A long time ago, there was a Great War between lion and wolf. Both hated something in particular about the other, and each was jealous that they couldn't have what they had. Lion was jealous of the cunning and stealth of the Wolf, and Wolf was jealous of the beautiful manes and strength of the Lion.
Their jealousy was so driven by hatred that they declared war on each other. They thought that if one species died out, they wouldn't be jealous anymore, and they could assume their role in the community of animals, stealing it from them.
The battle was fought for months and months, thousands died and many were severely injured, but neither wanted to admit defeat, as that would be a loss to their dignity and pride.
But, one day, a young lioness met a wolf. They were both fed up with the war, and all they wanted was peace. They ended up spending many days together, away from the war, and eventually, they fell in love.
When the lioness found out she was pregnant, she told the wolf she had to leave this place. They couldn't know what had gone on between them, or she'd be killed by her own kind. The wolf obliged, hoping only for her safety, and helped her escape her people.
The lioness fled for a very long time, finally escaping the war and her species. Alone, she lived very sadly, missing her lover, until the day came in which she gave birth.
The baby was a beautiful cross between the Wolf and the Lion, and she was stunned at his equal amount of both their kinds. Once she saw this, she knew she had to go back and show the others, even if they killed her.
If she showed them what beauty a Lion and a Wolf could create, maybe they would cease the war.
For months she began to return, pushing through foul weather and sickness to get home. When she finally arrived, carrying the mutant in her mouth, she ran straight into the fighting and dropped her baby in front of them.
She could see her lover step forward from the crowd, his eyes shrouded with concern.
"You see what can become of a Wolf and a Lion? This beauty? This grace? Please stop your fighting. When love entered the picture, this amazing creature was born. I beg of you, stop the war, for my son."
Everyone was shocked into a dead silence, each amazed at the sight. Her lover stood strongly beside her, head facing the crowd.
The Lion leader stepped forward, and bowed his head in respect, a surprising gesture from him. Slowly, each Lion followed suit, and each Wolf began to take part.
"If such beauty could be created between two wretched foes, then let that beauty reign over all of us. We will end the war and hate no longer." The Leader of all the Lions spoke. The wolves nodded in agreement, though less enthusiastically.
From that day on, the war between them ended. Many Lions began to fall in love with many Wolves, and love brought them closer together than ever.
A whole new species was created thanks to the Lioness and the Wolf, together ending the war with their son.
