FireFeather woke up to the sound of a restless Clan. It wasn't the normal hustle and bustle of cats getting ready for patrols, but rather it was a crowding. Had he missed a Clan meeting somehow? And no one woke him?
FireFeather pushed his way out of the den, and immediately padded to where he saw the Clan crowding, standing next to his adoptive daughter PumpkinPaw. He had always admired her desire for herbs- he had even considered being a medicine cat himself, but StarClan seemed to disagree.
When his fur brushed against hers, he was immediately stopped cold. Death.
He remained silent, and found himself tending up more than he would like. How had this happened? Iceyeyes was perfectly healthy, wasn't she?

Dewpaw wanted to curl up into her nest and never come out but she forced herself on shaky legs to leave the elder's den. She closed her eyes and turned away from the gathering cats. It felt like the world was crashing over her and all she could do was watch in horror. A fox or badger or snake had done it, surely. No cat would ever do such a thing, especially in such a terrifyingly savage way. She tried to spot Blizzardstar or Pumpkinpaw among the cats.

With a concerned frown, she listened closely as her mate left and tried to peice together the words being said outside. "Otterwhisker, can you hear what's going on outside at all?" She asked her adopted daughter.

Breezefire's eyes welled up when she saw Iceyeyes. "Wh..y?" she cried, tears flowing freely. She left the den and went to the back of the dens to cry. "WHY?" she cried. "Starclan, why?"
