It happened suddenly. The roaring of a vehicle rushed through his head as he flew through the air, landing almost under his horses feet and hitting the ground with a solid thud. Cricket had spooked, bucking off his unsuspecting rider and began to bolt around the arena; picking up pace as he felt the flapping of stirrups against his side, on his neck, everywhere. It was in this time that Brett sat up, struggling to catch his breathe after winding himself in the fall and barely managing to wheeze out his horses name "Cricket." he attempted to say calmly as he pulled himself up off the ground, still attempting to breath.

Brett was so worried about his horse that it took the yelling to bring his attention to what had happened with who he now knew was Ally's mother. Something had obviously happened there but it wasn't his place to judge, every family had their problems and it wasn't for anyone to say otherwise. Quickly he made an attempt to calm his horse who was still spooked from the experience "Settle up mate, woo up." his voice carried a soft and gentle tone as he approached, not directly looking or facing the horse but still having him in the corner of his eye "Good boy, you're okay mate." he added, softly patting the horses on the neck before reaching for the reins. First things first, Brett began to run his hands down the animal's legs, checking for injury of any sort but to his relief the horse came up fine, maybe a little sore but nothing major and headed towards the barn, that was enough for today.

Brett stood quietly at the entrance of the barn, judging whether he should enter or give her a moment to herself. Knowing the struggles of separated parents he chose the more appropriate answer to his question and remained outside for the time being. By now he had come into her 'conversation' with what he could only assume was a horse "Apology accepted." he said softly as he and the horse headed into the barn. The facial expression and body language of the young man had changed to a much softer and more inviting demeanour "My name's Brett by the way."

Brett gave a small laugh and a shrug of his shoulders "About all of it." he replied in a soft yet joking tone, trying not to step out of line or anything like that. Carefully the young man put his gelding back into his stall and began to unsaddle him whilst still keeping the appropriate communication with Ally "It's okay, not to be insensitive but if I had a mother like that I probably would be a lot snappier that you." he reassured and returned the smile.

After untacking his horse, Brett exited the stall and watched as the nine year old chestnut prepared to roll in the fresh shavings that lined his box. "I was dry schooling him in drafting and cutting, it just makes it a little bit harder without an actual beast but improves his concentration so when we go to our next campdraft hopefully he will perform a bit better." he explained, glancing from his horse back to the girl, he gave a small shrug "I've had worse." his reply cam casually.
