Echoing Howls Pack

Postby mochii_ » Mon Oct 30, 2017 3:53 pm

Echoing Howls Pack
Number of Wolves: 6 || Pack Rank: 1 || Current Season: Summer

Pack Traditions/Lore:
- The alphas must come and inspect any new born pups within two hours of them being born. If they aren't inspected during that time period, it's believed to be bad luck.
- Once the pups eyes open, the whole pack will take them down to the river and teach them how to swim. It's not an important tradition to have, but it helps the pups get to know their packmates
- Pure white wolves and pure black wolves are bad omens. If a pup is born pure white or pure black, the alpha male will either kill the pup there or leave it at the edge of their territory. If the alpha male isn't there to see the pups, the alpha female will usually take pity on the pup and take it to a rival pack to care for.
- Litters with only one pup are believed to be blessed with leadership and strength.

Pack Structure:
- Like most packs, the pack is run by an alpha pair. Except here, it's more of a matriarchy instead of a patriarchy. The alpha female has more control over the pack than the male does. At any time, the alpha female is allowed to change her alpha male out for a different one but the alpha female can never be changed out unless she dies, steps down or is overthrown by the whole pack.
- The next alpha pair is picked in a sort of odd way. The alpha pair is picked from birth. If a male pup is born in a litter by himself, then he will be the next alpha male. If a female pup is born in a litter by herself, then she will be the next alpha female. The position isn't a birthright passed down from a parent to their firstborn.
- Since most of the pack is friendly, loud and outgoing, they usually take in a lot of newcomers, as long as they don't carry the pure white or black fur.

Echoing Howls Pack [ 01 ]

Postby Katrione » Tue Oct 31, 2017 3:02 pm

      ᗩᗪᗩIᖇ
      She-wolf ● Alpha ● 3 years ● Mate: Graham
"Adair." Graham laughed loudly, rolling the 'r' in Adair's name. The she-wolf twisted over to look up at her mate, her tail wagging excitedly. "You're going to catch a cold." The muddy brown brute leaned down, nuzzling his nose into her black scruff.

"Oh, let me have some fun." Adair barked, hopping to her paws and shaking the clumps of snow from her light brown, black and grey pelt. "We aren't going to be young forever." She turned tail and bounded off through the trees, further from their winter den. Graham watched after her, a fond look in his eyes. He knew many alphas weren't lucky enough to love the other alpha they were paired with but the pair had grown up together in their birth pack and trained together.

When Adair's mother was usurped by another she-wolf, the she-wolf turned and took Adair's father as her mate. To keep her position from being threatened, the new alpha female killed most of the offspring that her new mate and the former alpha female had produced. When Adair and her surviving siblings fled, Graham went with them. Along their journey, Adair's siblings separated slowly until it was just Adair and Graham left.

Graham followed after his mate, his tail swishing in the snow as he followed her deeper into the trees that covered them from praying eyes.

    XXX

"Right there." Adair whispered, peering around the rock that she and Graham were taking cover behind. Graham lifted his head to peer over the she-wolf's shoulder. Like Adair had predicted, the elk were grazing on the last remaining patches of grass that were lingering at the edge of the river.

"I have no clue how you always know these things." Graham grumbled, his paws kneading the snow beneath him. Adair flashed him a smug look.

"I'm a natural born leader, duh." She retorted, her tail swishing. Graham snorted but couldn't help agreeing with the she-wolf.
They hadn't kept many of the traditions that they had in their old pack, but one they did keep was the alpha rule. A pup born in a litter by itself would be the next alpha, if another pup of the same gender hadn't been born alone already. Adair had siblings,
but they were all from older litters. "So what's the plan?" Adair angled her ears toward her mate, waiting for his order. While she might be a good leader, Graham was better at planning and coming up with strategies.

Graham's yellow eyes quickly surveyed their surroundings, looking for the best possible route. "How fast can you cross the river?"
A devious smirk flashed on Adair's face and she slinked off to find a quick away across to the other side of the river without the elk noticing her presence. For now, Graham crouched by the rock and waited for his mate to scare the elk towards him.

[ First off I must commend you on your writing skills! I enjoyed reading what you've written! ^^
And this is my own take on your game, so it'll be a bit different. Not as much writing and reposting stuff. It's more me giving you an update on what's happening and you write the reaction, sorta. I hope it sort of makes sense! cx ]

New Pups!
Congratulations! Your Alphas were successful in their mating and will be expecting 3 pups on 11/06!
Hunting Successful!
Congrats! Your wolves have successfully killed the prey! Your wolves can happily dig in! You can describe your wolves successfully making their kill and what they do afterwards; eat it, save it for later, both
x1 Elk cow is added to your stock!

Echoing Howls Pack [ 02 ]

Postby Katrione » Tue Oct 31, 2017 5:37 pm

[ It totally makes sense!! That option is what a few mods, including myself, do most of the time. I love the game so far!! ]

      ᗩᗪᗩIᖇ
      She-wolf ● Alpha ● 3 years ● Mate: Graham ● Expecting (11/6)
The elk cow's head jerked up, looking up in surprise at the sudden burst of movement from the riverbank. Adair hurtled across the snowy bank, droplets of water dripping from her pelt. The elk cow let out a cry and turned, retreating to the tree line while her herd-mates darted off in other directions. Graham's muscles tensed beneath him as he waited for their prey to get closer and for the opportunity of him to strike to arise.

The alpha male launched out from behind the rock, latching onto the elk cow's flank and sinking his teeth into her flank. The elk cow wailed loudly, shaking Graham off. The dark brown brute backed off, drawing his tongue over his muzzle to lick up the droplets of blood that clung there. Adair bounded up to his side, pausing to shake more water from her pelt while Graham watched the elk cow limp further away, a trail of blood behind her.

"Now we wait." Graham whispered to Adair. The light brown, black and grey she-wolf nodded, padding carefully after their wounded prey. They both were eager to bring down the large mammal and start their food stockpile but they knew that one, if not both, could get injured by the desperate elk cow if she decided to kick.

It felt like forever before the elk cow collapsed onto her side, finally having lost too much blood. "Now?" Adair whined eagerly. Graham eyed the elk cow for a moment before nodding to his mate. Adair lurched forward, quickly finishing off the dying elk. Graham nuzzled Adair happily before sinking his teeth into the prey's scruff and began dragging it back towards the pair's winter den. They decided that they would eat a little of everything that they caught then stockpile the rest for future use.

    XXX

"I hate not having others with us." Adair whispered to Graham several days later. The she-wolf raised her head slightly off of the dark brown brute's flank to look at his yellow eyes. "I miss having other wolves to play with and go hunting with." Graham looked at her, a worried look in his eyes. Of course the alpha male missed living in a large pack but he had a hard time dealing with the thought of bringing in a new wolf who could possibly hurt his beloved Adair.

"I think it might be a bit too soon for us to bring in more wolves, but you will have pups soon and we'll need all the help we can get." Graham sighed, hauling himself carefully to his paws, ducking his head down so it didn't bump into the bottom of the tree den that they had set up their winter den in. The pair had taken shelter in a hollowed out area beneath a giant oak tree. Despite Adair telling her mate multiple times that there was no way for him to bump his head on the ceiling of the den, which was way above his head, he still ducked every time he stood. "Let's go." Adair perked up happily and hopped to her paws, prancing past her mate and into the snow.

[ Adair and Graham ate their fair amount of servings of the elk, then stored the rest ]
[ Adair and Graham patrolled the around the edge of the eastern forest for wolves ]

[ Okay, yay! I'm glad you like it! ^^ ]

Adair and Graham search the edge of the eastern forest for any sign that another wolf may be there. After a few hours of sniffing around they turn up with nothing. Slightly disheartened the pair turn to head back to their den. As they walk they suddenly scent it. A female lone wolf is in the area!
- What do your wolves do now? How do they approach this wolf?

Echoing Howls Pack [ 03 ]

Postby Katrione » Wed Nov 01, 2017 7:07 am

      ᗩᗪᗩIᖇ
      She-wolf ● Alpha ● 3 years ● Mate: Graham ● Expecting (11/6)
Adair whirled around to face Graham, her eyes wide in excitement. "Do you smell that?!" She shrieked in excitement, hopping in place a few times before kneading the ground with her paws. Graham eyed her curiously before scenting the air, his ears perking when he recognized the scent of a she-wolf. "We have to find her!" Adair said.

Graham nodded in agreement, finally starting to feel excited about finding a new pack-mate now that another wolf was in the territory. "Let's go find her dear." He smiled, giving her ear a playful nip. Adair smiled back and turned, hurrying in the direction that the scent was coming from.

After searching for a while, the scent trail finally started to get stronger, showing that the she-wolf was extremely close to them now. "There she is." Graham whispered to Adair, nodding towards where he could see another wolf moving carefully through the snow. "What should we do?"

"Just go talk to her. This isn't like hunting, Graham." Adair snorted. Graham rolled his eyes, his tail lashing slightly. "Just follow my lead." The light brown, black and grey she-wolf padded forward, taking careful and calm steps so she didn't spook the lone she-wolf. "Hello!" She called.

"It's not safe to be out on the mountains by yourself." Graham called to her, stopping next to his mate. "You don't have to join our pack if you don't want to, but we would love to have you."

[ Adair and Graham asked the lone she-wolf to join their pack ]

[ I apologize for my absence! ;-; ]

The she-wolf turns to look at the two wolves and sniffs the air in curiosity. She doesn't run away but flinches when she hears Adair's voice. She looks at the two and her ears fold back a little. "Join your pack?" She questions, chewing on the proposition for a moment. She glanced back the way she came before nodding her head a little. "That sounds nice. Thank you very much." She said dipping her head respectfully. She had left her pack in hopes of finding a better one and these two wolves seemed nice.

    - Congrats! A she-wolf has joined your pack! (I'll create your new wolf soon! ^^ She will be a white and silver wolf with amber eyes. Please choose a name for her! c:)

Echoing Howls Pack [ 04 ]

Postby Katrione » Sun Nov 05, 2017 7:39 am

      ᗩᗪᗩIᖇ
      She-wolf ● Alpha ● 3 years ● Mate: Graham ● Expecting (11/6)
    "Adair?"

The alpha female raised her head, blinking sleep from her eyes. "Iona?" She murmured, pushing herself up into a sitting position, shaking her head. The silver and white she-wolf was peering into Adair's den. "What's wrong?"

"Graham left to go on a patrol, so I was wondering if you wanted to go hunting." Iona backed up out of the den as Adair got to her paws and padded towards her. Iona was still nervous around the other wolves but she was getting better. Adair stepped out onto the snow, kneading it a few times to get her paws use to the cold.

"Yeah, let's go." Adair yawned, flicking Iona's shoulder with her tail before leading the other she-wolf away from the den.

[ Iona has officially joined the pack ]
[ Adair and Iona went hunting in the Eastern Forest ]
[ Graham went patrolling by the River ]
