Samael's expression only darkened as the stripling spoke, not betraying his thoughts. He admired the kid's ingenuity. They had a point; this was more than he wanted to deal with. Maybe it would be best to chase him out. He couldn't deny that he was enjoying this a little, though. Rarely did he get to trifle with a living person.

"You don't seem invested in this conversation." He maintained eye-contact; body language often exposed people's thoughts. This boy's were obvious. Samael crossed his arms and blocked any path to the door. "I practice a dwindling culture with my own twist. Guess you could brand it paganism. "

Cassius bumbled for a response but Samael's presence seemed to smother it from him. Chatting didn't seem to be an option for them right now.

Samael left the wall and begrudgingly opened the door. "You could've tried to be risky," he grumbled.

Cassius quickly gathered his things and cautiously approached the door. Samael grabbed his shoulder as he departed and seethed, "Don't ever return." With a strong shove, Samael hoped to never interact with him again.

"You'll never see me again." A blatant lie.

Samael's worry faded over a week. It was late at night when a flurry of knocks landed on his door. He grabbed a knife and unlatched it. What in the hell?

Cassius panted in front of the entrance. "We're both going to jail if we don't work together." Samael warily let him in.

Cassius wrung his hands as he prattled, "I raised a few too many bodies because I was curious how many were... 'yours'. I asked them, then they started attacking me. I got away, but now there are zombies wandering around with necromancy symbols and my coat, many repeating that you killed them. Police will search my room trying to find where I am and find my necromancy supplies." He let out a fearful sob. "I won't make it in jail."

Samael snarled. "Idiot! You just ruined both our lives." He stomped away into a room and hollered, "Did you pack? We're leaving. Immediately." He returned with large bags, tossing them onto the floor. "Fortunately, I detest this place," Samael grunted. "My cabin will be secure."

The journey seemed long despite the very brief stops. Samael was pressured to pick up "essentials" at a few midnight gas stations before they disappeared. Luckily the clerks were too weary to notice that their faces matched the 'MISSING' posters scattered throughout nearby counties. Cassius was the one who noticed how they changed: Samael's to 'WANTED' first, then his own.

As long as they stayed hidden and moving, they'd be safe, though never able to call anywhere home again.
