personality;; Well, you know the mad scientist trope? Like that, except instead of crazy, he's just a morally ambiguous ass who pushes the limits of science and morals with his 'experiments'.

There were few things Pierre enjoyed more than working in his lab. One of the immediate things that came to mind was on one of those rare occasions where an experiment worked out perfectly.
Now was not one of those times.
"Okay, so if I just - yeah, and then move this a little to the right, mhm, and... Wow, that... should be it." Pierre muttered to himself,
making the final touches on his newest creation - an automaton powered by the souls of those who have recently passed away.
As he booted it on and grabbed his notebook to write down any potential problems for future reference, he couldnt help but think there was something he was forgetting.
The robot hummed to life, several spots previously dull now coming to neon cyan-colored life. The robot, a couple seconds after starting, then started talking. "Wh-what?" it asked, clearly confused and scared. "Where am I?"
"Oh dear," said Pierre, "That wasn't supposed to happen." He scrawled down on the notepad, "TeST 1.01 SOULS NOT BEING USED EXCLUSIVELY AS ENERGY. PERHAPS SEPARATE SYSTEMS"
The robot continued talking as he wrote, "What's happening, who- who are you?" Another, different voice overlapped, also coming from the robot. "What is this?" it asked. And so it continued, the problem escalating out of hand, the core of the robot barely being able to hold the energy it contained. And then it exploded.
"Oh dear, oh dear. Not very good at all," he muttered, crawling out from under the table he had hidden below when the explosion seemed imminent, and plucking bits of melted metal out of his fur. He scrawled down on the line below, "SOULS STACKING. ADD FILTER?"
Ah, yes, that was what he forgot. A filter, so not every soul on the planet would come as they died. Well, he may have to get a new core for this robot if he planned to use it again - which he most certainly did - but at least he had a slightly better starting point now. It was rather late, though, and his lab smelled of melting silver, so work on Test 1.02 would have to wait until tomorrow.
