perhaps we should start with how the two met. I would think somewhere in the wood or so. Byron would most likely be laying against a tree trying to gain some sort of motivation

i think the woods would be a good meeting spot.

would they recognize each other?

like, could they have bumped into each other and vaguely recalled the others name?

what time would it be?

would it be dark, unable to see each other or make out who the other is?
is it daytime, they are able to identify the other by appearance

I was thinking if Cauis was merely running away from the supernatural forces that chase him on the daily. He trips maybe close to Byron or on him and such.
Perhaps Bryon takes him in and such seeing that's he's in a rush.

I like the idea of the darkness for the time period though!~

yea!! they both are sorta reluctant at interacting at first because they they don’t know who the other is. cauis’s eyes are practically glittering with tears. maybe bryon feels bad and they propels him to take him in?

Yes!! Byron would definitely take him if he saw that he was distressed. He'd fix him up something to eat and drink in his little makeshift shack.

Probably question him a bit to help the tears fade from his eyes.

cauis would say something along the lines of, “you wouldn’t believe me if I told the truth” would stop crying after asked a couple questions

byron could go with it and believe him based on his appearance (he’d be a little scraped up)
-question him a bit more about it cautiously

or! he wouldn’t believe him until something supernatural showed up at which point he freaks out or something
-they both would be unsure of what to do

cauis was warned about the magical amulet a week or so before

-the previous amulet holder disappeared shortly afterward
-was probably snagged by a monster
-amulet can grant powers but rarely occurs
-cauis has no control over it
-supernatural forces/monsters are drawn to it
-he just wants to take it off and sleep

I apologize for taking so long to respond.
Byron would probably follow both of the options provided.

He'd be a bit skecptical at first, but a few things he would believe based upon his appearance, but he wouldn't fully believe until they've been found out.

He'd definitely have a bunch of questions to ask.
The basic:
What was that thing? And etc and of course he'd ask about the amulet as he's mixed up with all of this now

it’s ok! you don’t have to constantly respond

“how am I supposed to know what that THING was???” he stresses out over it easily. he’s encountered a couple of them but he immediately ran away and hid somewhere. “i think you maY be involved now. those things seem to really dislike you now.” somehow it would tie him in.

-they know where cauis lives hence the reason he was roaming the forest searching for the previous amulet keeper
-unaware of their disappearance
-“haha.. can i stay with you for a while?”

cauis would apologize a lot but at least he’d suffer with someone else

-constant panic attacks for the first couple hours together
-“i ruined your life? i think I did. i guess i did. yep. i did it-“
