xxxxxxxRyestar and Creamfoot had just returned to camp, Creamfoot's normally thin and wimp build looking a bit fuller. He was finally gaining meat on his bones from the fresh-kill pile at camp. Unfortunately most, if not all the prey in that pile he did not catch. He definitely was not a hunter. They both had returned from the moonpool looking for guidance. Ryestar on her growing journey and Creamfoot on his destiny of becoming a medicine cat. He had much to learn but the leader had hope in him, pretty much all of the clan did. And when they had finally made their way back to camp they both wore their heads high. Morningclan now had a medicine cat.
xxxxxxx"Congratulations Muddy!" A roll of the now medicine cat's eyes made the sunny tom in return chuckle. "Have you got nicknames for everyone now?" he retorted. "Ah-I'm working on it. Though I do like Pongo's name an awful lot so I might just have to let that be." Sunpetal has relatively made everyone's nerves crack from time to time but no one seemed to stay mad at him. The terrific thunder that came out of his chest when he laughed made everyone a bit calmer, so you just couldn't it was near impossible. He definitely made a great mentor for Brightpaw. Although she was quite the opposite; reserved and would send a small smile in a cat's direction instead of saying a simple hello. Which she did, to both Ryestar and Creamfoot once they returned. Though the leader made a quick disappearance. She often did anyways.
xxxxxxx"I was thinking of hunting with Pongo and Beetletuft," Sunpetal said aloud. Creamfoot huffed once again, showing a simple bit of annoyance. He had changed a lot since he was found, straying from his fearful attitude. "How does that correlate with me, Sunpetal?" The warrior smiled at his question. It was warm and soft as usual. "I don't want to rush Brightpaw into training too much. I was wondering if you could let her change out that old moss in the nursery."
xxxxxxx"For the two lovebirds over there?"
xxxxxxx"They do seem rather close, don't they?"
xxxxxxx"You are blind my friend."
xxxxxxx"You admit it, I am your friend! Maybe even your best friend?"
xxxxxxx"Oh please-don't bother to get ahead of yourself."[ Ryestar and Creamfoot visit the moonpool (does not wish for a clanmate) ]

One Moon Ago ~
Oh Starclan, Coyotestar couldn’t believe it, but he actually missed the frigid air of winter. He missed the stupid piles of snow. He missed the frozen bodies of water. He even missed the lack of prey so long as that meant he could get away from green-leaf’s sweltering heat. His maw had been open and his breath heavy ever since he left camp. He couldn’t seem to pull in enough air and Coyotestar wasn’t sure if the tightness in his chest was because of lack of oxygen or brimming irritation.
Now ~
“So much for scoping out the territory,” he grumbled. The most Coyotestar had done was skid from shadow to shadow in a careful attempt to keep his pelt from catching fire. With a heaving gasp, the tom plopped down onto the ground, drawing his paws in as the sun rose overhead and steadily shrunk the shady areas scattered about the forest.
“A-are you alright?” Came the tentative squeak of a meow. Coyotestar must have dozed off. He jolted up and effectively sent the owner of the voice fleeing before he could catch a glance at them. “W…wait,” he gasped, trying to get his legs beneath him.
It felt like his veins were vibrating and there was a buzz reverberating in his ears. Coyotestar glanced down at his paws as he staggered a couple feet forward, surprised to discover he was drooling and making a dribbling mess of himself. His lungs felt tight, no matter how much he tried to drag in gulps of air. It was now that he realized his pelt was burning like he’d been set ablaze, but the tom couldn’t decide between dragging his tongue across the overheated fur in attempt to cool down or just going back to sleep.
It was odd to feel another tongue on his fur, and then another, but Coyotestar couldn’t really bring himself to care until his body was jerked away to a cooler area. He let out a scratchy, offended yowl, but was met midway with a soaking ball of moss. The tom eagerly sucked at the moisture, wondering somewhere in the back of his mind when he’d gotten so thirsty. When it was dragged from his mouth, Coyotestar dazedly waited with an open maw for another.
Instead he was given something dry and so incredibly bitter that he gagged. “Chew it,” a smoother, deeper voice commanded, “and then swallow.”
Coyotestar had half a mind to ignore the voice and throw it up anyway, but ultimately decided against it. He felt a little more aware after the terrible herb was gone. The horrid aftertaste and the odd chill coursing through his body was definitely helping to keep him conscious, too. The additional tongues hadn’t left him, though, so when the tom looked down the length of his body to see a pair of black and white cats helping to keep him cool, he gave a sigh of relief. Good, he wasn’t hallucinating phantom tongues, thank Starclan.
But then he noticed how young both of the cats looked, and a flush of embarrassment completely unlike the burning sensation he’d felt earlier crept up through Coyotestar’s body. He drew away slowly. “Sorry, I’ll just, uh…” he coughed, resuming the bath on his own, “take care of the rest. Thanks.” The smaller of the two gave a soft chuckle before ducking behind the other when Coyotestar looked up.
“Well, that’s the last of the feverfew. We’ll have to fetch some more later, Tarpaw.” The low, modulated voice came again before it was turned toward the leader, “Are you feeling any better? Can I ask who you are, tom?”
The leader’s amber gaze rose to take in the sight of yet another predominately black and white cat larger than the other two. Coyotestar scrambled for words. Again, a group of cats was roaming through the redwood forest. Before he could even think to how unhappy Pebblevine was going to be, the leader wondered whether or not this area was really safe to harbor a new clan. Starclan had brought him here, and he knew he shouldn’t doubt them, but with so many new cats popping up, Coyotestar couldn’t help but feel the growth of his clan was being threatened.
He rose to his feet, ignoring the slight shake in his legs as he stood tall and proud. “I am Coyotestar, leader of–“ Interrupted again, the tom’s side was pressed into the ground by a pair of paws, and he was left staring up at the older cat.
“You should really be resting. I’d rather not say what would have happened to you if we hadn’t seen you when we did.” The cat said, nudging another moss ball towards Coyotestar, “Maybe when you’re a little bit better, you can let us rest for the night at your camp.”
The tom huffed. Now that was definitely a risk, showing off his camp to strangers, but they didn’t seem to be aggressive. If anything, they looked to be nothing more than a roaming father and his kits searching for their next meal. Maybe the security and rapport of a clan would be appealing to the older tom. It couldn’t hurt to try and garner the rogues for his clan. Coyotestar would have to chase them off otherwise.
“You’re very skilled with herbs,” The leader noted, causing the other tom to perk up, “I can’t say I’m any good at working with them. We have an apprentice whose leg had been broken when we found her about a moon ago, and we had no means to mend the bone correctly at the time.”
“I doubt I can do anything to fix it now, but I can take a look at it.” The black and white cat offered, “Let me grab my medical stash and we can be off.”
“Yes, well,” Coyotestar hurried to reply, standing up to offer his aid even as the two younger cats dashed forward with the same intent, “What I mean to say is that I’m still looking for a cat who will be able to help in any future situations.”
The other tom hesitated and turned around with a mouthful of herbs and sticks, and he looked ready to shake his head before his eyes settled on his kits. Coyotestar watched as his expression softened and then hardened with determination, and the leader felt relief spread through his body. His clan was going to have a medicine cat.Cormorantbark glanced over his shoulder. Buglerpaw was struggling to keep up even with the slow pace he’d set. He was surprised she’d even tagged along in the first place, being that she currently loathed him. She still bore the marks Tarpaw had given her one moon ago, ragged burning wounds she’d adamantly refused to let him treat.
The tension in the air around him was thick and heavy, and the tom was half expected another attack from the apprentice, but it was nothing compared to the layers of agitation and rage draping the camp area back home. The heated grey molly had holed herself up in a den of roots after the confrontation, and she was relentless to anyone who dared try and get near her.
Cormorantbark’s actions had not been wrong. He knew that. He had done what any cat would do to protect their leader. He could still feel the fur between his teeth from when he’d latched onto her neck, could still feel the indistinguishable thrum against his tongue that could have been either her scream or her running blood. And he still felt proud because of it.
Coyotestar had approached him several nights ago when the sky had been very clear and practically dancing with stars. “You’re a medicine cat first,” He’d sighed, the furrow in his brow having gotten deeper from the last time the tom had seen him, “before you are a warrior. For that, I ask my ancestors to approve of the name Cormorantbark.” The leader had then said the stars approved even though Cormorantbark hadn’t noticed anything different about them. He supposed it was something he was just going to have to get used to now with his new role.
The medicine cat trudged deeper into the redwood forest, set on seeking out some more herbs now that he could hoard more than just a mouthful. He’d done his duty as medicine cat by protecting his leader from that crazed molly, but the damage that had followed needed to be addressed. He already had a list of herbs crafted in his mind, settled neatly beside the one of all the cats he needed to tend to.
Coyotestar and Tarpaw had been the only ones to willing let him work. The others had avoided him vehemently. Cormorantbark needed to catch them all at some point if only to ensure none of them were harboring infesting wounds. Then he’d leave them alone. Hopefully that would be enough. He needed them to trust him.[*Please don't give me a deputy yet. I'm saving this cat for some plot c:*]

Sorrelstar entered the camp again with more prey in her jaws. Luckily Reedberry also entered the camp at the same time with two new herbs in his jaws. Sorrelstar padded over to the fresh kill pile and set the prey down. "What herbs did you find Reedberry?" She asked while watching the tom enter his den and set them down. "Thyme and Coltsfoot. Quite happy that I did find them you know? Every herb counts!" Reedberry replied with a small laugh in his tone. Sorrelstar nodded before standing back up and padded back out of camp once again. When being a new leader, well there was a lot to do. Now she would check to see what her borders were like and hopefully find any new cats.
[ Sorrelstar goes out patrolling for more cats.

muddystar returns with their new medicine cat, who, the moment she gets to the clan, sees shrewwhisker and tells him he shouldn't leave camp again that day. He reluctantly nods and muddystar gives the new medicine cat the name snowpelt. After this, muddystar and cherrynose leave to either hunt or go on a border patrol while snowpelt leaves to gather herbs. Before leaving, cherrynose can be seen happily talking to shrewwhisker and sharing prey, which may lead to a potential relationship.

"Thank you for chasing it out," she meowed, wondering if it left any fox cubs behind. Powderbreeze nodded. "I want Ocrafur to take Frostedleaf, Ramclaw and Softheart hunting, we'll need our strength," she meowed, the warriors gathering around the leader and warrior. "Mentors, keep your apprentices safe," she meowed, before meeting up with Foxstrike, Beepaw, and Marigoldpaw, heading out of camp.
Jaypaw glanced up at Shaddefrost. "What are we doing today?" the new apprentice asked, watching as the older apprentices went out to train with their mentors. Shaddedfrost chuckled. "You'll see," she replied as she led him towards the training cave.
Foxstrike glanced at Powderbreeze, who nodded permission for him to continue. "We need you to track Deerstar's patrol, and Ocrafur's to where they go and report back," he meowed. "Well be watching, but can't help you," he meowed.
Powrderbreeze nodded. "Marigoldpaw you're going to track Deerstar's patrol and Beepaw, Ocrafur's patrol," she meowed. "Remember to try not to be scented or found and keep alert," she meowed, watching as the apprentices ran towards the patrols. "See you later Foxstrike," she meowed, heading after her apprentices, while he followed his.
Pikeriver chuckled as the one moon old kits started playing with each other. "Time for a nap you two," she meowed to her kits,
glancing over at Dovekit. She frowned, knowing the she-kit was a bit shy to play with her brothers since they could be pawful when playing. "Maybe they'll let you play with them later," she meowed, glancing at Bramblekit and Pebblekit, who nodded. "Of course mom," the tom kits replied, yawning as they fell asleep, Dovekit falling asleep soon after.Moonpool: N/A
