The air has a slight nip to it in the mornings and at night, easily finding its way inside dens, so make sure to repair your dens and patch any cracks. The two-legs and their dogs won't come into the clan territories as often as they did in green-leaf, but you will still see them from time to time. Predators are now more commonly found, so be careful. Some of the prey has started to hide away for hibernation but there is still plenty for your cats to catch before the cold season. Kittings will start to become harder during this time and the chance of kits and queens dying is common. Be careful with apprentices and kits being outside to much, being exposed to the cold can make them sick.

"It's not fair! It's just not fair! Why couldn't it have been me?" Reedberry cried out softly to himself. Her gorgeous Pumalight. Now his three kits will never know their real father or mother now. He should have been the one to die. His kits deserve their mother. Well, at least Weaselhop agreed to take them into her care. She will be raising six kits after the loss of two more. There was no way he could go out there. He heard the clan giving their words to Pumalight wishing her a good life in StarClan. He couldn't do this.

Weaselhop was silent when looking down at her two stillborn kits. Her face numb. No expression. Why was it like this. First Dewkit and now these two little she kits? Thundercry eventually padded in with a smile on his face only to grow concern when seeing his mate looking at the ground at two still newborn kits. "W-Weaselhop? Is everything alright? He asked before padding over to see the eight kits by his mate. "Where's Pumalight?" He asked now looking around the empty nursery. "She's dead Thundercry. Pumalight died. I took in her three kits." Weaselhop mumbled out softly before she nudged her own two dead kits to her mate. "This is Swankit and Dovekit. Stillborns." She meowed before breaking down crying. Thundercry sighed before he nuzzled his mate. "I'm so sorry that this happened again." He meowed softly wiping away his mate's tears. "Let's name the other kits. He meowed looking down at the six kits. He eventually picked out which ones were his and scooped them closer. They wailed out wanting to continue to feed but eventually calmed down when feeling their mother's embrace. "How about that little guy?" He meowed pointing to the smaller kit. "Tinykit Sounds like a nice name." Weaselhop purred and nuzzled her son. The kit squeaked before curling up in his mother's paws. They named the other two Icekit and Wolfkit and were about to name the other three until seeing an upset looking Reedberry pad in. "Reedberry? Anything wrong?" Weaselhop asked the tom. "Please don't tell anyone this. Pumalight's kits are mine. I'm their father. No wonder StarClan took her away from me. It was my punishment for breaking the code. If you don't mind me, I'd like to name my kits?" He sighed out before the couple allowed the broken tom to pad closer. As he saw his three kits nurse and squirm around, Reedberry cried softly before he grabbed the first two kits he saw and named them Rabbitkit and Hawkkit. He looked over at the last kit, a little she kit. "Pumakit." He meowed before nuzzling the tiny kit. The she kit mewled out and grabbed her father's nose as he groomed her up. Reedberry smiled softly at the kit who then tried to start feeding. He nudged Pumakit back to Weaselhop before she quickly latched on now feeding with the others. "You're kits will be safe with me. You may come in at anytime to see your kits." Weaselhop purred at the tom. Reedberry nodded before he took the couple's down two dead kits and carried them off to be buried outside of camp.

Reedberry saw the clan grieving Pumalight before the tom pushed his way through the crowds and placed Weaselhop's kits beside his dead love. At least her kits would have a safe journey to StarClan with Pumalight. The tom sighed before the clan padded back to camp after burying the three cats. Though the clan needed some good news and Sorrelstar knew just what. The she cat leaped up onto her announcing place. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey join me beneath Peak Rock." She called out and saw the clan pad over and sit down. "As hard as it that we have lost two newborn kits and a queen, we have been blessed with six new kits. We are also blessed to see that Puddlepaw is ready to be a warrior. Puddlepaw, please step forward." She meowed before seeing the excited young she cat pad over. "The clan has watched you grow from a playful kit to now a loyal and gorgeous young lady. For this day forward Puddlepaw, you will be known as Puddlehop for your cheerful attitude and also quick reflexes. May StarClan watch over you as you serve the clan as a warrior." Sorrelstar meowed and touched her nose to the she cat's. The clan cheered her new name before she padded down. The clan was excepting Shardpaw to also be a warrior but to no avail. The meeting was dismissed and cats went back to their duties still questioning why Shardpaw wasn't a warrior.

"Shardpaw. I'm really sorry I couldn't train you. Come on, let's head out now for a hunting practice. We can bring Hickorypaw too." Leopardheart meowed out to the apprentice. Shardpaw looked up onto to give a grunt and agreed anyways. Hickorypaw was gathered with her mentor and the four headed out.

The hunting group was at ease until Shardpaw scented a badger. It... was very strong. Recent. "Guys, come on let's get back to camp. I smell a badger. We better tell Sorrelstar." He meowed before the group raced back with the prey they caught. The group entered the camp onto to be greeted in horror by a badger in camp. It was eyeing the nursery too. They looked over seeing Weaselhop growling back with six kittens in terror beneath her. Thundercry dashed over and helped his mate stand guard of the nursery. Thankfully the others entered the camp and immediately charged at the badger. Puddleleap also joined in the leader, her mate, and the deputy. Shardpaw watched as his sister leaped on the badger. She was still young but there she went, attacking it not afraid to die. Shardpaw sighed softly before he was greeted by Hickorypaw. For some reason, she looked more beautiful then ever today. The tom felt his ears grow hot before he snapped out of it as the she cat talked. "Come on Shardpaw. How about we hunt? We can get away from this mess for a bit." She spoke leaving Shardpaw in shock. "But what about your parents? They need protection too right?" Hickorypaw nodded but meowed back, "They will be fine without me. They are strong together. Besides, the rest of the clan is fighting the badger too." With hesitance, Shardpaw agreed to follow Hickorypaw for a hunting trip. The apprentices padded out of camp and headed out alone.

The two walked along the river. The water was still rushing as well as ever. Shardpaw took a few laps and shivered slightly. It was a lot colder then what he was used to. Who can blame him? He's never seen leaffall or leafbare before. The tom sat down and Hickorypaw followed before she splashed her paws in the water. "Hickorypaw don't do that! It's cold." Shardpaw whined at the she cat. She only laughed back in return before the two started to hunt. They would have a water fight after they were finished hunting. Hopefully the clan was doing okay.

houndstar and sootpaw were on their way back from their hunting session, their prey in their jaws, when they heard a voice speak from behind them.
"er, hello?" behind the adderclan cats stood three loners, a light orange tom standing in front. houndstar noticed the older she-cat, however, and took note of her before facing the tom again. "who might you be?" he said, his voice a little bit deep. he slid in front of sootpaw, just in case. the young she-cat squeaked in anger. "hey! i can't see the new cats!" sootpaw raced to meet them. "hi there! i'm sootpaw of adderclan! who are you? you look lost. i bet i can help!"
"sootpaw, come back here," houndstar hissed, and the small she-cat scuttled back to houndstar. the tom chuckled in amusement. "no need to fret, sir," he meowed, eyes meeting houndstar's steadily. "my name is rowanflame. these two cats with me are sunsong and willowfeather." he gestured to the tom and the she-cat, respectively. "we would like to know if we could join your clan."

Tears. Salty and messy tears dripped down her already tired face. It sounded as if she was trying to say something, but all that could come out was pure nonsense. Only few garbled words could be noticed at most, mixed with sobs and grit teeth, but nobody could even bother to listen to them. The entire clan just stood there with shock. They were just as afraid as she was yet they didn't do anything. With the fear controlling them they just couldn't control their future actions, not one single cat dared to take a step forward. They were like a deer in a monster's lights; frozen. Few cried but the rest just dipped their heads in silence. Their energy had been drained long before and only few had the strength left to drop tears. It all didn't matter. She didn't notice them either, just the lifeless cat that laid before her. And with that thought she sunk into the now cold and bloody ground. She was the one who made the grass cold, making it lifeless as it flattened against her paws. She didn't care about that either, all that she could manage was sobbing uncontrollably as if not one single cat could wake her from this sudden trance. Maybe that was why no cat dared to move forward, to move past it just like that and help her. No one had ever seen her cry and no one ever will, because that night no one dared to set eyes on the one who would kill for her clan; their very own leader.

It had all happened so quick. A rogue who no one knew the name of, and no one would likely try to find out, was sent to kill a certain cat, and that was Sunpetal. The cat had sadly succeeded. It hurt Ryestar's heart to know her clanmate had been deputy for only a single moon and now he was gone just like that. Rye could've been murdered in cold blood as well. She could still hear what he said; "and we'll get you too." It sent a quick chill down her spine as she stood before her deputy's body. She could've protected him, but she didn't, she was too late and had killed the rogue only moments after her deputy's death. She had failed others too many times and the loss of this certain clan member was not going to be one of them.

"Starclan," she murmured through her ongoing tears. "Trade my life for his, please." Nothing. "You heard me! Take away my life, I never needed it anyways!" Nothing. And she gritted her teeth once again as she held back her messy tears. It was no longer grief that fueled them, it was only anger. Then she huffed and let out a terrifying scream for help. "Someone, anyone, take my life for his!" That was the only thing that Morningclan had heard that evening.

She felt it; death, and it hit her just as fast as lightning would. Ryestar remembered it, the first day she truly had felt pain. Her sister was battling her and she was simply clawed against her back leg. She also recalled her sister apologizing about it for days, she shouldn't have, because the pain she felt today could not of been compared to the pain she had felt in any other day of her life. She was naive and she realized it. This was definitely not Starclan obeying to her emotional plead and she was going to pay for this, either by Starclan themselves for her wrongdoings or whatever dark force was taking her life at this moment. Then as her body hit the floor you could hear a breath from the opposite side of her.

Ryestar opened her eyes, now restless. Her breath did hitch when she caught a glimpse of her surroundings. Everything around her was dead. The trees were bare and lifeless but that wasn't what caught her off guard. It was the others. They were watching her like a predator watching their prey. They were the ones that were truly lifeless, scars marking each one of them. They were fighters, but not the good kind, and the leader jumped up in a second. Her legs could barely hold her up due to her trembling and she had barely managed to take a step back. They were crowding her and laughing at her cowardliness. The empty beings suddenly stopped to stray their gaze to a tom who's voice very much reminded the leader of Sunpetal. Stoic and wise, aging Ryestar by hundreds of moons. Though his laugh contrasted from his voice, it was hoarse and twisted.

"Thanks for the opportunity lovely. You see, that incompetent deputy's life was thrilling to steal. Yours? Well, that will just make this whole ordeal loads more fun."

He snickered as he took a step towards the she-cat. Everything about him was sinister, especially the way he could change every little action. He strode towards her with power yet just a second ago he pranced towards his soulless buddies much like a kit. Then the snicker turned into another one of his cruel laughs, waking Ryestar from her own thoughts.

"Oh! And it looks like we already got you."

Her eyes fluttered open once again, and the pain she had once felt before overcame her, what had that rogue done? A low sigh came from her raspy voice. It felt as if she had claw marks wrapped around her throat. She didn't and in fact, she had no marks or injuries anywhere. Everything was internal. It wasn't possible to see a large gash across her chest, but Ryestar could sure feel it. Every breath she took, she could feel endless pain.

"Look who finally decided to open her eyes. Did you get good rest?"

"How long was I out, Creamfoot?"

"A day, maybe. I haven't got much sleep either you know? Now how about we try walking so you can get yourself something to eat."

"Everything hurts, I don't even believe I will be able to stand. Aren't you a medicine cat?"

"I haven't noticed any, well, battles scars. Don't worry, I will try and find some herbs to soothe your pain."

She responded with a sleepy nod of her head due to her voice being too ill to go on. And then the medicine cat went on and on about how the clan didn't have a leader for more than a day. How it was absolute chaos and how he had risen up to the challenge. Sunpetal was overwhelmed with shock, from what she had heard, and had spent most of his time sleeping or staring into what seemed like nothing. He continued to talk as he helped Ryestar out of the thick moss bed. The medicine cat also talked of a loner who had recently joined the clan, she was expecting kits, due in two moons. Odd how death often brings life with it. Then a sudden wave of realization washed over the leader, she had completely ignored her medicine cat and she was pretty sure that he had noticed it too.

"It's alright, by the way. The clan supports you as always and I forgive you as well. Starclan can't even start on what has happened. Ryestar, please do keep your head on straight. You can't have love distract you from your true obstacles in life."

Pheasantpaw, a young tom who most cats have overlooked, has been missing ever since the death that welcomed Morningclan. He had ran away with great fear, figuring out far too much about his cynical mentor. Brightpaw was worried for him and had sneaked out of the camp to look for him before any of the patrols could event think about it. She had noticed where he had gone; the creeks she had at least guessed. She hoped she would find him soon to get back to her training. Though, little did she know that Heathernose was far from the camp as well and Sunpetal was in no condition to teach.

The she-cat had already made it to the moonpool and each word she spoke echoed off the walls. Her soft white fur shined in the darkness of the cave. Happiness overwhelmed her, she was to soon get what she wanted.
