Story or Art Piece:
"Mai...come on, there's something behind this wall. I can feel it,"
Avery Jude, or AJ, looked towards his sister. A massive wall towered
in front of them, grey stones cold to the touch. The wall is old, they
could tell by the moss sprouting from between the cracks.
“Oh, do you feel it through your feet?” his sister, Mai, softly joked. She
was always quite lighthearted whereas AJ was more troublesome.
“No," he scolded, "It’s... It's a gut feeling, you know?” AJ planted his pa
ws onto the wall and pushed gently. To their surprise, the barrier broke apa
rt and rocks tumbled around them.
AJ stretched his arm out as to protect her Maitreya. She gave him a comfort
ed glance but swatted him against the arm, silently cursing. "You could've
killed us! Well, maybe. Y'know." An accident from the past would've pre
vented it.
They looked up and admired a new scene through the wall-not-wall; a magic
al city bustling with other people.
“That's the energy I felt. We're not the only ones,” AJ gasped.
Together, the siblings entered the mysterious gateway.
------
When they walked through, they got a few weird looks from others;
nothing to worry about. That is, until they see someone with one of
the many beasts that they’ve encountered roaming free alongside t
he other kals. It was a massive boar-like thing with tusks of an elep
hant, sharp as knives.
“Hello there,” greeted the curiously ornate beast-keeper, not
much younger than themselves. “Do you not have a companion?”
Though both siblings were confused, Mai was clearly awestruck by th
e giant hog. A grin spread across her face.
“Don’t you mean a monster? Who would ever consider one of these
things a companion?” AJ asserted, nervously eying the boar.
The kalon chuckled. “Here, we train these beasts. They are ours to
control." "I'm sure you're aware of the Magical Revolution? They hel
p to defend and attack, alongside the Legends. Have you heard of them?
Legends are those with angelic traits such as wings and natural magic ab
ility. ”
Mai's eyes glimmered with excitement and patted the boar affectionately.
"I've only heard stories! You really domesticate these beauties?"
AJ prodded the creature with his finger to see if it would take a stab at h
im, squinting cynically. "You're sure they're fine to be in captivity?"
Maitreya sighed and watched her brother before pinching him. She apology
ized sweetly before continuing, "Thank you for teaching us. I'm Maitreya, but
please call me Mai." She whapped her tail against her borther foolishly meddl
ing with the boar. "This is Avery Jude, AJ for short. I apologize for my brother
's abrasiveness. Would you be willing to help us around a little? I'd appreciate su
ch a kind kalon like yourself guiding us."
"You are so genial!" the kalon laughed. "Of course I will. Welcome to our
fantastic city."
Both Mai and AJ had a feeling that this wan't the end of the journey to find other
kalons- but rather, the start to a longer adventure that layed ahead.
