and the medicine cat, all thanks to the warrior code. "Lark! You can't be everything!" Sun growled. "I don't want to be an apprentice!" Lark growled back, scaring Blossom. "You can be my apprentice if you want, not Blossom's. She's a rubbish mentor. Not even knowing the warrior code!" Blossom jumped back with hurt in her eyes."You'd be a rubbish mentor-thingy." Sun groaned, his ears flattened and eyes closed. "You would be a rubbish berry, and being a warrior- Ha!" the young she-kit argued, laughing. "Leave me alone. My head hurts." he scampered off in anger to the medicine cat den. "The warrior code seems to be nothing to these fur balls." Lark mumbled to herself proudly. "I know what it means."
