Name
Waverly Aguado comes from a family that theme-names children. The theme is always something related to water. Waverly's name means "little wave".

Age
Waverly is 22, like his childhood friends.

Gender
Waverly is male.

Sexuality
Waverly is heteroflexible. He greatly prefers women, especially a tough and fearless one who can protect him from the world.

Personality
It's a surprise this overemotional coward has survived so far. Waverly is not a "fiery redhead". He has always been timid and quiet, too shy to assert himself or confront people. He would cry over fictional character deaths in movies, and he would suck at many video games because he couldn't bring himself to attack the monsters. Clearly this guy has no guts for anything, and his only talent is empathy. Right?
Well, not exactly. Despite being so introverted, Waverly actually loves people, especially his friends. He will be surprisingly brave when it involves helping them. Waverly won't allow his lack of courage to get his friends killed. Besides, he's terrified of loneliness more than anything. He would rather stick around jerks than take a stand alone.

Backstory
Waverly was raised in a typical "American family". Two married parents and their two children living in a house. His closest friends were Octavia Aldridge and the Jin Twins, Cashew and Coral. His sister Brooke left for university eight years ago, but went north to Canada for her studies.
Waverly went to university four years ago, alongside Octavia and Coral. Cashew stayed behind in their hometown and worked at a fast food restaurant. When Waverly was rejected from teacher's college last year, he fortunately found a job back home. Cashew was now the manager at Tim Hortons and he was happy to have his best friend back.
Unfortunately, the peace did not last. Waverly was working an after-midnight shift when he heard about the disease. He panicked and drove back to the neighborhood, only to see his parents and Octavia's family shambling aimlessly through the streets. In a state of shock, he returned to his workplace. Cashew was there and the two friends decided to stick together. Waverly's parents were dead, along with what seemed to be that entire neighborhood. That would likely have included Cashew's family.
For the next few weeks, Waverly kept himself occupied with the responsibility of providing food for himself and Cashew. His friend would take care of other supplies, and would also act as Waverly's bodyguard, much to his relief. They even ended up making an excursion to their old neighborhood. Cashew wanted to retrieve his sister's spear, a sharpened bamboo pole she used for javelin practice.
They set up camp overnight in the Jin's old home. It was creepy, since Waverly had been here so many times, and it was always bustling with activity. Now it was silent, except for Cashew's occasional bad joke or story.
Come morning, Cashew went to fetch water from the nearby lake. He said he would be back by noon.
He wasn't.
Waverly waited until the sun was setting, and then panic began to set in again. He was about to go looking for Cashew, but fortunately a familiar face showed up. Octavia had returned to the neighborhood from her university.
Coral wasn't with her, and Waverly didn't want to ask. He still has not asked because he's afraid to know the truth. He always admired their heroic friend, and had a teenage crush on her for the longest time. It seems impossible that she would be dead... so as long as Octavia doesn't mention it, she can't be dead. That's how Waverly thinks of it.
Waverly and his childhood friend Octavia have been camping in their neighborhood since they reunited, and Cashew has not returned to them.

Likes
Waverly loves anything that restores the slightest bit of hope in him. Finding a meal for the day, the company of a friend, even the sight of a flower. He still looks for beauty even after everything that has happened.

Dislikes
Waverly hates anything he finds mildly scary. This includes blood, death, the dark, sudden loud noises... picture the most stereotypical horror movie and he will hate everything about that. He always hated horror movies and apocalypse movies. Now that his life has become one, it's even worse.

Fears
Waverly is afraid of many things. Well pretty much everything. Even before the zombie apocalypse began, he refused to watch horror movies. He would jump during scenes in the most child-friendly movies, such as Home Alone. He was afraid of death, afraid of harming or offending others, afraid of abandonment, afraid of commonly feared animals and then some...
After what happened, Waverly is less afraid of animals such as snakes and spiders. Now other humans scare him more. He is even more terrified of death and anything related, because the concept is so much more real and in his face now. One of his greatest fears is being forced into a life-or-death situation, and having no option but to fight. His worst fear in general is dying alone.

Name
In Cashew Jin's family, the kids are named after trees. Cashew was named after the tropical tree that produces cashews.

Age
Cashew is 22, like his childhood friends and fraternal twin sister.

Gender
Cashew is male.

Sexuality
In contrast to his friend Waverly, Cashew is homoflexible. He strongly prefers men.

Personality
Cashew wants to be a hero of sorts. He has Coral's endless optimism and extreme determination, and the two siblings seem almost identical. Nothing can discourage Cashew from reaching his goals. He stays cheerful and friendly, and works hard constantly to get better. He pretty much throws a party whenever someone encourages him. Don't compliment him unless you want him to dwell on it for months. I'm not even kidding.
He's a very friendly and outgoing guy. Although one major difference is that he's more 'chill' than Coral. This is really saying something. Cashew behaves like a rabbit who drank too much coffee, but Coral is actually worse in terms of "ridiculous levels of energy". Cashew is a bit more reasonable and doesn't run around tackling people. He usually knows his boundaries and he will back off when people get annoyed with him.

Backstory
Cashew grew up with his twin sister Coral. They were inseparable. Although they often fought physically in the backyard and basement, this was hilariously fun for them. They were also friends with Octavia and Waverly, although they couldn't beat up those two nerds.
When Coral went off to university with her friends, Cashew stayed behind and got a job at Tim Hortons. Despite being an American, he had always preferred his Asian-Canadian roots. He worked his way up and became store manager of his local area. Cashew was pretty happy with his life and even had a boyfriend, Vaxas Tavrinth. Cashew's parents had always been accepting of different sexualities and they were happy for their son. Well, at least his father was. It was hard to tell with Cassia's stony face.
Three years later, his dejected friend Waverly returned from university. He was crushed after being turned away from teacher's college, but Cashew was glad to get his friend a job.
He supported Waverly through the beginning of the apocalypse, until they returned to their old neighborhood. There Cashew found his sister's training spear, a crude bamboo stick which she used for javelin practice. He went out to fetch water, confident he wouldn't need his timid friend's backup. Unfortunately he was ambushed by a large group of zombies and had to flee. Cashew injured his arm escaping, but made it into the city, where he found Mallius Tavrinth- but no Vaxas.
Cashew plans to reunite with Waverly once he's fit to travel. Which will be very soon. The blood loss has weakened him but he should be fine pretty shortly. He hasn't yet asked about Vaxas' whereabouts because he assumes he's fine. Cashew believes his boyfriend is way too smart to die.
... What? No, it's not like Cashew is afraid of finding out the truth or something...

Likes
Like his sister, Cashew loves humanity and the world. That kind of stuff. He loves anything hopeful related- rainbows, sunshine, friendship, childish things. He doesn't really care how destroyed the zombie-infested world is around him. He still believes in hope and that everything will get better.

Dislikes
Cashew really hates defeatist attitudes. He makes it his personal mission to spread optimism everywhere, infecting people with happiness and not any disease. He believes that pessimism is almost as bad as the zombie plague, because if humanity gives up, there will be nothing left in the future for them.

Fears
Cashew likes to think he's not afraid of anything, but this isn't true. He has a profound fear of losing those he loves most. Immortality would be a curse for him, because he would watch as everyone he knows grows old and dies. He's also pretty terrified of losing hope- a fear of fear? Something like that.
