Kalon #1250 - Archie

Archie

Archie had been created the day of April 16th, 2010, the old robot Kalon had been programmed to learn more about the Kalons, fit into their society and study their ways, the only problem was they had replaced Archie with another robot. An up-to-date robot that had already been painted well, and could mock the Kalon's as soon as a movement was put into its "chip", soon after that on July 2nd, 2010 he had been stuffed away in the storage room. Most scientists thought that would be the last they'd see of the failed robot till one day a strange noise from the storage room had been reported to the head scientist of the lab, the noises continued the entire day till 2 scientists checked down, only to find Archie, powered on and moving boxes around. The boxes he had moved were to make a small den, like Kalons would do in the wild. He was brought back to the surface of the lab, scientists at first thought he had gained consciousness, they began running tests to see if he had emotions, and Archie wanted to feel emotions so very badly, he wanted to be like the scientists and real Kalons, he could have feelings and friends. He could feel anger if something wasn't going his way, or he could feel sadness if someone had died. The first test began October 19th, 2016.

"what were you made to do?"
a few clicks came from Archie.
"Study Kalons for the sake of science."
The scientists quickly scribbled something down on their clipboards, the next question came to him
"Do you believe your alive?"
Archie froze.. he always wanted to be alive, but he knew he couldn't be.. he never felt forgotten or shoved aside when he had been placed in storage, never felt any grief when he made a mistake with his programming.. he didn't even feel the slight bit of jealously when they announced his replacement, he felt nothing. He knew if he wanted to be alive he needed to live without a program, he needed to feel like other Kalons did.. he needed organs to keep him going.. he had none of these things, after a few clicks he finally responded.
"No.."
more scribbling came from the boards, soon they left the cell, leaving Archie alone. He tapped his metal claws on the ground for a bit, feeling no joy out of it.. he didn't even feel depressed of not being able to live up to a dream.. or maybe it was just his programming that told him to be a Kalon.. he just felt nothing..

pure emptiness.
