The tom was so lost in thought that he didn't hear Jade-Eye approach. He flinched slightly at her touch before turning to the deputy.
He nodded in response to her question. After an awkward few heartbeats, he remembered with a jolt that she couldn't see him nodding, and quickly tried covering up his mistake.
"Mhm, I fouf fhe 'ould lie if" He stammered awkwardly through the fish, mentally clawing himself for not just putting it down.
Too late now. He put the fish down.
"I can't imagine having to suddenly take on such a position, and having to take on an apprentice at the same time. I'd be overwhelmed! She seems to be handling it well." He tried pushing the ice in his blood down in an attempt to be friendly. Open suspicion would just put everyone in a bad mood.

Jadeeye nods, chuckling slightly. "How have you been faring? I know youve lost a couple of cats close to you.." As she spoke, she thought of how she voted for her half brother to be exiled. He wasn't the killer and it was her fault she was gone. Her whole demeanor changes as well, her shoulders and tail sagging from their normally proud and stiff position

He sighed at the question, surprised. It had been a while since someone had asked him how he was doing.
"I'm doing no worse than the next cat. There are cats who have lost much more than me." He said, avoiding the original question. He wasn't good with emotions, especially his own.
"I'm just-" He thought about what he was about to say.
"I'm just worried we won't find the killer in time. Are we really doing the right thing by exiling our own clanmates?" it might be the only way. He thought sadly, a rare show of emotions in the tom. He straightened up, flicking his tail towards Jade-Eye.
"We'll figure it out." He tried to sound encouraging.

Moonpaw pads out into the camp, and notices Jadeeye and Shadewave talking.
"Shadewave, are you bringing this to Breezefire - i mean - mom? She has quite the job now..." she noticed that Jadeeye's position was not as always.

Jadeeye inhales. "Theres just.. nothing to go on.. No fur, no scent or anything." She knew she was breaking down. "I dont know what to do Shadewave. I dont even know if exiling cats is the right way to go!.." she turns away, quieting down as moonpaw approached. she didn't have any family left in her clan and she felt utterly alone, sitting down with her tail swishing slowly in defeat

Breezefire woke up from a dream of where she was treating cats but then she died after treating all of them, from an unknown reason. She padded out to the clearing where she could talk to her daughters. "Hi Moonpaw. How are you doing?" she asked her daughter. Her daughter looked a little shaken from the past few moons, but Breezefire wasn't sure if she was or not.

Goldenfeather trotted back into camp, a large fish hanging from his jaws. He noticed his apprentice, Moonpaw, now awake in camp. He let out a quiet purr, quickly placing the fish in the fresh-kill pile. His eyes moved to the warriors den, before moving over to his apprentice. His ears perked, and his tail flicked as he moved to the she with controlled footsteps. It did not seem obvious, but his paws hadn't stopped shaking since the last murder. Two cats had died- gone missing- but Goldenfeather feared the worst. His paws were not shaking due to fear, but due to the intense feelings he felt in regards to the situation.. He only wished to protect his clan, and that feeling was strong enough to give him anxiety. That feeling of anxiety was driven by his need to watch, to observe and ensure the safety of his other clan-mates.

As he approached the black and white she, he gave an awkward smile and touched his nose to her shoulder.
"I see you're awake and ready." he mewed, glancing at Shadewave and Breezefire with empty intentions. "I was thinking I should allow you to pick your training this morning. We could fish, hunt, or enhance your abilities in battle." He sat back on his haunches, awaiting his apprentice's answer.

Shadewave touched his nose lightly to Jade-Eyes' head.
"You're doing your best, and that's all we can ask of you." For a split second, he wondered how he'd do in her position. His pride told him that he'd handle it much better than her, but his brain and heart told him he had not the experience nor mental strength.
He picked up the fish and stood up, realizing Breezefire was already awake. He nodded to Goldenfeather and Moonpaw before silently sliding into the medicine cat den. He quickly dropped the fish next to Breezefire's nest and retreated, being careful so as not to wake Brookpaw.

Moonpaw saw that her mentor was awake. "battle moves, please" she said. "Oh uh, mom, i'm doing just fine" Moonpaw said
