I think this is my first time posting here, so hello to all! :>

I'm enjoying USUM so far! I didn't have much time to play yet, so I've only finished three trials. My team's constanly changing, because I just can't decide! There's so many Pokémon that I'd love to use. Right now it's: Kecleon (Chives), Oricorio Pom Pom style (Bee), Alissa (Cubone), Eevee (Chester, will evolve it today into Leafeon!), Zorua (Loki) and Lopunny (Ares)! I had a LOT of trouble with Totem Marowak, I really didn't expect it to be that hard! It ended up KOing two of my mons and absolutely wrecking the rest. I almost lost :/ The other two totems were easy, though! Bee just blew them away with her Air Slash.

Smidgen of regret
I started out two days or so ago and picked Rowlet as my starter, though after getting to the second island I kinda regretted the decision and reset my save so I could choose Popplio. My brother got UM and I doubt he plans to change his started. That pretty much just means I won’t use a water or fairy type on my team, and it also opens up another slot (since I don’t often use grass types)
So far, my team looks like this
Popplio (Silent Song—since I didn’t want to just reuse Serenity from my first game)
Buneary (Ditzy)
Grimer (Corrosion)
Pichu (Patterson)
Inkay (Deceit)
Caterpie (Twix)
I think I’m planning to keep most of these, but I remembered why I didn’t originally use Alolan Raichu; Hau has one on his team >.< so I’ll be going with Electrivire and probably Talonflame because I already have a dark type

just starting my US, I decided to use a team of my favorites, even though I’ve got a lot of weaknesses now (ice is always a problem for me ;;; ) I competitively bred my team on Moon and transferred them over. My current team:

Akala trials have a really weird difficulty curve. I just barely managed to squeak by the water trial with Alola Vulpix with Freeze Dry. Fire trial was a breeze with Vaporeon and I scored a OHKO on the grass trial. I'm about to face the kahuna which is gonna be a climb.

Getting close to finishing the main story (I'm at the league). I can safely say all changes to the "main" story are very minor. I definitely would't say it's a mix of platinum and black/white2 but a mix of crystal and platinum.

The changes:
Battles are more difficult than sun/moon (it's not super hard but definitely harder.)
Bunch of side quests
There is nice minor background changes
Minigames
Minor changes to some of the trials
A few new Pokémon (mostly UBs)
A few minor changes to main story

And that's about it? Unless you like normal third versions I wouldn't recommend getting it. I still haven't played the after story so I'll update when I do.

With that said I do like the changes and enjoyed playing through it but I feel lied to. I remember reading an interview saying it had double the story of sun/moon, it doesn't. Hopefully the aftergame is much longer than previous games (xy oras sm)

One of my key complaints was no post game. I didn't care about the Ultra Beasts so I didn't even bother with that in Sun. I'm curious to know how good the post game is.

How did you get an alolan vulpix that early?

Traded one from my Sun game. I bred a ton with Timid nature, Snow Warning ability, and Freeze Dry. If anyone wants one hmu. I have a few left over.
