Gender: female (she/her)
Outfit Design:
Why is it their favorite?: Opal's fashion sense is highly inspired by the indie boho aesthetic. She loves flowers, bright or natural colors, and she tries to include accessories that match her look. Some of her favorite things to pair with her outfit include jewelry with stones that resemble her name or fur color, flower crowns, shades like the ones shown in her picture, hair clips, and small pins on her jacket or sweater. This outfit is her favorite because it keeps her warm, but not
too warm, and is perfect for fall or spring weather, which are her favorite times of the year. The necklace she wears was given to her by a close friend, and she tries to wear it as often as possible. Her favorite color is yellow, which is why the shirt she wears is her favorite, and the sweater she has on in the image is one she's had for years. It's old and a little discolored from wear and tear, but it still feels soft against her fur whenever she puts it on. The high-waisted jeans she has on are relatively simple, but they make her feel cute, and pair with her shirt relatively well. The shades she has on are tinted orange, and not only keep her eyes safe from the sun, but also make the world appear to be a bright orange, which she finds amusing and endearing. To her, the world almost appears to be in a sepia camera filter, and as she is an amateur photographer, this is something she loves.

"since when have you become so forgetful?"
Username: Jarra-Jen
Name: Letha Myosotis
Gender: Female
Outfit Design: Letha is the type who likes to put effort into her appearance as she's a huge fan of lolita fashion, but she doesn't have tons of money to spare. Thus, she cannibalizes most of her clothes to make new ones, so most outfits don't stay around long. She gets tired of most of them quickly. The outfit she's never touched, however, is a lolita kodona (male-style) sailor outfit.
It has thick navy blue and white striped overalls that cut off at her mid-thigh. The ends bunch into a ruffle pulled by a small red string tied into a simple bow. The edges are hemmed with a delicate, but simple navy blue lace. The legs puff quite a bit, which is normal for the style. You can't see the waist as it's covered by the top, but it has a red ribbon around it like the legs although it doesn't ruffle or tighten.
The blouse is made from a fairly complicated pattern. The middle of it is double breasted white fabric that ends in a vest style forming a sort of 'w'. The buttons are gold and reminiscent of navy uniforms. The rest of the top is made of the same thick striped fabric as the pants and extends past the bottom of middle section, giving it an illusion like it's a coat. It flares out over the top of the pants and ends similarly to the pants; ruffled by a thin red ribbon tied in a bow and having blue lace hemming it. It is a straight cut all around.
The sleeves are similar and end with the same ruffle, red ribbon, and blue lace combo. They are tightly fit to the arms and go down to the wrist, but they can be rolled up and buttoned above the elbow by gold buttons like the chest.
The shoulders don't puff out despite that being the style because of the collar. It's a traditional sailor collar--a square shape draped across the shoulders and back and meeting in a point around the middle of the breast. It's red which contrasts the rest of the suit and has three ribbons that go around the collar--white then blue then white. The area above the point is filled in by a navy blue square of fabric that goes up to the collar bone. It has a red ribbon to line the top.
Accessory-wise, the outfit is a little simple. The socks that go with the outfit are stark white socks that stop just below the bottom of the shorts. The shoes are plain, traditional all black oxford shoes that lace up. She often accessorizes it with a cartoonish sailor hat. It's floppy and barely hangs on to the side of her head because of it's tight band and lots of bobby pins. The band is red with a large white ribbon wrapping the middle of it. It has a matching bow on it that hangs down the side of her head. The top of the hat is plain white with a red spot in the middle. It's very loose and it makes a soft shape when worn. There's a navy blue scarf that ties under the collar into a sort of bow that ends in triangles. She also often wears a golden-chained pocket watch with it, tucking the watch itself into a front pocket and the chain attaches under her top to the waist of the shorts. [ 572/600 ]
Why is it their favorite?: Letha has intense memory problems that make it difficult to live her life, especially since she has no support system and lives on her own. She travels and stays in hotels off of the money that she mysteriously gets in her debit card account once a week. She never stays in one place long simply because wandering off is just something she does. Her getting completely and utterly lost is a common occurrence and it's an honest miracle she hasn't died in some woods yet.
Because of all this, her clothes are terribly important to her. They're one of the only things that she has carried with her the whole way and the sailor suit is especially special. It feels extraordinarily familiar to her, which is a very strange emotion for her. It's comforting for her to wear because swears that she almost remembers things when wearing it. Not flashes of memories or anything, but bits of tones and colors and just... things. Remembering anything is beautiful to her and she loves it. When she gets the chance to wear her suit, she is going to because it's the most familiar and comforting thing for her.

Username: Reigncat // Name: Cora // Gender: Female
Outfit Design: Your eyes immediately jump to the layered chiffon skirt Cora is wearing. It has a blue ombre color that starts with dark blue which slowly transitions to teal, then a standard blue and ends with a pastel blue that has a hint of electricity in it. It is long and flowy as it swishes every time Cora walks. Sometimes she trips over it since it is a tad bit too long for her.
The skirt hides them but a pair of canvas zodiac patterned Toms adorn Cora's feet. They are mostly a dark, midnight blue with white stars creating the zodiac signs. The left shoe is quite worn and the right shoe has some threads poking out.
Cora also wears a cotton graphic tee-shirt that has the words, "Who Me?' written on it. The metallic silver words are written in cursive which adorns an otherwise plain lavender shirt with 1/2 sleeves. The shirt comes down to hip length, covering part of the ombre skirt. To top that off, a wrinkled lab coat provides minimal warmth and protection to Cora in the cold food lab where she spends most of her day testing recipes. There are a few food stains with the most prevalent being a tea stain on the sleeve and a tomato stain on the hem. The sleeves cut off at her wrists but don't hug them and the labcoat is slightly longer than the tee-shirt, reaching her knee. There are 2 white buttons on it and a breast pocket on the left side but Cora never uses them and instead attaches little fabric pins there.
As accents to a fairly basic outfit, Cora wears a gold-plated chain choker. Hanging from it, the words "I Love You" in cursive and a heart locket. The heart locket contains a black and white photo of Cora as a kit where if you flipped the words "I Love You", you would see Cora's birth date engraved. Her long hair is often tied back into a bun, with a black elastic with a fake black rose attached to it. The rose is mostly black with streaks of red at the edge of the petals.
Why is it their favorite?: The chiffon skirt is breathtakingly beautiful like Cora. The stained lab coat is a testament to Cora's long nights in the food lab, trying to improvise a recipe for a demanding client. The graphic tee is a hint at Cora's witty and sometimes lazy nature. The canvas Toms show Cora's love of the stars and nature. Her necklace was the last thing Cora has known from her hometown where her neighbors engraved the birth date and printed the photo. The black rose reminds Cora of her friends and how she has left them to pursue her dream. It was their gift to her and unbeknownst to them, her good luck charm.
This outfit shows who Cora is and that makes it her favorite since she gets disillusioned so easily. In a competitive world of cooking, it is easy to find a critic. Cora loves seeing the smiles of content customers but fierce words get to her. It just happens instantly like a sneeze but Cora gets lost and doesn't know where she wants to go and if she is good enough. Each part of this outfit tells her story differently and together they help to tape her confidence back together after someone has stepped on it and bring her back home after she is lost. Sometimes Cora hates this outfit since it reminds her of happier days but inside she knows that if it weren't for these random articles of clothing that tell her story and serve as mementos for those she have left, she wouldn't be in the cooking industry. That is what makes her love this outfit.

Quick update!
I'm sorry judging has been taking so long. I had everything planned out initially but some family issues arose and I'm currently behind on some of my teaching responsibilities as I'm trying to prepare for a few trips just around the corner. I will do my very best to have the winner soon - and again my apologies for the wait!
I guarantee it will be less than a week before the winner is posted but I can't say exactly when as I'm not sure what time will allow!

Hello all!
I wanted to first quickly say that I was shocked by the sheer number of different ideas you were able to come up with for this little kit - so many great ideas! I'm wildly impressed with how each idea managed to surprise me or make me feel like I really knew your character you'd created. Literally every single entry had some little quirk that made me go "Aha!"
Which of course made it very difficult to judge. Seriously - my first cut eliminated like none of the entries and I sat there thinking this was going to be impossible.
But in the end - I did have to select just one winner.
And that winner is…
Epiale!
I loved how you took Gabriel's story and developed each part of him in close connection with just how important this outfit is. The way you were able to tie in all the benefits and downfalls of his natural coloration versus his personality really helped me feel a great connection to your character. I loved how important you made the specific armor and pointed out that even though it wasn't a typical kind of armor to be worn at the tournament, it was perfect for him. I love how you reflected his identity into his outfit - two things that are beautiful but strong. I felt like I really got to know your character really well and just how much this event mattered to him. :)
I'd like to give a quick shoutout to a few forms that were right at the top - though I could honestly give praise to every single form posted!
Aey - What. A. Close. Call. I was enamored with your story about Jack's grandfather and her relationship with her sister - I loved the details you put into her outfit and how you were able to connect her with her family! The thought of her as a pilot was incredibly enticing and you did such a marvelous job of showing it!
Zailune - A gorgeous story and a beautiful dress! Another one that I kept coming back to over and over again - the thought of Katherine's distaste for dresses turning around completely when her favorite outfit ends up being something she normally detested all for family connection. I loved the mystery of the story, and I wish I knew what had happened to her adopted parents. You really pulled me in!
neongraveyard - You had such a cool outfit design and I just adore the elements of friendship and how Opal made her own way of viewing the world - seeing in sepia is such a cool thought. I loved how well you could combine simplicity with style and special meaning with just something she thinks looks awesome. :)
Reigncat - I have to admit your lab coat idea caught me completely off guard! I wasn't ready for that at all - and for a second it threw off the groove of such a stylish outfit. But it became very quickly apparent just how much each piece mattered, and what a beautiful puzzle! You did an amazing job of creating somebody I felt like I knew by the end of your entry - and I felt my heart go out to Cora with her struggles to maintain perfection and battle regrets in a very challenging career!
Thank you all so much for entering - it was a true delight to be able to read through all of your entries. I just wish I could've chosen more than one winner!
Best of luck to you all in future competitions, and happy holidays!
