there are slight different opinions on this matter, but that is what most of the users go by, yes ^^
this would mean that techically a 2016 rare equals 8 2016 commons, but in my opinion it's much easier to trade from commons to uncommons, and then from uncommons to rares (:

Honestly, those rates highly depend on the pets/demand. Most people probably aren't going to want to trade rares for uncommons, but it's a lower demand rare (rats etc) and high demand uncommons, 4 may be right. There's no set rule that everyone follows, however, even more so than with higher rarity pets.
Same goes for exchanging commons for uncommons, though in my experience that tends to be easier.
