Coniferclan. Their territory is in the pineforest of the south where longleaf pine's spread across the forest. The floor of the forest is basically covered in ferns that go up to your ankles and where poisonous mushrooms lay. It's very important to watch where you step in Coniferclan territory, as there are many rivers that run across the land, running deep to your paws and up until your neck. Predators you can find are foxes, bears, and sometimes big cats. Snakes are very common in the land. Coniferclan warriors make good use of them, however. The snakes indicate where prey lay. The more snakes, the better, but they do leave more trouble, leaving the warriors extra cautious with where they step. The individuals in Coniferclan are naturally the cautious type, they're very understanding but are not gullible in any way and won't be happy if you use them for your own plans. They dislike dishonest cats, and cats who can't take anything seriously. They keep their word - most of the time - they're the ones who will keep their promises but won't make too many promises, either. Expect them to be blunt and insensitive. They're diet remains of birds, squirrels and fish, maybe a snake or two, but it's very rare.

solarclan's tradition:
when an apprentice becomes a warrior, they are presented with a gemstone that either correlates with their eye color, pelt color, or personality. for example, a fiery, energetic tom may receive a red jasper stone. kits are taught to anticipate the day when they receive a gemstone, and to keep it safely tucked away within their nests. the leader watches the training sessions and goes on hunting and border patrols frequently to determine what stone the new warrior shall receive. when a warrior dies, their gemstone is placed on top of their grave, to forever be a testament to them. it is said that their spirit is tethered to that gem, and if it's lost, then their spirit is lost. if an apprentice or kit dies, then the leader will choose a gem based on what might've been.

Flarestrike watched quietly as Velvetflicker walked Rowanpaw through the process of changing his wound dressings. Sweetstar had refused to take any herbs until his warriors and deputy had been cared for, unbeknownst to anyone but Velvetflicker. Once all of the others had been cared for, Velvetflicker was distraught to find that they were out of the herbs they so vitally needed.

“There,” the medicine cat approved, “Well done Rowanpaw. Nothing like a good fox attack for training a medicine cat apprentice.” She grinned playfully at Flarestrike, who grinned back at her.

“You’re right about that.” he agreed, “Broken bones, twisted paws, all sorts of cuts and scrapes. You two really have your work cut out for you, don’t you?” the newly made warrior chuckled.

Rowanpaw glanced at Velvetflicker, then smiled a little, “I suppose so.” she agreed, her gaze flicking up from her paws to meet Flarestrikes for a fleeting moment, before she blushed and was again intensely interested in her toes.

Velvetflicker chuckled, then nudged her apprentice towards the entrance, “Come on, we have to search for some dock and comfrey root for our noble, if clumsy, leader.” she said, smiling at Sweetstar, who just chuckled lightly. “Flarestrike, I expect you to be keeping those two clumsy fools off their feet, understand?” The medicine cat said, pretending to scowl furiously.

“Yes ma’am.” Flarestrike chuckled, flicking his tail lazily, “Although given my condition, I’m not exactly sure how you plan on having me stop them.”

“Oh, you’re a resourceful warrior.” Velvetflicker said as Rowanpaw padded out of the den, “You’d think of something.”[/color

[color=#686064]“Oh, Velvetflicker.” Sweetstar called, “I do have to do three more apprentice ceremonies, could your herb searching wait a few moments? It is customary to have the whole clan present.”

“This cat will be the death of me.” Velvetflicker pretended to groan, causing Rowanpaw and Flarestrike to laugh quietly, “I suppose so. But I am helping you to the shining stone this time. Last time you had to look strong and whatever, to calm everyone’s nerves. This time, you have no excuse.”

“Fine.” Sweetstar grumbled, feigning annoyance at his long time friend’s ministrations.

He stood, and the medicine cat paced to his side, calling over her shoulder, “Rowanpaw, you help Flarestrike. Swayingtrees should be able to manage on his own.”

The tabby apprentice nervously re-entered the den and padded lightly to Flamestrike’s side. He stood carefully, balancing himself for a moment, then allowing the younger molly to assist him. “Thanks for the help,” he said, smiling at her, “Today and just after the fox attack. You and Velvetflicker have done a great job patching us up."

Blushing, the apprentice smiled hesitantly, “No problem.” she said, quietly, “You certainly needed a lot of patching up.”

“That’s what happens when you do something stupid like try to drive off a fox on your own.” Flarestrike said ruefully, “I think I’ll be sore for moons.”

“You probably will,” Rowanpaw agreed, smiling, “And what you did wasn’t stupid, it was very brave. Now, you are lucky that fox didn’t grab your neck, but that doesn’t make it any less brave.”

Flarestrike shrugged awkwardly, “Yea, well, wether or not what I did was brave doesn’t effect how stupid it was.”

Rowanpaw chuckled slightly, “That is true.” she agreed, stoping as they neared the shining stone.

“All cats old enough to catch their own prey, heed my words.” Sweetstar called, his voice no stronger than it had been a moon ago. This worried Flarestrike greatly, but when he had spoken to Velvetflicker about it, she had assured him that as long as they could find the needed herbs, he would be as good as new in a moon or so. Scarred, yes, but still able to fight and lead the clan as well as he had before.

The clan began to gather, warriors waking their friends who were sleeping late, apprentices, nudging each other eagerly because this was the first time that they were included in that call. Flarestrike smiled, remembering his excitement when he was their age.

“Today, three more kits shall leave the small world of the nursery and join the ranks of the clan as apprentices.” Sweetstar said. Never one to bore, he always mixed up the beginning to the ceremonies. “Muddykit, Mothkit and Flickerkit, please join me on the shining stone.”

The three kits bounded forward eagerly, jostling each other aside in their eagerness to get to the stone. Once they were all seated, Sweetstar began. “Flickerkit, today you will begin your training. Your mentor shall be Falconwatcher, may he teach you well. From now on, you will be known as Flickerpaw."

The youngest kit flicked her tail contentedly, smiling as she heard the clan chant her new name, “Flickerpaw!”

“Mothkit,” Sweetstar continued, “Today you will begin your training. Your mentor shall be Silversong, may she teach you well. From now on, you will be known as Mothpaw.”

The smallest of the kits grinned cheekily at the gathered crowd as they chanted her name, “Mothpaw!”

Sweetstar smiled before continuing, “Muddykit, today you will begin your training. Your mentor shall be Shadowflight, may he teach you well. From now on, you will be known as Muddypaw.”

The oldest kit smiled bashfully as the clan called out his name, “Muddypaw!”

“You may go and greet your new mentors.” Sweetstar said finally, smiling as the apprentices bounded off, eager to begin their training. “As for the rest of you, Maplestrike has your assignments for today.” With that he stood, Velvetflicker immediately by his side and assisting him back to the medicine cat den.

Flarestrike stood, yawning a little as Maplestrike approached the shining stone. The deputy smiled encouragingly at the young warrior as he passed, and Flarestrike grinned back at him before beginning to pad back to the medicine cat den, Rowanpaw by his side. As soon as the three invalids were settled, the two mollies disappeared to collect herbs. Flarestrike was left alone with a sleeping Sweetstar, he did that a lot now, and a grouchy, brooding Swayingtrees. Sighing, he laid his head down, watching as the four patrols departed, each angling for a different part of the territory. He hoped that one of the border patrols would find a warrior around his age, although he knew it was unlikely. SwiftClan had grown so much that few loners wandered this way anymore. The only cats that were likely to stumble upon SwiftClan territory were kitty pets, or someone actively seeking to join their clan, like Falconwatcher had.

Swayingtrees eyes the ginger warrior with fury. Now that the camp was empty, except the obnoxious kits and their mother, who kept well enough alone, and his two companions asleep, he did not have to disguise his true emotions. “Nine lives.” he growled, “Of course. because precious StarClan has to protect their precious leaders. Nine freaking lives. And if that idiot tom hadn’t interfered, they might have all just stood there in shock until the fox could have finished him off. But no, mister goody goody had to jump in and be all heroic. Well, we’ll just have to figure out other ways to eat away at his lives. Or get rid of Maplestrike. I’d love to see him gone, almost as much as I want to get rid of his little clone."

One Moon Ago ~

Buglerpaw’s eyes narrowed to slits and her mouth flooded with saliva. Stars, she just wanted to rip into the older tom after what he did. And while she was at it, she might as well go after Coyotestar, too, since it was his fault the fight had broken out in the first place. Cormorantbark would have never attacked Pebblevine if he hadn’t even been brought back to camp.
A part of her panged with hurt, though, because she knew that the grey molly didn’t want ANY of them there. Buglerpaw had done all she could to talk to Pebblevine, though, and Elk made sure to try and hunt for her even if his efforts went unnoticed and ignored.
Cormorantbark paused and the apprentice’s muscles bunched up, prepared to strike, but all the tom did was lean over to snatch up some spindly green plants. “She listens to you.” He stated as he turned to face Buglerpaw, “Maybe you can get her to eat some of this. I’m worried about her wounds,” Cormorantbark said, his voice low and calm and annoyingly solemn.
Buglerpaw didn’t trust that for a second. What if they were poisonous? Then she’d be sending Pebblevine to an early death. No, the apprentice wasn’t going to do that. She would find some other way to help out Pebblevine. She’d study the herbs on her own. Pebblevine still trusted her. Hopefully... Maybe Buglerpaw’s efforts would be enough to get her to trust the apprentice again. The young molly couldn’t do much else, what with her lame leg.

Elk had gotten unexpectedly lucky with his hunt. Being that he was never entirely certain where the prey was, sitting on their haunches and chewing at roots and seeds, it was a surprise to be returning with a couple of voles. His eyes never really worked for him when he hunted. They were always drawn in to an invisible point, leaving his vision wonky and, most of the time, unreliable.
The tom skipped back to camp. Pebblevine wasn’t much for fish, so hopefully the change would be nice. A rustling in the bushes drew his attention and Elk’s ears flicked forward. As he was contemplating between setting his prey down and pushing his luck for another fresh meal, a silvery molly leaped forward tumbling into the tom and sending his hard-earned prey flying.
“I’m so sorry!” She scrambled to her paws, her lilted voice breaking horribly as she rushed to get her words out as quickly as possible, “Being alone was just driving me crazy, haha. I just needed to do something, but now that you’re here—”
Elk swallowed thickly in an effort to keep his words steady, “I’m sorry, but you’re not allowed to be here.”
“What? Why not? I can’t handle being alone!” She cried, crumpling onto the ground as her eyes watered, “If I’m alone for much longer, I know I’ll go mad. I don’t want to lose my mind! I’m scared!”
Elk wasn’t really expecting the frenzied pants coming from the molly, but he didn’t know what to do! It was already chaotic back at camp. Pebblevine was aggressive as always to everyone who went near her. Coyotestar was almost always gone doing who knows what. Cormorantbark and Tarpaw were still threats. Buglerpaw was trying her best to keep her eye on them, but there was only so much an apprentice could do. Introducing another cat into an already surged environment, well…
Elk glanced down at the molly. She didn’t look very old. And he knew what it felt like to be alone for days, moons, years. But if he brought her back, Pebblevine would shut down completely towards him. Pebblevine, who had been the first cat HE’D seen in years and who had had enough patience to let him stick around. He knew Coyotestar would be happy, though, but the tom was hardly around for it to really matter anyway.
The pointed tom moved around the clearing, gathering up his voles by their tails, trying to ignore the broken sobbing of the lonely molly. Could he really allow another cat to roam around aimlessly as he had? At any rate, he’d end up on his own again anyway. The clan - that was what Coyotestar called them – was already breaking up. There was nothing there to hold it steady.
“What’s your name?” Elk asked, giving in at last if only to stop the molly’s tears.
“Quartz.” Came her watery reply.

“I thought you were gone for good.” Pebblevine growled weakly as Coyotestar weaved through the roots to reach her side, “But you just keep coming back.”
Guilt wracked through the tom, but he stood fast. He needed to talk to her, convince her of his ways. “Let’s go hunting,” he suggested, digging his nose beneath her fur to push her to her feet.
Her answer was a barking laugh, “Ah, I see. You’re kicking me out of my own home now. That I harbored you through leaf-bare means nothing now, right?”
“No, Pebblevine,” the tom said earnestly, “But you haven’t moved since you hid away here. Let’s go hunting.”
It took a bit, but once the molly was up on her paws, she followed Coyotestar without complaint, resigned almost. It was odd to not have her biting, growling, fighting her way to stay in her nest. She moved about in a lethargic state, her gaze drifting around the forest lazily as the camp disappeared into the distance. A small bird ducked for cover into one of the bushes, but the noise didn’t seem to register with Pebblevine.
As they approached, Coyotestar caught the small bird just as it made to flee to the canopy above. He set it down, absentmindedly scraping at the ground with his claws so that he could bury it. His amber gaze rose to take in the grey molly. Her fur was a mess, knotted and stained with the dried remnants of her blood. She looked like she hadn’t slept for days despite having never moved from within the tree roots.
“Pebblevine,” It sounded like a whisper, like a whine. It was so desperate a noise that Coyotestar felt embarrassed and angered by it. He shouldn’t have to be begging for his place here. “Starclan brought me here to start anew. I know you don’t like it, but if Starclan has demanded the rise of a new clan, there must be a reason for it.”
The molly shook her head, trotting a couple feet away to scour the forest floor for movement. “What sort of clan are you building, Coyotestar? Very few are loyal to you. You know that when I leave, Buglerpaw and Elk will follow me. You’ll be left with a volatile medicine cat and two cowardly kits. I’m not sure a clan can be built from just that.”
Coyotestar growled, leaping in front of the molly to stop her from walking away, “A clan is built up on trust and solidarity. How can I lead a clan if none under my care follow those values?”
Pebblevine merely blinked, calmly stepping around the tom to make her way back to camp.

Buglerpaw and Orchidpaw go out on their own to learn about herbs since Orchidpaw has a decent understanding and happens to be the most trustworthy out of the trio. Cormorantbark eventually comes across them and tries to correct some of the facts with varying degrees of success.

Elk tries to talk with Pebblevine, but is often drawn away by Quartz so that she can have some attention. They go hunting together.

The sun is shining bright and warming the air. It has started to become hot and water is starting to become scarce. Prey is still about and due to the lack of water they can be easy to catch. Predators have taken advantage of the easy prey as well so be careful when patrolling.

Hollypaw, Wolfmoon, and Featherflower sat in the nursery, laying at Featherflower’s belly were two kits nursing on their mother, Wolfmoon dipped his head to Featherflower and mewed a goodbye before exiting the nursery, soon excited meows came from outside, ”They’re beautiful, Featherflower” she purred, ”Yeah.. they are quite something” she grinned before nuzzling herself gently onto the two kits. ”What shall you name them?” asked Hollypaw, it was hard for her to believe that the same cat who welcomed her the most now had lots of her own, and couldn’t mother Hollypaw anymore. ”I was thinking Nightkit and Jaykit" she meowed, Hollypaw nodded, "why is Nightkit black? After all your a gray cat" Hollypaw asked, Featherflower went silent for a few seconds, "O-oh I remember n-now.. you-you told me about... him" she mumbled, she felt her small frail body heat up with nervousness and embarrassment, but Featherflower noticed her worry, "It's fine, really Hollypaw.. I know he will carry on in his kits" she purred, placing a paw over one of Hollypaw's paws, Wolfmoon's yowl broke through Hollypaw's thoughts, "Well cya later Featherflower, you too, Nightkit and Jaykit!" Hollypaw meowed before rushing out of the nursery, Nightkit curled up next to her brother, Jaykit, who meowed out in anger and shoved the other kit away with his small paws, Featherflower chuckled, pulling the two kits close to her, she didn't want to let the mother go out into the world.. afraid they'd just get themselves killed, why did Hollypaw have to mention him..?
one moon later..
Wolfmoon and Hollypaw had went to check on Jaykit and Nightkit, making sure both kits were healthy. Hollypaw had grown protective over the kits, every day since their birth she would check up on Featherflower.. maybe it was cause Featherflower treated her like a daughter, or maybe she just didn't want Featherflower going through what she had been through when her mate, Spider had died. Jaykit had barely been able to see yet at his age, as well as Nightkit.. so both kits were quite scared and panicked at the two cats checking up on them.. Featherflower's voice seemed to be the only thing calming them down.. it was a quiet day in camp, no cats seemed to be doing anything besides talking with each other, Amberstar had been telling Embersong about his brother, Embersong quite interested. Eaglewing and Windflight doing their own thing, Windflight taking a nap and Eaglewing admiring the beauty of the waterfall by the Fallpool.
