Its overpay, if you use it as two '16 rares = a '17 very rare, so you would be overpaying

I highly disagree as their store pet is overpay, just because it's labelled 2017 doesn't mean it's worth a 2017 rare it's worth a mid or late 2010 rare

disagree. '17 store pets are worth a late '10 rare each. so it is, in fact, unfair to the griffin.
the other side of the griffin is paying equivalent to a '15 very rare, '15 rare and '15 uncommon, which makes it a large underpay on their side.

after re-reading my 'very rare' statement (and editing a ton of times due to coding cries), i decided i needed to cut it down to rares-
15vr = 2 15r = 1 14r

Please don't give advice when you don't know your rarities.
It's way unfair to the store pet as it's worth a late '10 rare. Your side only has recent rares that don't add up to a '10 rare (:
