The pale grey tom padded through the shimmering forests of StarClan, quietly taking in his surroundings and mourning ancient memories. With calm and measured strides, Sagestar quickly moved through TumbleClan's starry camp. Ignoring Russetleaf's anxious mewing, the grey leader continued to walk. These days he didn't spend much time with the other TumbleClanners, as though he were condemning himself with moons of walking a lonely walk. As he walked, Sagestar became vaguely aware of talking, vaguely aware of other cats nearby. Creeping closer, Sagestar was met with a leader that he'd hoped he'd never have to talk to again.

It was Squirrelstar and he knew that without doubt conversation would be strained with her and painful for both parties.

xxxstonestar frowned at the tom's question. "hunting? that hasn't even crossed my mind. but i guess you can hunt if there's some prey here..." the leader looked left and right, hoping to spot something else than shadows.

xxxsagepaw shrugged when grayfur said she had never heard of brookclan, but he frowned when she mentioned his death. the apprentice opened and closed his mouth a few, unsure of what to say. "i actually died as a kit. my father, our current leader, gave me the suffix of an apprentice, which made me grow to the size of one. i was murdered by some horrible molly, who took the lives of many of my clan-mates. fortunately, she now resides in the dark forest."

Squirrelstar froze at the sight of Sagestar appearing from the undergrowth. Her fellow Clanmates froze at the sight of the tom too, since none of them had run into the tom in Starclan's territory yet. The former leader of Echoclan stared at Sagestar for several moments before flicking her tail at her Clanmates. All of the Echoclan cats immediately turned and disappeared into the undergrowth.

The light ginger she-cat stepped forward, dipping her head to Tumbleclan's former leader. "Sagestar." She mewed, wincing at the crack in her voice.

Watching the Echoclan cats disappear into starry fronds, Sagestar turned slowly to the ginger molly that he'd swore that he'd never see again. ''Squirrelstar.'' he replied, dipping his head civilly. Neither of them had anything to say, allowing minutes to creep by slowly. Perhaps a day had passed while they said nothing, Sagestar didn't know; time was warped up here. ''I-I'm sorry.'' he murmured, voice laced with the regret and guilt of a thousand moons. ''My actions were rash and I've paid for it.''

Squirrelstar shook her head, her bright blue eyes darting around to look at their surroundings every time she scented a new cat. She loved other Clan cats when she was alive, but she felt unsettled in Starclan where she was no longer sleeping next to just her Clanmates anymore. What unsettled her even more was that she hadn't even scented Jaystar yet.

"It's fine, it was the actions of my family that caused you a lot of hurt and pain." She mewed sadly, looking at her paws. "I don't know if everyone still has to worry about them, I killed my mother but I don't know if the rest of my family is still out there."

''The past is the past; we must let it sleep'' Sagestar replied, noting her mournful expression. ''I'm sorry; you're not responsible for what your mother did.'' The grey tom's expression softened and he sat down in front of her. ''At least you did kill her; at least I have that to thank you for.'' He smiled weakly. ''I also trust Echoclan is still up and running?''

A proud glimmer flickered through Squirrelstar's gaze. "Of course. Echoclan isn't finished ruling the mountains just yet. I trust Raggedstar will rule Echoclan through the troubles soon to come." She mewed, curling her tail over her paws. "I hope Mooreclan is taking good care of Tumbleclan's old territory." She mewed. "Did anyone from Tumbleclan survive?"

''May Echoclan reign the mountains forevermore.'' sighed Sagestar, his breath misting in the cool night-air. The grey tom's words were sincere, but carefully picked; since his troublesome and rocky reign, he'd made it his goal to exercise caution a little more. ''I thank you for your well-wishing, but I'm not sure if they will.'' he admitted with a shake of his head. ''Like I, Fritillarystar's making some terrible mistakes.'' With those worries on mind, Sagestar continued. ''And only three survived; Ravenflower, Hailclaw and Harefoot.'' He murmured. ''Two of which reside in Moorclan.''

Squirrelstar frowned slightly. "Maybe you should try speaking with Fritillarystar. The new leaders need our guidance,
no matter what they think." She said, her tail twitching slightly out of anxiety. She always worried about how Clans would fare after their previous leader passed on.

"Ravenflower?!" Squirrelstar gasped. "She came back?! It's been so long since she left... I'm glad she's doing well."

''I've tried.'' He shook his head. ''But Fritillarystar's no longer sleeping for long, or visiting the lightning oak.'' Sagestar murmured grimly. ''I hope something happens soon; either Moorclan lives or dies, I can't endure the suspense or the pressure.'' He frowned before turning to Squirrelstar. ''And Ravenflower's back, Harefoot too! Hailclaw, she's not back; she's joined some other clan.''
