Harley opened his eyes steadily as a small ray of sunlight broke through the clouds that were currently covering the sky “Oh, what a nice day…” he mumbled to himself sarcastically, starting to stretch out his slender, front legs as he lay on his side – wishing that he could just close his eyes and fall back to sleep instantly. That was all he had wanted to do lately, sleep. It enabled him to forget that he no longer had the relatively easy life he once had before the hurricane, and the fact that now he was surrounded by other dogs rushing around, never stopping, always working. Looking over at the young doberman pup - messing with a leaf - across the way he thought about how, sometimes, he wanted to just leave and be by himself and relax, like he was now, whenever he wanted to. Obviously, though, that wasn't an option it was much safer for him to be with the pack of dogs for now, no matter how frustrating it could be for him at times.

Lady's ears perked to the sound of a voice, quickly followed by her eyes as she sprung her entire body up incase she had to protect herself. The dog was slightly smaller than her, but size was not something she underestimated "Who are you?" she questioned curiously; whilst making sure her guard was always up. She didn't recognise the dog or his scent although she hadn't spent a lot of time meeting her pack mates, she was scouting the territory most of the days that she had been here, and during the nights she got as much sleep as she could - energy was spent quickly trekking through the woods.

Enzo was crouched on his little haunches, ready to pounce on his prey in front of him – waiting for the perfect moment where the breeze was working in his favour. Suddenly, he pounced, slamming his paws, claws and all on top of this fearsome creature. A leaf. It was quite the catch for an imaginative little pup such as Enzo. He enjoyed practicing his hunting and fighting tactics on such things, there obviously wasn’t much else for a pup his age to do to help the pack so this was what he resorted to. Thinking of the future was he going to be a hunter, a fighter, a scout, a sentinel, a sigma, a salutary, an assassin. The possibilities seemed endless to him, he had so many options however he had his mind almost completely focused on becoming the alpha of the pack at some time in the future.

Bella

They had lost everything. Their home, their owners, food, clean water, everything. Bella didn't know what to do. Not only was her life a stake, so was her pup's. She didn't know what to do except wander around, looking for food. She kept Bo with her at all times, making sure he was within touching range from her. It was important that they stay together and find a way out of this.

In the distance, Bella saw what looked like a pack of dogs, walking their way. She already had bad vibes about his band of pooches. She whispered to her pup, telling him to stay behind her. By the looks of it, all the dogs were in really good shape and could easily catch up if they ran.

"Mommy, look! Other dogs!" Bo cried, and started bouncing towards them. Before he could get far, Bella caught him by the scruff and set him behind her once again.

"I told you to stay behind me." She said in a firm voice. Bo obliged, obviously frustrated that his mother stopped him from seeing the other dogs.

The group was still approaching, and Bella saw that the leader had a very strict and merciless expression on his face.

"Oh boy."

"Alright kid." Pheonix huffed looking around for any other scouts. They were either out already or none wanted to join.
But that was fine. Stella seemed competent and Zaza seemed very excited and dedicated. "Let's hit the ruins. Stella, take up the rear and Zaza stays behind me. Scouts stay quiet and keep their ears open so let's be quick and efficient. Move out." Phe took off towards the woods, head held high and ears open. "Now Zaza, you need to know how to recognize the territory when you go through it. The best way is to find landmarks that are big or recognizable. See any nearby?"

Stella nodded at Pheonix's orders, ready to get to work. She nudged Zaza affectionately with her head, pushing the pup in front of her. Stella kept a brisk pace behind her captain and her charge. For the first while, the trail seemed uneventful. While Pheonix was talking to Zaza about remembering the path around the territory they called home, Stella kept her ears out for trouble.

Erza shrugged as the other dog didn't respond. She saw another dog, a little one coming in. Strange, she didn't recognize her. She decided to go investigate. She quickly noticed there was a pup with her. She quickened her pace and soon caught up with her. "Hey, are you guys okay?"

Zaza looked around. She noticed there was a rabbit hole, but there were rabbit holes everywhere. There probably weren't even rabbits in it. She looked at a big tree. There werent as many trees around since the tornado hit. She roots had begun to come out and it was very obvious. "How about that tree?" She asked, pointing at it with her muzzle.

"Who are you?" Bella asked, demanded even. She was frantically searching around for Bo. She saw, just in the distance, the little golden pup. He was jumping and running around, most likely excited by the other dogs. She couldn't run and get him, the other dog seemed to be blocking the way. Bella decided to answer her questions, and get out of here with Bo.

Erza was surprised at the female's harsh tone. "My name is Erza. I'm a sigma here, meaning I may be teaching your pup soon" she said, going over and gently nudging the pup back to his mother. She got down to his level. "What is your name, little guy" she asked cheerily, smiling at the young pup.

Pheonix turned her head toward the tree. The roots that were coming out of the ground were noticeable to be seen from far off and it could possibly be used for cover for smaller dogs. "Yeah that's a good one! Back when I was a housepet, I used to give all the noticeable areas in my territory nicknames. So sure we could call it a big tree, or we could give it a memorable name like Tangleroot Tree, or something. Helps you remember better." Pheonix grinned down at the pup. "Alright Zaza, let's see how well you can keep up. Let's get to the ruins and check out the area." Pheonix kicked up her paws in an excited bounce before galloping across the forest floor.

Stella smiled at Zaza, excited for her young charge to be doing so well on her first trek. Seeing Pheonix begin to bound away, Stella nudged the pup in the rump with her nose. "Hop to it kid. We've got territory to cover. I'm sure our fearless leader wants to get there and back before nightfall" Keeping up with the pup and the Aussie wasn't hard for a dog of Stella's size. She barely had to break out of a run to match Pheonix's crazy determined sprint. Soon the scouts had reached the edge of their ruined city. Stella sighed, looking out over the wreckage of her old streets. The sun was just about to set, sending beams of light through the rubble. Stella kept her ears up, now even more wary of loners or other animals.
